Description of Work: I have used Carroll Plumbing for years and have found them to be an outstanding business with whom to do business. This time I had a toilet which needed to be worked on. The workmen arrived on time as scheduled and immediately assessed the problem. As it was a messy day, they removed their shoes before the entered my home! Steven, the foreman, kept me up on exactly what needed to be done and explained the procedure and the costs. We had to replace my toilet and repair some leaky pipes. The guys did a fine job, keep everything spotless, and were finished in an appropriate time. I recommend Carroll Plumbing highly.

Description of Work: I had made an appointment for Carroll Plumbing to do preventative maintenance on my home's gas-fired furnace on 10/16/2012. I was told that the labor charge was $110/hr and the service personnel would be at my home sometime between 1-3pm on that day. I took time from work to be home for the service. Wishing to get a better idea of when the company would come to my house, I called their office shortly after 1pm. I was told that "they are running late" and that I should expect them between 2 and 3pm. They never came. The service personnel never called. The office never called. This is now over 2 weeks and still no call back from Carroll Plumbing. This is the second bad experience I have had with Carroll Plumbing. A number of years ago I asked them and paid to repair a leak in a furnace pipe under the house. They repaired a small part of the problem and gave me an estimate to replace all the main heating pipes in the crawlspace leading from the furnace to the rest of the house. That estimate seemed to me ridiculous. However in getting to their estimate, they destroyed all the insulation on all the pipes for a distance of over 50 feet; leaving me to purchase new insulation and do the personal labor to replace their destruction. Please don't tell me they had to tear out the insulation on all 4 main pipes for 50-60 ft to "find the connection points between the furnace and the next connection point along the heating line" Today, I had my furnace serviced by another company, Warriner Plumbing, that was responsive and did a great job. Description of Work: I had a problem with my toilet tank being unable to stay full and leaking water. This is a rather routine repair, but I do have 1920's toilets with the high tanks and I treasure these old fixtures. The repair person was very sensitive to this and recommended a new type of internal installation that would save time - but he mentioned that he would gladly redo it if I didn't like his first suggestion. I was pleased with what he did and all is running smoothly. He also checked another toilet that I thought might be about to have trouble and he assured me it was fine. He arrived on time, was totally professional, and was very careful and considerate of the antique fixtures. The price was steep, but I was more interested in a job carefully and well done, with no harm to my fixtures. I would use them again.

Description of Work: Have use Carroll's plumbing for a number of jobs - Replace/installed a old water house filter and installed a new valve to this filter so I don't have to keep going to the street to turn off water- Caroll's plumbing (Pete) did a great job showing how to replace the new filter.. with the new valve. 142.00 Condensation pump had failed on HVAC- Replaced condensation pump/reconfigured drains to pump..installed ez trap secondary safety to prevent future fooding of crawl. 311.25. I was delighted that (Eric) was able to reconfigure the drain off the floor. Installation of a gaslog fire ventless place set- Caroll helped with the reordering process of a damaged gas log set that I had purchased from pleasant's hardware and did the installation. Older guy with grey hair(sorry don't know name)...did this one...Lee helped. Have use them for upkeep for this heating system.

Description of Work: Fixed badly leaking inlet pipe to kitchen sink. Charlie cut out bad pipe, fittings and shut off valve. He also replaced a toilet flapper on a leaking toilet. He also went under the crawl space and he gave me good advice on how to handle a sluggish sewer drain line. His advice on what not to do was important to me. I usually do my own plumbing and electrical work, but did not have the time. Charlie knew exactly what to do and did it. Parts = $33; Labor including travel from downtown Richmond = $119.00. One hour labor from arrival time to departure.
