+ -1 morePhil Daniels came to our house and explained the installation process and cost and we set up to have installed on November 13, 2013. We had the installation done and have been very pleased with the service. Before the service guy left he explained how to use the system and also provided a booklet for any issues we might have. I have looked at the booklet a few times to learn more about the system but it has helped us feel more secure.

+ -1 moreMy experience overall has been very dissatisfying. The alarm system does not work at all. They have had to come out several times to look at the system. They said the equipment was faulty and installed new equipment and it still does not work. I would not recommend this company to others.

+ -1 moreWe just had an episode where Darrell came out yesterday and worked so hard to take care of a very unusual problem. He was amazing. Other technicians who came out were not able to repair the system but Darrell and Leslie were able to get it working again. I believe that the quality of repair is directly related to the tech who comes out. They did cut us a deal, they didn't charge us for services. Someone had tried to fix this issue 3 times and hasn't been able to fix. So we were thrilled that he got in here, he was determined and got it fixed for us.
Description of Work: Darrell from ADT Security Service came out to install some wireless things and also repaired the alarm system. The repair was covered under warranty.

+ -1 moreInitial call for info was followed almost immediately by a return call which was followed in a few days by a visit from a Richmond office representative. We discussed in detail the options for our situation and a contract was signed. The installation was planned for a day of my convenience. The Technician arrived as planned, the job was completed without delay. An extra monitor was requested that same morning and was delivered to the job site a few hours later in time to be installed without delaying the completion schedule. Tip top performance by all concerned----I was very pleased.

+ -1 moreADT is not reliable in my opinion. They canceled a first appointment at the last minute. I then rescheduled for 8am to noon on a Saturday and they were almost 2 hours late after I waited for them to show up for almost 6 hours. When the ADT technician got here, the installation technician said the appointment was for a later time in the day than what ADT corporate and the sale tech Chris Hite agreed upon. Having paid up front with a credit card, I will now require that they disgorge the prepayment. If ADT can't be relied upon to show up on time, can they be relied upon to provide acceptable security service when time is of the essence? During a crime in progress? I wonder. It may be time for ADT corporate to reassess the performance of Richmond Virginia sales manager Jay Greene, and saleman Christ Hite.

+ -1 moreI was tempted to default on paying the last 6 month part of the monitoring agreement and fight it out in court, but finally negotiated the claim down to $180 and paid it to stop the continuing sick feeling in the pit of my stomach induced by ADT's methods and procedures focused more on sales commissions than customer service. Oh, after more than 15 calls to the saleswoman, I accidently caught her once in the corporate office and got my call transferred, probably accidentally, by the receptionist and she answered.
Description of Work: Signed a one year lease for a rental home in Charlottesville, VA starting July 2011 and wanted alarm monitoring for an existing system. ADT's Richmond-based saleswoman was not truthful when she told me the special deal 18 month monitoring agreement (normally 3 years) would be no problem for a 12 month rental because if the new renters agreed to use ADT I would be released from the last 6 months of the deal. On that basis I signed the agreement, including a maintenance contract that would include battery replacements. The first service call was a few weeks later. First appointment for the system now jeopardized by a critical zone not working was in 10 days. Ten days later the dispatcher called to say the tech was running late and would have to reschedule, with the earliest appointment being another two weeks (24 days with a compromised system). A month later the same thing happened vis-a-vis a 14 day appointment for a failing system. Now for the best part. After 12 months the new renters were willing to take over the monitoring agreement, but OH NO, ADT does not do that. First offering the new 12 month renters a 36 month commitment, they dropped it to an 18 month commitment. The new renters were smart enough to see the writing on the wall - a burglar might sneak in via a non-working zone, but there is no escaping ADT's monitoring contract. I ended up having to pay $170 to get out of the contract. I feel deceived and used and will steer anyone away from this company. Update: Three months after paying $170 in ransom money to ADT, I was shocked to receive a refund of the penalty. Maybe Angieslist.com helped. I would still not recommend ADT, and my evaluation grades stand as is. I now have purchased a house and shopped around, finding that SmartSecuritySolutions.net provided me with a system and monitoring, with a 12 month commitment, for about 60% of ADT's price. I referred the renters to them and they went that route.

+ -1 moreI've used them for 5 1/2 years. It is an okay system. The best part is that it gives me a panic button to put by my bed so if I get scared during the middle of the night, I can hit it. It is a very minimal system. I've never had to use it. They were on time when they installed it but that was the last that I've seen them. I would recommend them for a very basic system. It was $99 for the installation.

+ -1 moreThey came only a couple of times to the house and they were very nice. They were very professional. I have set the alarm off several times and they respond quickly. They were punctual, it was like to have a fire truck, the police and the rescue squad show up in your driveway in seconds when I was trying to get the key in the lock.

I haven't had any problems with them, the service works fine and I haven't really had to use them. No one had broken in my house and as far as I know it's working. As far as I know they are very professional, I don't really deal with a person.

+ -1 moreADT is good but they are a mess when it comes to billing. We actually had to drive out to the main center in Richmond. They apologized and said they'd resolve the issue. Then it happened again. For that reason, we recently left them. I'd call them pretty average I guess and I think I just might not recommend them only because of our billing experience with them.

+ -1 moreWe have worked with ADT for over 20 years. The annual amount for the system coverage and service has been worth the money. Our kids feel more secure at home and we feel good when we're out of town. It's been dependable and they are good about fixing any problems quickly and well. I'd recommend the service contract that actually covered the entire cost of updating the system one year. If we had to pay for the new equipment, it would have run over $2,500.

I find them to be very easy to deal with, reliable, and easy to communicate with. I feel that it is a fair price, and the work they do is always to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: ADT charges me about forty dollars a month to maintain my alarm service. If I remember correctly, they charged me about a hundred dollars to initially hook up my alarm system.

+ -1 moreADT seems to be one of the top alarm corporations in the world and I can see why. They do very well with maintaining everything and keeping everything up to date. I have never had any complaints with them at all. I never really had a true emergency, but the alarm has gone off a few times and they have always responded very quickly. I plan to continue my services with them, because their pricing is also good for me.

+ -1 moreI felt very secure with their services although we have only had false alarms each time the alarm has gone off. ADT called us immediately and afterwards the local sheriff showed up. If it was a false alarm the city or town charged us $25, but we love their services.

+ -1 moreAt first I was not satisfied with this company because my alarm kept going off when it wasn t supposed to and my keypad was messed up. When they came back they fixed it and everything worked out great. They hold up to their agreement every time an alarm goes off they are right on it and they call they local authorities when needed. I have used them for about nine years now and I will continue to use them.
