We were very familiar with Classic Construction. In 2013, we chose Classic to re-build and screen in our deck. We were extremely satisfied with their work. So when it came time to convert the closet in our first floor master into a true master closet we chose Classic. We were impressed with the quality of the Heirloom collection. We had a choice of colors and finishes. The closet now has a designated area for shoes, handbags, clothing as well as a built in amoire/dresser. The Classic construction crew was punctual, courteous and professional. I would strongly recommend Classic Construction to my neighbors. .
Description of Work: Installed Rubbermaid Heirloom collection closet system in the first floor master bedroom. Removed existing closet rods and shelves. Patched holes in wall and finished to a paintable condition. Removed existing ceiling mounted light and installed 2 recessed closet ceiling lights. Painted closet ceiling and closet walls. Installed the Heirloom Closet collection with raised panel drawers and shelves in the finish we chose. We were also able to choose our hardware and closet rods finishes.

Brian Holder of Classic Construction managed the renovations of my family room addition and kitchen. He did an outstanding job at a great price. I can't believe how much better my house looks thanks to Brian. Brian is an expert on all aspects of remodels, including design and implementation. Everything happened just as Brian said it would, and Brian made me feel like I was his only client even though I know he was simultaneously working with other clients at that time. I will definitely be calling Classic Construction in the future to handle any home renovations or additions to my home. If you're looking for someone who is trustworthy, honest, skilled and hard-working, call Brian at Classic Construction.

From estimating to completion of construction - the entire team from Classic Construction did an outstanding job. When we contacted the company for an estimate, they arrived in a timely manner. Estimates provided by Juston were detailed and easy to work with. Any discrepancies were quickly resolved. The company was highly professional and responsive in every aspect of the process. Chris and Phil, who actually performed the work were outstanding. Very methodical, neat, conscientious and professional. Work was detailed, precise and the finished products are superb. The deck and the porch are amazing -- we are so pleased with the end products. We thoroughly enjoy our deck and would recommend Classic Construction. We'll keep them on our short list of contractors for the bathroom renovations on the "to do list."
Description of Work: Tear out rear deck (except footings) and front porch (except footings). Install new rear deck, vinyl railings, steps,, lattice and maintenance free finishes. Also install paving stones near rear deck as pad for barbecue(s). Install new front porch deck/surface, vinyl posts, steps, lattice and maintenance free finishes.

When we were planning this project we solicited bids from three different companies. Classic was very competitive and we were impressed with their professionalism and their representative Brian Holder. In the end, we are very glad we chose Classic for our project. Although we had to wait a few weeks for them to start, it was well worth the wait. The project was executed in a very professional and workmanlike fashion. The framing /carpentry crew was excellent? continually cleaning up the work site as they went along and responding to our questions in courteous and professional way. The same can be said about the electricians. The entire project was completed in a very timely fashion and the resulting room is fantastic? exceeding our expectations in every way. We would highly recommend Classic Construction with all confidence and without reservation.
Description of Work: The scope of work performed consisted of converting our screened porch into a sunroom. Services included were demolishing the existing porch, reinforcing the corner posts, complete framing, installing 10 double-hung windows, installing wood floors, installing ceiling fan and re-routing coax cable into the room, installing vinyl siding on the gable end and insulating ceiling and all walls. They also trimmed out the room to match the existing trim in our home and painted the entire room.

