+ -1 moreWe went to the store to look at carpet. The salesman worked up an estimate and got us to fill out an application for credit through GE Moneybank for 6 months with no interest. After they came and measured our house for square footage, we informed them we wished to pay cash instead and get a credit from GE Moneybank. The salesman said "okay, but we need a deposit of 50% to order the carpet." We wrote a check for half the amount, and went to the store to get a credit from GE. Carpet America told us it would take several days. Long story short, after promised installation twice and no delivery, we asked that the order be canceled and our money refunded. We did not get any money back, or any carpet. They owe us $3000.00. We contacted the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Credit to no avail. Our only option left was to sue them and the lawyer told us that it would cost as much to sue as they owed us and we might not get any money from them anyway. This occurred in July of 2007.
Description of Work: We went to the store and were pressured to get credit through their financier, GE Moneybank, six months no interest. We signed a credit application and were approved for $2309.00 STM (subject to measurement). A couple of days later, the salesman came to the house and measured. At that time, we asked for a credit from GE Money bank, as we decided to pay cash. We were told we must pay 50% deposit before our carpet was ordered. We gave them a check for $982.41. We then rode up to the store so we could get a credit in hand from the finance company. We were told it would take several days and to keep checking our account on the Internet. We did and it was never credited. Not only that, delivery was promised on the carpet twice and they never showed. We decided to cancel, talked to the co-owner, and were told we would get a refund minus 35% for restocking fee. As of now, May 2008, we have never received a refund of any monies; total $3291.37. We have contacted the BBB, a lawyer, the fraud unit of the consumer protection agency, GE money bank, the sheriff's office, to no avail. We have all correspondence if you would like to verify our account.

+ -1 moreWe went to the showroom and looked at the samples and the sales man was really good at helping us out. They had lots of products to choose from and also helped us with the padding. The carpet installers were on time, professional and friendly. They did a great job and cleaned up very well. They re a very reputable company, and I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: The workers installed new plush carpet in my four hundred eighty square foot family room. They moved the furniture, took up the old carpet and hauled it away.

+ -1 moreOur new carpet looks really good. The people at Carpet America were really nice and very helpful in picking out the right carpet for us. When they installed the carpet, they took up all of the old carpet and pad and even took it with them. The new carpet has no seam lines or tracks in it.
Description of Work: Carpet America installed new carpet in the front room and hallway of our 2500 square foot home.

+ -1 moreI was not pleased with them at all. They did a terrible job. They replaced the shoe board and didn't put it back in. They didn't put new metal strips in the doorways. We had to that ourselves. They just seemed to take every short cut possible.
Description of Work: They replaced the carpet in my living room, dining room and hallway. They put vinyl flooring in another hall and in the kitchen.

+ -1 moreI thought things went great with the installation of my carpet from the people at Carpet America. They have very high quality carpet along with high quality workers. I was very impressed with the services and the pricing for that matter. In my mind they could have charged a lot more than they did for such great quality. I would use them again and again.
Description of Work: Carpet America installed carpets through out the entire upstairs of my 2400 sq. ft. home and a 20x20 ft. playroom area.
