As a mulit-year Super Service Award Winner, Foster Plumbing & Heating is a family-owned business has been helping homeowners stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter since 1989. We have been in the industry since 1946. We pride ourselves in treating our customers and our staff fairly. For years Foster Plumbing & Heating has been servicing the Richmond area with quality and professional care. Our heating and cooling technicians are fully trained and provide the best service in the area. Description of Work: I was disappointed in the service .. Although They came out in good time to check out why my A.C wasn't blowing cold air ... I figured it needed a tune up or freon ... The man said everything was running ok fan working , air blowing etc I said why the air wasn't cold don't it need freon ? He said no it's closed system ... And that my unit was an older unit and will eventually give out. No parts was oiled ... No coils cleaned or checked etc. I don't believe he checked all the items that was on the tune up list . I was looking for help in making my unit run better and making the air colder . After his visit my house went from 77 degree to 87 degrees in 2 days then it completely stopped running . I called the company and told them to send guy back out because my unit stopped running. He came back out with a helper this time and after inspecting the unit he said it was totally dead and it looked like I had freon leak so I must hve a big hole in system. Not fixable he said ... I asked are you sure ? He said yes ..no way to find leak or if he put freon in it .. It will just run out be a waste . He recommended I purchase a new system and it will be around 5,000.00 ! I told him I'm single woman on limited budget that at this time It would be hardship to get . He left and I was left in Va. Summer heatwave with a house that was 90 degrees. I called another company to get a second opinion. I'm happy to report that this company said that there was nothing wrong with my unit . It shut down because my system had no freon and it was safety shutoff so my unit wouldn't mess up. He also inspected my unit for leak ... He said if I hve one it is very small so he put can leak stopper then added freon ... He had my AC blowing cold air and running like new for under 400.00 . All I can say is that either Fosters Svc. Man didn't know what he was doing or he was trying to up sell me to a new unit . I don't blame Angie Service because the site has useful information and courteous people .. I was very disappointed in the service from Foster . Check around everyone before spending big bucks. I know eventually I will have to buy a unit one day and I will gladly buy it from the company that fixed my old AC .

Description of Work: If all businesses were run like Foster, the world would be a much better place. I called them on a Sunday night and left word that our central air needed repair. I received a return call at 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. (I had called three other Angie's List companies and didn't hear from any of them.) They sent someone out within a few hours who determined what the problem was. (Our 15-year-old system needed replacement.) The next day an engineer came out to determine what size system would be needed. Within a week, the system was replaced with a Trane 16 SEER system. At every juncture, the employees were punctual, polite, and professional. I compared their prices and found them to be very reasonable for the same quality. I recommend this company highly and would hire them again should the need arise.

Description of Work: We have used Foster's several times for several different repairs. They are always very punctual, professional, and do fine work. Our water heater recently conked out, and they got to us within just a couple hours after I called them. Some prices seem a bit high, but it's probably the going rate.
