I knew there was something wrong with the water heater setup in my house since we kept getting this "black soot" coming into the bathtub whenever we would run the hot water. Town came out and tested the water and didn't find anything. Water heater is only 4-years old, so I wasn't sure what was going on. Came on Home Advisor on a Sunday, and got a call first thing in the morning on Monday from Jonathan. He was going to come out Monday afternoon, but Thursday worked better for me. He came right after he knew I'd be home. After assessing the water heater setup, he saw that the culprit of the "black soot" was a hose connected between the water heater and copper piping. The hose has a stainless steel exterior, but is completely rubber on the inside. The hose was deteriorating and sending the the particles through the pipes. Jonathan ran out to get the supplies he needed and quickly returned to complete the work. It was going to be cheaper to replace the hose with one a little better, but after asking how much more it would be to replace the hose with copper, Jonathan said that since the job was going so smoothly he wouldn't charge extra. Jonathan also noticed that the expansion tank wasn't working properly. It was filled with water, when it's supposed to just be filled with air, so he replaced that as well. It ended up fixing an issue we were having when flushing the toilets as well. The pipes would rumble after flushing each time, but now that the expansion tank is working properly, that went away! Jonathan will explain everything to you and be as courteous as can be in the process. He comes from a family of plumbers and takes his work very seriously. His experience is evident, and he will not try and gouge you for extra money. And again, he will educate you on how everything works so you know exactly what the issue is, so you get a little knowledge during the process. I highly recommend him!