Classic Construction is an excellent contractor! We recommend that you contact them for a proposal if you are considering a job that is within their listed expertise. Our experience with them was near-flawless. As you might expect for a job of this magnitude, we did due diligence and talked with several contractors before finally settling on Classic. Key to this decision was their project manager, Brian Holder. He was our single point-of-contact, from promptly reponding to our initial inquiry through the effort to define the job scope and estimate the cost, through several weeks of work--and weather that didn't always cooperate--until finally, when dealing with a short punchlist of miscellaneous items until we were completely satisfied. The crew that did the work was similarly professional and noteworthy. They arrived on time daily, worked hard for a full day, and cleaned up the jobsite each evening. When we noticed that in direct sunlight that a few newly-installed planks on one side of the house appeared blemished, Brian had the crew replace the entire side at no charge. The crew's level of craftmanship was excellent. Communication was frequent, whether by text, phone, e-mail, or in-person. We had to make a hundred little decisions along the way as the job progressed. Classic met us more than halfway whenever we would request a change. What's hard to convey is the level of interaction required with the contractor to ensure the project turns out just the way you want it to. Not because there's any disagreement or conflict, but simply because many decisions come up along the way that you never throught about before the project began. Or, you see something that isn't quite what you had in mind...but you didn't know it until you saw it. In that regard, Classic was outstanding. We worked with Brian to mutually agree whether a proposed change fit within existing job scope and whether there was a cost impact. Most times we were pleasantly surprised. Brian's philosophy was to ensure we were satisfied with the final product, not to quibble over each nickle or dime. Overall, the service provided by Classic Construction, the products they used, and the level of craftsmanship they exhibited left us extremely satisfied. We are very pleased with how our home now looks. As a result, we used them again on a job of similar magnitude to remodel our home's interior. That's the subject of a separate review.
Description of Work: The job scope consisted of the following exterior work on a 2400 sq. ft. two-story, 30-year old, colonial-style home: replace existing masonite siding with Hardieplank colorplus siding; replace original builder-grade wood windows with vinyl windows; remove existing front porch wooden rails and replace with vinyl railings and posts; remove and replace existing wooden decking and install a vinyl railing system; re-screen and paint rear porch; paint existing 12x16 shed to match; replace existing patio door with new fiberglass French door; and all necessary painting and trim work to ensure a complete and pleasing finished product.

We selected Classic Construction to do this work because of our experience with them on an earlier exterior remodeling job (see our review of Classic dated the same as this review). We were not disappointed with the decision to use them again. Like the first job, their work was outstanding, the cost was reasonable, and the project completed on schedule. We again credit our project manager, Brian Holder, for a successful project. As before, he worked with us in a professional, open, and friendly manner. For us, this project, like the exterior work, was a once-in-a-lifetime undertaking and we wanted to get it right. Determing the job scope and cost took several iterations, and multiple meetings with Brian, before we finally honed in on exactly what we wanted. (We assume most of you reading this review do it about as often and feel the same way.) The interior remodeling required the services of several different skill sets: carpenters, electricians, plumbers, tile and granite installers, flooring installers/refinishers, laborers, and painters. Once again, Brian did an exemplary job of coordinating and scheduling their work, keeping us informed, and working with the several crews and us to resolve a series of small but important decisions as work progressed. As before, we had frequent discussions on details, and sometimes changes in approach. Classic continued to exhibit the philosophy we had encountered previously, that is, wanting us to be satisfied with the overall product and not feeling compelled to quibble over small items or interpretations of the contract. Most of what we wanted was accommodated under the existing work scope. In several instances, Brian suggested alternatives that both saved us money and resulted in an excellent final product. Overall, we are very pleased with our new home, inside and out, and attribute that outcome to the successful relationship we had with Classic Construction and the quality work they did for us.
Description of Work: The work was done on the first floor of a 30-year old, two-story, 2400 sq. ft. colonial-style home. The job scope included removing the wall between the kitchen and family room to create a more open concept. (Too much HGTV!) It also included removing the vinyl flooring in the kitchen, utility room and half-bath, removing the slate in the foyer and then installing new wood flooring in those locations and refurbishing the existing wood flooring in the other first-floor rooms, then staining all floors to match. The kitchen remodeling included removing the existing cabinetry and installing all new cabinets, installing granite countertops in the kitchen and half-bath, installing new sinks and fixtures, installing new tile backsplash, adding recessed lighting in the kitchen and family room and accent lighting under the cabinets, painting the kitchen and family room to match, intalling cabinets and countertop in the laundry room, and other painting, carpentry, and finishing work to achieve a complete and pleasing effect. New kitchen and laundry room appliances were also installed. (Note: the appliances were purchased by owner and not included in the cost of service shown above.)

Overall, the process was great. Juston was very easy to work with. He was not pushy during the proposal phase of the project; and once it came time for the work to begin, he made sure to coordinate with all of the different trades that were required for the job. My wife and I are more than pleased with the end product, and would gladly use Classic Construction for future work. We have already referred them to some of our neighbors.
Description of Work: We asked Classic Construction to add a paver patio and walkway to the back of our home. We wanted to connect the additional outdoor living space with our existing deck. On top of that, we asked to have some outdoor lighting installed and a gutter protection system for the rear of the home.

