I had a few projects recently done by Maison, and I was very impressed with everything. My daughter had used them for some work at her home and she was also very pleased. I had the interior of my house painted, a rail on the front porch retrofitted to accommodate a ramp for my dog, and they put together the ramp that I had ordered. There were lots of "moving parts" for the work at my home and everything was communicated clearly and done to perfection. The employees were all very professional and pleasant, and they paid attention to all of the details. The price of the completed projects was very reasonable. I would have no hesitation recommending Maison for a variety of projects, and will use them again myself.

Working with Maison was better than we could have imagined. My husband and I usually do most home projects on our own since we have heard horror stories about working with contractors. But our project involved creating an opening and stairs into the garage from the main house to the unfinished space above our garage. This was not something we could do ourselves not with juggling work and kids. Originally, the space above the garage could only be accessed by deck stairs outside. This was not ideal for us. We have three boys and didn't want them to have to go outside to get to this room. We wanted to create a recreation room for this space, a place for our family to hang out. We had multiple area contractors come to give us a quote. Most of them didn't want to tackle doing the stairs. They offered to finish the room but not do the stairs. Either we wouldn't hear back from them or they gave us quotes that were enough to build a brand new house. We had given up hope on finding a contractor so we decided just to contract somebody to do the stairs and we would do the rest ourselves. Initially, we were asking Ken for a quote just for the stairs. But he wanted to do the whole job. Our first impression of Ken was that he was a good guy so we took a leap of faith because we had become very skeptical of all contractors at that point. Maison pleasantly surprised us. Their work was ahead of schedule and meticulous. Ken and his crew were professional and a pleasure to work with. They exceeded our expectations. They were mindful to our work and family schedule. We would not hesitate to use them again. We recommend them for any home project you may have.

Ken and team just did a full rebuild of the porch of our 1925 home. The proposal process was great, and crystal clear, with good options which showed he listened to our needs. Ken gave us updates throughout the process via text, sending me photos when he needed my input. The guys on his team were professional and on time every morning, and did a few extras just 'cause it made it better. Once the old platform was removed, we discovered that the frame had been "creatively" repaired in the past and needed to be rebuilt. The additional work was transparently priced, done quickly, and very sturdy. The final product is beautiful and will last a life time. And it was done on schedule.

Overall everything came together and looks fine. But its hard to ignore some basic design oversights amd attitude issues. If you put in a bathroom sink you have to pay attention to the height of it. As well as the overall area of it. We redid two bathrooms and both of our new bathroom sinks while pretty are basically nonfunctional due to sizing and height issues. This was after we were told that our project was “small” for them. They were cordial and professional but arrogant at the same time. I was told at one point that my bathroom was “way nicer than mine” by our contractor.

Work was performed faster than anticipated and exactly on budget. Team was very professional and responsive to needs and questions. Would not hesitate to hire them again!

Maison is one of the best contractors in the RVA area. I have known Ken for years and wish I would have used him for other projects. His strength is in helping a home owner understand the potential value of a space and how to balance value vs cost. Maison has one of the best crews you could have work in your home. They are all very well mannered, articulate and sensitive to reducing the impacts of home renovation to the owner. Also they are exceptional and timely in addressing any issues with the project. I would always recommend having an architect involved in any home renovation. However, Ken and his eye for detail and usability provide a "Reality Check" between what an architect envisions and what makes sense given the objectives of the project. Ken and his crew seek to provide you with the most cost effective solution while maximizing the value of the project to your home. I am obviously a fan, but only after questioning and then working with Ken and the Maison Team. Maison has proven to be the best choice I have made. Not the cheapest, but the one that delivers the most value in customer service, design and ultimately satisfaction. You can always find cheaper but you will never find a better value. We are beyond ecstatic with the results of the remodeling work from Maison. They made our vision for an elegant and functional bathroom a reality and did it under budget. All of the professionals who came to our home were polite, professional and kept us informed throughout the process. They also provided options to lower our costs without compromising the look and quality of the total project. Would hire them again, without question.

Ken and his team did an amazing job. They were all such a pleasure to work with, I would absolutely use Maison again for a future renovation. We actually got a quote from another company that was lower, however after talking it through with Ken I knew that his quote was the most realistic and the project did in fact completely stick to the proposed budget. The kitchen renovation project went very smoothly. Throughout the project, Ken and his team worked diligently and consistently to deliver a final product of the highest quality. While the kitchen speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend Maison for others looking for a knowledgeable and reliable contractor in the Richmond area.

I met with Ken the owner and we discussed the project. He quickly understood what I was going for in a very limited space. Additionally, Ken recognized the architectural features of the house (built in 1936) and was able to quickly provide me an estimate of the cost and time frame for the work. I was not disappointed!! Ken had his crew on site doing work when he said he would. No excuses or other "Higher Priority" jobs. He stuck to his word and started as promised. The price was not the cheapest but it was competitive and as we all know "you get what you pay for". That said, the money spent was a true investment in my property. The craftsmanship of the work was unquestionable. I have done renovations while in college so I know the tricks and can differentiate between what should be and what is.... Ken's crew were all experienced craftsmen who impressed even me with their skills and insights. Ken does not market the fact that his crews are made up of people you can talk with and exchange ideas. I would go so far as to say I would welcome the opportunity to have a beer with these guys, but not during work hours. Enough said his crews are awesome and prove it repeatably. I made a suggestion about trim details, and they ran with it. The results speak for themselves! I invite anyone thinking of using Maison construction to contact me to appreciate as I have the value that they add to any project. Yes, I plan to hire Maison again and I appreciate Ken's eye for detail and architectural design.

Working with Masion Construction was nothing but a pleasure. I worked with Ken. He was very professional and nice. If you have any construction that needs to be done I would use this company hands down.

We had a great experience working with Ken. He is very nice, very responsive, and his cost is reasonable. We are considering doing a full kitchen remodel in the not too distant future and would definitely hire Maison to do the work. Ken even did a free Sketch-Up rendering of what our kitchen would look like with the remodel.

Maison Construction & Renovations recently completed the remodel of my kitchen and the repair of the outside of the kitchen addition. They were so knowledgeable about all aspects of the job and provided invaluable advice and suggestions to what seemed like an endless stream of decisions that needed to be made. It's been going excellent so far. They have done excellent work. A real bonus for me was that he took me to the stores so I could pick out the tiles and made suggestions along the way. I love a couple of the ideas that he also put out. The suggestions he has made were perfect and has made my old home look like something out of a magazine.
