+ -1 moreThe project went well. I had been referred to John by another craftsman that I trust. He was working a job in Potomac when I called him. It took about a week before he could come but it was worth it. The other estimate for repair was about the same price but the handyman would have re-secured only the base of the railing to the floor. John's opinion was that approach would not have provided the improvement I was seeking.
Description of Work: My stair railing wobbled slightly and was not child proof. It was a do-it-yourself installation. John McGahan and his partner removed two posts, which were secured to the floor with only two 3/16" wooden dowels. They screwed two bolts into the floor for each post and re-secured them, then re-attached the railing. The repair took only 90 minutes and was completely satisfactory. I'm taking care of the necessary restaining and finishing myself.
