Description of Work: Attempted to unclog my house sewer drain, which was draining slowly. Did not unclog it, actually made it worse.

Description of Work: Kane Plumbing, ripoff artists On Sept 7, 2011 my daughter called Kane Plumbing on Laburnam Ave. to fix a stopped up kitchen sink. Since it was after hours, they said there would be a $158 charge just to show up. She agreed. There was no mention of their hourly fee. The plumber came that evening at 6:15 PM and worked for 4 hours (a long time) to unclog the sink, which he did. When he was done, he presented her with a bill for $1411. She was astonished at the amount, but being home alone in her condo with a strange man after 10 PM she felt intimidated and paid the bill. She called their office the next day to ask if there was a mistake in the bill, but they did not return her call. I called the following day with the same result, no response. I was finally able to speak to the owner, Cecil Ligon, about Sept 30. I told him that I thought the bill was unreasonably high for four hours work and asked him to make an adjustment. He responded argumentatively that he would not do that, and that he could charge whatever he wished. I think that charging $1411 for 4 hours plumbing work for one man is excessive price gouging. Taking out the cost of materials and the $158 after hours fee (which is also high) brings the price to $1168 for 4 hours. This is an hourly rate of $ 292. This is about $5 per minute. What a ripoff!!!! Do not use these people !!!!

Description of Work: 04/08/11 Drain boiler and remove one radiator in preparation for installing a new kitchen floor. Labor (2 workers) 1 hour, total time 04/14/11 Reinstall radiator in kitchen, turn on boiler and check for leaks (no leaks) Materials required: 23 inches of 1/2 inch black pipe Labor: (2 workers) 1 hour and 50 minutes Total charge for the job: $763.00 for the 2 hours and 50 minutes. This information is taken from Kane Plumbing's Invoice #934, dated 04/24/11.

Description of Work: repl.toilet and garbage disposal and repl.stuck moen shower cartridge and snake out kitchen drain

Description of Work: Requested correction of loud knocking sound coming from water purifier. When they verified what it was, they said they did not work on lpurifiers. I should have been told that over the phone so I would not have paid the call-out fee. The only work performed was a minor adjustment to a leaky outdoor faucet. I wanted them to stop a leak on a bathroom sink faucet, but they said it was likely just the aerator being full. However, he did not even offer to fix it for me. Not good customer service and charged for a call-out on a service they did not perfiorm.

Description of Work: Checked lavatory downstairs, found pop up assembly broken. Replaced pop up assembly on lavatory. Checked it for leaks and it was ok. Then checked toilet upstairs. Found tank bolts leaking. Replaced tank bolts and spud washer on toilet. Checked toilet and it was ok.

Description of Work: Kane Plumbing did a minor repair on our toilet.