Hiring Classic Construction Exteriors was one of the best decisions I've made for a long time. The entire process was effortless and I can't think of a single negative about the experience. Here's my detailed review: The estimate process: I contacted the company through and Angie's list email and was promptly contacted. I set up a time to meet with a representative. Blake and an associate arrived promptly and I showed him the work I needed done. He was friendly and professional. We set up another appointment to go over the proposal he prepared. Again, Blake arrived promptly and showed us a variety of options for siding, shutters, porch railings, and windows. The sales presentation was professional and relaxed, with no pressure tactics or gimmicks. They were familiar with the vinyl siding specification requirements of our homeowner's association and only showed us samples that were in compliance. I found the cost proposal to be very reasonable. We were trying to decide between two types of vinyl siding, and Blake provided us with the addresses of several properties in the area they recently completed with those products. I drove by those properties and they looked fabulous. We made our final selections and they provided me with samples to submit to my homeowner's association for approval. They were able to start work within a week of approval. The work: I was kept fully informed every step of the way, and everyone was so pleasant. For example, I received a voicemail letting me know that plywood would be put down on a particular day to protect the driveway from the debris dumpster which was being delivered the next day. Sure enough, this happened just as they said. The next day they were to begin work around noon, and like clockwork they arrived at that time and began work. At the end of each workday they cleaned up, and the work never interfered with any of our usual activities. Our foreman, Mark, was friendly and you can tell he cares deeply about the quality of his work. Throughout the process he must have told me ten times "If you see anything at all that you don't like, let me know and we'll correct it." In fact, we did notice that one of the screens on a new window had a hole in it, and they ordered new screens right away. The job required a fair number of ladders and equipment and such, and I appreciated that they kept all of that stuff off of the grass, laying them instead on mulched beds where they woudn't hurt anything. As far as the work itself, the house looks fabulous. The materials are top notch, and we couldn't be happier with the workmanship. It's the little things: Sometimes it's the small details that show the true professionalism and customer service. For example, we were buying a storage shed at the same time from another company. The shed needed to be sided the same as the shed, so I had CCE order extra siding to give to the shed company to use during the construction (not done on-site). I didn't want to be a hassle, so I told Blake that he could just point out the shed materials and I could load them in my pickup and take it over to the shed company. Blake didn't want me to be inconvenienced, so he took the material personally to the shed company. Also, when the work was completed, Blake came over and went over the warranty information and details. He even filled out all the various warranty cards for the different products and stamped them, so all we had to do was sign them and drop them in the mailbox. That's an extra step that shows the character of the company. In summary, I put off doing this big siding/windows/porch/gutters project for years because I thought it would be a big hassle. However, Classic Constructions Exteriors made this easy. I just called them, and they took care of the rest. The house looks amazing now and I would recommend them to anyone.

Of all the years I've worked with contractors or had work done to my house, I have never had the pleasure of dealing with such a professional and courteous company which is so geared towards costumer satisfaction above all else! A few months ago, I reached out to several contractors, including Classic Construction, requesting an estimate for the installation of 4 support columns with the stipulation that a permit should be obtained for future inspection. No one other than Classic construction responded positively to this request. Although they said that they usually perform larger jobs and they may not be able to be as competitive cost-wise as smaller companies Classic Construction told me that they would help me out if I could not find anybody else. As it turned out, all other companies who bothered to respond said that they didn't do this type of job (even though I could see from my research that some actually did) or that they were totally booked and could not take on more work. Although I could be wrong, it is my opinion that they may have been intimidated by my request for a county permit. It was such a pleasure working with Blake at Classic Construction. His communications by email, phone or in person were always polite, personable, as well as professional. I am very happy with the job that was done by his crew. Although the job was completed in stages, mostly due to weather interruptions, but also due to the nature of the job itself, Blake would not accept payment until everything was completed and I was totally happy with the results. The price may have been a bit on the high side but probably not by much. It was all worth it just to be dealing with a company that cared so much about customer satisfaction!
Description of Work: Installed 4 support columns (pre-purchased by owner) for front door porch and obtained appropriate county permit for this job. removed all rails and rebuilt in Chippendale style including those on the steps. Painted railing.

CCE came to my home and walked me through entire process. They provided what I thought was a detailed quote considering this was a pretty simple build. Brent is knowledgeable and believes in quality. The only thing I would have changed is I thought they were screwing down the deck boards. It wasn't specified in the quote and I believe if I had pushed the issue they would have replaced the nails with screws. Communication was good. All my calls were returned and questions answered. The weren't the cheapest but quality and customer service come at a price.

