I was very pleased with the work! He was very flexible with his schedule, met me at the house on Saturday & Sunday. RJ is very experienced, he was able to easily diagnose some issues with old outlets not working, adding GFIs and had cost effective solutions for light fixture replacement.
Description of Work: Re-wired all the outlets and switches in an older home in Reston, VA. He also brought the outlets up to code, adding 8 GFI's. He installed light fixtures as requested. He did a major updating of the house's electrical. He did it over 30 hours. His pricing was very fair, he did not mark up the supplies costs due to the hours of labor that was required to perform this service.

The estimate visit was on time and fast! They worked me in quickly. The work is great. One small problem with a connector that caused a portion of the lights to not come on on day two. They came right out and fixed it. Love my lights! The "con" is minor, but I should mention them. On day one, the installers cracked a corner off of a butter dish. It was my fault because I should have moved it. The problem was that they tried to hide it. By the time I noticed they had already vacummed up the pieces and thrown them out. It was a hand made pottery piece so no replacement is possible. I talked to them about it, and they seemed embarrassed to have been caught. I would have understood if they just said something when it happened. This was more a reflection of not watching the work as it occurred, I think, than of the company in general.
Description of Work: I had undercabinet lighting installed.

He is quick to respond, certified journeyman electrician that is very fair and reliable. Does very good work.
Description of Work: He has helped me out twice. First time I was selling a house in Reston and the home inspection revealed a problem with the junction box, it wasn't grounded. He fixed it within a tight time frame for a fair price. Second time he fixed an outlet on our pool that had given us trouble for a while, still working 2 years later.

Roger is a real standout in terms of his service, knowledge, efficiency, work ethic (need I go on!) I echo what all the other positive reviewers had to say about RJC here on Angie's List. Together they provide a very accurate picture of what to expect from RJC. I really appreciated his efforts too save me money by suggesting other less material/labor intensive ways to accomplish certain aspects of the project. I was also very impressed by his honest and accurate billing for actual time on the job.
Description of Work: Had several new circuits run from service panel up through the walls to the attic and into a bathroom that was being remodeled.

The men arrived on time (actually earlier), replaced my damaged ceiling fan and cleaned up afterward. I was more than pleased with their work and their professionalism and would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend and will definitely call on them again in the future.
Description of Work: My damaged ceiling fan was replaced, which required going into the attic and repairing the electrical box which had been damaged also.

Fantastic, Kick Butt Job...........Wow!!!!! Roger was here when he said hew would be;and did what he said he would in the time he said it would take. Very easy to work your schedule around him. Great communication skills on the job and on the phone. I always knew where we were in terms of what work was being done per day and what would be done the next . If there were any changes as the job progressed, I was informed before they were made for approval. The work was performed in an expedient manner. Roger runs the job very very well and keeps a clean and orderly work site. My wife and I were extremely pleased with the entire project and would recommend RJC to anyone.
Description of Work: RJC installed new wiring for lights and receptacles. lights and receptacles in basement kitchen, laundry, bedroom and reworking of existing wiring in basement rec area per code.plus added a receptacle upstairs and two dimmers. We ran additional circuits at my request beyond code as I was not looking for shortcuts. Roger helped design the overhead light placements which came out much better than originally planned. RJC provided all the labor and material .

He was a nice guy. He did good work. He was difficult to get a hold of (it can take a good week for him to respond). When he finished, he told me to call him if I had and problems or additional questions, which I did a month later and he told me he didn't have time to come out.
Description of Work: He installed 3 new circuits on my electrical panel and ran three new lines from those circuits. He also determined my ground rod was missing or broken so he installed a new one.

