Ace Drywall & Plastering

Unfortunately, we are very displeased with Charles' work in our upstairs bathroom. He did some work in our kitchen a couple of years ago, and it was fine, so we hired him again. This job was slightly more complicated because there were a couple areas where his plaster work needed to meet up with the tile shower, and another area where the ceiling is sloped (since the house is cape cod-style), so he needed to match the slope of the ceiling across the rest of the room where the plaster didn't need repair. These areas are basically butchered and we're going to need to rip it out and re-do it. This is especially frustrating since he came by our house twice before beginning his work to discuss the scope of the project. He reiterated on multiple occasions that he'd make it look really nice, and at no point expressed concern about his ability to handle the more difficult areas. Now that his work is done and we've expressed displeasure with the areas he didn't handle well, he goes on making excuses about how this is the best he could do accounting for the structure of the building and the work of the tile guy. It seems fair to me to warn someone if you think the circumstances are such that you're not going to be able to do a great job. The straightforward walls he worked on are fine. Anything with a higher degree of difficulty is not. I'd hesitate to recommend him to anyone, but if I did, it would only be for relatively simple projects.