Classic Construction built a raised deck for my new house that I moved into in May. I opted to not have the builder (Ryan Homes) install a deck because I knew I wanted something nicer and larger than they would provide. So glad I went with Classic Construction. They deck is raised, since I have a walk-out basement. Therefore, I decided to have the entire deck enclosed so that I could use the under-side for storage. Classic made this look really nice, putting up beams, plywood walls and then making custom lattice work out of countless square wood blocks (literally hundreds I would guess). This looks a lot nicer than the lattice you'd buy at Lowe's that people often install under decks to keep debris out. This made the enclosure fully-shielded from the elements and it is a great area for storing all of my power equipment, etc. so that I can actually park my cars in the garage. I am still in the process of putting up my own under-deck drainage system to water-proof it from above, but that is just using vinyl panels from Lowe's and some basic steps I found on YouTube. Anyhow, after a couple months of hot summer weather, a few of the railing beams started to split/crack, so Brian came out to take a look. He had them replaced within the next couple of days, and the new railings are holding up great...great customer service and doing what it takes to make the customer happy even after the job is complete. I am so pleased with the deck that Classic will be installing a paver patio off of the deck come this Spring for me....can't wait to have some living space down there as well for entertaining.

We were very happy with the experience from start to finish. We reached out to Classic via email and they responded within a day to let us know that Blake would be in contact with us. He called promptly and arranged to meet within a few days to go over the job. He was very helpful in the planning phase and worked to make sure he understood our needs. Blake was prompt with his follow up to review the proposal as well. We were kept well informed as to when the job would start. The crews worked well, kept the job site as neat as possible and were very accommodating when we had questions, etc. Blake stayed in touch through out the project to insure we were happy. The quality of workmanship and materials was very high we are very pleased with the outcome; very satisfied. Blake, Mark and his siding crew all worked very hard to insure that we were well taken care of. I would, and have, recommended Classic to others needing work.

From the original visit by the estimator through to the completion of the project, we couldn't have been more pleased. This is a first rate company in all aspects. How'd it go? From the initial quote from Brian Holder, until the job was finished, everything progressed smoothly and without incident. Brian gave us all options regarding siding materials such as vinyl vs fiber cement. We chose vinyl, and he then educated us on the choices for install ---from placing the vinyl over our cedar (which could be done since the cedar was in good repair) to removing the cedar and starting from scratch. Pros and cons were discussed, and we never felt that Brian was encouraging us to choose one route over another. He wanted us to choose what was best for us and our situation, and he provided much information for us to make the decision. The crew was here every day at 8 a.m. ready to work, broke for lunch, and returned to work until 5 p.m. They were knowledgeable, hard working and very careful and clean with the surroundings. Classic provided us quality products installed by quality employees for a fair price. We are thrilled with our "new used" home, and have received many compliments from our neighbors.
Description of Work: Removed cedar siding, and wrapped with a vapor barrier before installing CertainTeed siding along with replacing the porch ceiling with bead siding. Everything was included --- window trims, door trims, fascia, gutters, soffits and anything related to the install. Additionally, we removed and replaced the 3/4 wrap front porch with composite decking, vinyl railings and columns, new steps, and lighting for the steps. Last, a new bay window was installed in the kitchen area. The work, from beginning to end, was completed in two weeks.