Response from RJC Electrical
I was first contacted by the member due to his concern for a new service panel upgrade/replacement. At that time, he had mentioned that he already received quotes from "other" electrical contractors in the area. I then quoted him "my" estimate, which was "HALF" the "COST" of his prior estimates! When I scheduled the "site" visit, I was directed to the panel location and noticed his finished basement area was in the process of being demolished. At that time I questioned the reason why and the member responded with a possible mold/moisture problem. I then suggested to him that while the walls and framing studs are being removed, it would be a good oppurtunity to re-wire the outlets to meet the current electrical Code requirements and the Permit Process necessary to complete the project properly.I also, let him know at that time, that if he we're to allow me to bid on the other electrical work needed, I would further reduce the panel estimate even further.I also indicated to him, the additional circuits he would need to install to bring the area up to "CODE" standards. As time went on, I found myself submitting additional bids, at his request, for a portion of the work that needed to be done, NOT the entire project. I was, at this point, still "walking" him through the permit process even though, I had the feeling of NOT getting the job. After all was said and done, I was able to save him the cost of a New Panel and re-wire the existing panel to accomodate his circuit needs. I NEVER received the go-ahead to perform the work for the entire project. He had told me that the contractor he hired was going to do the entire project, but, Would I install the circuits necessary for him. I agreed and also, repaired a major grounding issue for his electrical service! Now, by this time, I was working 7 days a week and most of which was out-of-town projects in the Baltimore, Richmond and Ocean City area's. When I first met with the member, I was very much in need of work and the member still refused me his project, even after all the time and effort I had devoted to him! Now, after his project was completed by "OTHERS", he realized there were some electrical issues that were Not satisfied by his contractor. At that time, he called me again, asking me to please come out to troubleshoot and repair the electrical installation completed by other's. I explained to the member at that time, I didn't have the any spare time due to the fact, that the large projects on-going were out-of-town and I am working to complete these projects, as they are under contractural agreements and deadlines, and that I am already working 7 days a week. The member still persisted to try to get me to come back out and even went as far, as to infer, that if I didn't, he would Not give me a favorable rating on the Angie's List website! Well, I guess he was right considering his response! RJC Electrical has an impeachable record ever since starting the busineess in 1994. Every job ever started by RJC, has been completed by RJC, and will continue to do so, regardless of the many situations which may arise during the construction process. RJC also guarentee's ALL work performed, for 1 year after the completion date! I thank-you for the oppurtunity to respnd to this client's unfortunate situation. I always reccomend ALL homeowner's use qualified and licensed contractors when considering any work to be performed on thier property!

I contacted RJC based upon signs I saw around the area. He promptly called me back - I told him what I needed and he offerred to stop by that evening to just scope out the work. He arrived promptly, looked over the fans/rooms and said he could do it the following Friday 0800. He quoted me a price of 450 + any materials needed. He came early Friday and said he had hurt his back the previous day and couldn't do the job that AM but didn't want to call b/c he knew we had babies and didn't want to wake anyone, so he came by personally! Very considerate. We rescheduled for that Monday at 0800. He arrived right on time and began to work During the installation we asked if he could move to another room b/c the babies needed their naps - no problem - he quickly changed gears and moved to the other room. The installation took about 4-5 hours and he was home w/our nanny and children. Our nanny told us how considerate and personable he was. During the install I asked him to install a dimmer for the light on the fan - no problem - he went to Home depot p/u the dimmer, installed it and showed me the receipt. The fans look and work great! I will be calling him again to wire our basement up. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Installed 2 ceiling fans to include the electrical box, wiring and dimmer switches. There were no outlets in the ceiling so Roger needed to access the attic, install box/bracket, run wiring etc. The installation cost was $450 and $50 for dimmer parts he p/u at Home Depot.

I hired RJC from a sign placed at Trader Joe's in Reston advertising his services as a master electrician with thirty years experience. He came over the next day, looked at the project, and sent an estimate a couple of days later. My first impression of Roger was that he was honest, experienced. and he offered that he had worked a few houses in our neighborhood so I realized I could call for a reference,if needed. We hired Roger and he was able to start within our requirements. He thoroughly discussed the lighting placement, switches, dimmers, gave options, and generally went out of his way to ensure the areas could be as well lit as conveniently possible. His level of professionalism insists a high safety standard and would not even consider proceeding without the proper permits and inspections. Initially I hired RJC for the basement project but quickly had other work for him to consider. These other projects upstairs nearly doubled the original estimate but given the scope of work it was very fair. Additionally, Roger made several trips to supply parts stores searching for just the right part/color because I had requested it. He did not charge me for this time when he could have. Roger arrived on schedule, stayed as scheduled, covered the areas around his work space with clean drop cloths, cleaned up after himself, kept a tidy work space, and respected our household. We were very pleased with his services and will use RJC Electrical in the future.
Description of Work: RJC installed Eighteen 6" recessed light fixtures, Two 4" adjustable recessed lights, two dimmers, three new three-way switches, one new lighting circuit, one new single switch, microwave, dishwasher, disposal and small appliance circuit, five bar outlets, one GFI, and one refrigerator outlet, obtained permits required for remodeled basement project and was present for inspection. Installed upstairs-- take down and replace new chandelier in foyer, take down and replace new ceiling fan in family room(both requiring a 30 ft.ladder),new install three overhead bedroom room lights and one dimmer,
