JHI Tile provided a proposal to retile our kitchen floors (labor only) and to add corner bath shelves in a client home. Contractor requested to be paid 50% of its labor costs prior to work commencing. We offered to allow the contractor to break up the job into benchmarks and we would pay the same day each time a benchmark was completed. We also offered to put funds in escrow up front if it made the contractor more comfortable. Contractor became insulted by this and cancelled the client job the day before it was scheduled. While we did not work with JHI Tile, members should know that prepaying for labor, or essentially providing a contractor with an unsecured loan, is a requirement to working with it. It is a practice that should be avoided for obvious reasons.
Description of Work: Provider provided an estimate to provide labor to retile kitchen floors and to add corner shower shelves in a client's home.

I needed new tile installed in a newly remodeled bathroom. The bathroom was fully framed and ready for tile install, a pretty straightforward job. I got 2 quotes for the job, and Jim from JHI Tile seemed attentive to detail. I decided to go with them and signed a contract. Total scope of the job was close to 15 thousand dollars. Once the job was done there were a couple of issues with the installation. Water was pooling in one of the corners of the shower because the floor was not properly sloped, and one of the tiles installed on a wall actually cracked down the middle. Quite a visible defect for a brand new bathroom that had a total remodel cost of close to $30k. Here's what 's interesting. Prior to getting the job they were very responsive, they claimed to offer a 1 year warranty and assured me repeatedly that everything would be fine and they'd take care of any issues... but after the job was done and they got paid, they stopped all communication and basically left me hanging. They completely ignored 4 separate requests for warranty service. No response to messages, emails, nothing. I was honestly hoping for better. I guess this a "take the money and move on" type of business. I suppose the bottom line is that for future remodels I will try to find a company that actually stands behind their work and I'd advise others to be cautious of promises, no matter how credible they seem, and put everything in writing, warranty especially. That way you can at least go to a small claims court to resolve any issues you may have.

They charge a reasonable price. They knew what they were doing, were fast, neat and I would use them again.
Description of Work: They tiled a bathroom for me, and did some framing of new cement board.

We were very pleased with their responsiveness and with their workmanship. We had received two other bids for the job and both were for $16,000! We felt the other bids were very unreasonable and kept looking for a better price. JHI Tile was recommended by one of the tile stores we searched for tile.
Description of Work: We were unhappy with our shower because it leaked and grew mold no matter what we did. We decided to replace the venetian marble slab walls and pan with a new pan and ceramic tile. JHI Tile removed the old materials and installed a new pan, backer board, and porcelain tile (which we bought from Lowe's).