We weren't pleased at all with our experience with Classic Construction. We started off with a lack of responsiveness from the salesperson. We had questions about the color we were choosing and wanted additional details which were very slow in coming. Unfortunately this became a signal of problems to come. The workers were messy, leaving nails and trash in our yard and driveway on several occasions. On two occasions they left our back gate open, even after we asked them to be mindful of it. One of the most troublesome issues was regarding the quality of the work that was done. We were replacing defective masonite siding on our house with vinyl and we had recently received a legal settlement based upon the fact that the court reviewer deemed that over 90% of our siding was rotted. There were several places where we could put our fingers right through the wood. We were assured that the rotten boards would be removed and replaced with plywood prior to the vinyl installation. After several days we noticed that there were ZERO pieces of rotted board in the dumpster they were using. When we brought this up, we were assured that the boards they covered were in good condition. Since the siding was already installed over these places, there was little we could do to confirm. However we kept our eye on several key areas where we knew the board to be rotten. Sure enough, those areas were covered without replacing the board. When we brought the issue to their attention again, we were treated by the workers and the owner as though we were being overly picky. My husband missed a day of work to stay home and make sure that they removed several areas of siding and replaced the boards before reinstalling. In addition, the dumpster company they subcontracted scratched and stained our driveway which had been recently paved. The owner pushed us to work directly with the dumpster company instead of managing his subcontractor. We declined, and asked him to resolve the issue on his own before payment would be made. While the driveway was improved with cleaning, it is still not in very good condition and was definitely not left as it was found. Classic agreed to compensate us with a $300 discount, which we accepted despite our displeasure with the outcome. We had a whole slew of other problems including screen hardware that was lost. They blamed this on us saying that it was left on the porch, when in fact we had seen a bag of hardware placed on the side of the dumpster the day before the dumpster was to be removed. They eventually purchased new screen hardware at their expense. Another unsettling issue was the fact that while the saleperson and owner promised a labor warranty, they refused to provide anything in writing and said that the warranty was verbal only. I take responsibility for this because we should have required the details in writing before we started the work. In my opinion, a verbal warranty is like no warranty at all. I will wrap up by saying that the appearance of the house is great. The quality of the materials they used is good and the materials do have a written warranty that we can rely on. However, these products are also used by other contractors and based on my experience, I would recommend you go with them instead of using Classic Construction.

Everything went well. Brian was responsive to our needs, was always on time, and acted professionally when dealing with us. The renderings were of a very high-quality, too. My only issue was that we received just paper renderings instead of a DVD as I had expected. In Brian's defense, however, I didn't question him on the matter.
Description of Work: They consulted with us on a sunroom installation and provided 3-D renderings.

Working with Classic Construction was a very positive experience from start to finish with this deck project. The new deck and doors exceeded our expectations. It was a large deck to replace however we felt the pricing was reasonable. Brian Holder was so helpful with the planning and design process and we appreciated that he kept up in the loop with every part of the project. Brent, Brian and Nate were friendly, polite and built a beautiful deck. We look forward to using Classic Construction again for future projects and highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Removed existing deck. Replaced with Certain Teed composite deck boards, RDI Endurance white railing system. Replaced 2 doors with Therma Tru fiberglass French doors.

Since I live away from the property I emailed very explicit information to Brian about what I was looking for. Brian responded quickly to the pictures and seemed to understand what I wanted. He told me her would get back to me either the end of the week or beginning of the next week with a concept and a ballpark estimate. By Tuesday of the following week I hadn't heard from him so I dropped him an email. The next day I got an email that I had to laugh at... It was an "estimate" for the work I was requesting. $24,000 for the deck and $12,000 for the pergola. The "sketch" he sent me was a smaller deck then I have now and not at all what what I explained. In recent experience, a friend had a composite deck build of 25' x 50' x 4', with custom stairs and railing with under lighting installed for $18k (including tear out of old deck) in Maryland. I was dumbfounded that an approximately 30' x 28' x 12" with 2 raised sections and a 20' x 10' pergola that you can buy in a kit for $6400, would cost $36,000 (plus) in Virginia. I was very disappointed and will continue to look for a contractor that is more reasonable in price.
Description of Work: I sent Brian photos of the deck to be replaced and a picture of the pergola I wanted put over a swimspa (to be installed)

Classic was one of several quotes we received for this work and they happened to be the lowest. Price was not the only reason we went with Classic as they had been highly recommended by a close friend. Classic started the job on time and the crew was awesome and trustworthy. The electrician found that we had very dangerous junction boxes which had previously caught fire and he wasn't satisfied to simply drywall over so he replaced all of our basement electrical system with minimal additional charge which Classic made up for by finding savings in other areas. To be honest we didn't have high expectations of our basement as the house was built in 1940 and the basement was in rough shape. We worked with one of Classic's recommended partners to waterproof the basement before work began and the final product has blown my wife and I away. The quality and attention to detail were incredible as were the products used to finish our basement. The crew used very high quality paint and went the extra mile to trim around and make our entertainment center look custom. Weather caused the project to take about a week longer than expected but I couldn't imagine any contractor doing a better job and for such a great value. I'll be recommending Classic and Brian to all of our friends.
