About us

We are now a Class A contractor. Our business focus will change with this new status. We will not be able to take on as many smaller projects as in the past. However, if you want to know the most information possible about your project prior to work beginning, you are in the right place, but please do not use us as an estimating service. We provide evaluations, (sometimes at a fee) of the requested work with budgetary estimates that you can use to make your decisions. Our extensive construction knowledge sets us apart from all the other companies and we are simply the best value out there. Our ability to "value engineer" a project is superior and we will guard some information/trade secrets to ensure we stay above the "pack". Once you commit to ZPL, you will be educated from start to finish. We function as a family owned & operated business and I am a working boss spending a great deal of time in the field on your projects making sure all is done well which helps to ensures our standards remain high. This can however, slow our response times on estimates and scheduling estimates from time to time so please be patient with us. You will get the same great service others are getting right now after you commit to ZPL and are scheduled accordingly. We are adding tradesmen as we can afford and as we find the right folks which will help us serve more of you quicker. If you are reading this please be sure to visit our website and fill out the contact form. This will ensure we can contact you ASAP. www.zeropunchlist.com Please be patient with us. We will give you the same dedication we are giving our current clients when your turn comes around. Rome was not built in a day and although the internet has made it very easy to make contact with someone's business, there are still logistical issues to coordinate and resolve before we all get what we want and when we want it. We will serve you with the same exhaustive service we are giving our current clients. We accept checks and cash for services rendered. If you are using one of our coupons or taking advantage of the senior discount (65 yrs), please let us know that prior to soliciting an estimate. Thanks. We are so much more than what you might think

This house is a tri-level suburban house built in 1959. The basement consists of a utility room, a bathroom and a large room with two closets. The large room can be used as a den or family room, and all four walls were made of pine paneling. Two of those paneled walls were removed when the basement waterproofing was done. Parts of walls were knocked out in the space between the two adjoining closets and also in the bathroom. In order to rebuild the walls, the crew from Zero Punch List (consisting of the father, his daughter and son and a long-time family friend) had to construct a wooden support structure that only attached to the floor and ceiling and did not punch any holes in the waterproofing system on the walls. After that, they mounted all the materials that go into drywall on top of the wood structure. Finally, they rebuilt the walls in the closets and bathroom. All of this took six days, although they were not necessarily there for eight hours a day. Besides the walls, Mr. Hinden noted when I first met with him that the duct work of the HVAC unit was sagging noticeably from the ceiling of the utility room. I had not noticed it, but they fixed that as well, per contract. Weston Hinden, the father, is extremely personable and wants to go a good job both in terms of construction and in terms of the aesthetics. They are a little less systematic than some contractors. They may show up an hour after they say they will, but that's all right with me. I paid them as they worked and upon request. I paid $3,000 after they'd been there for two days, and then $3,400 after another two days, and finally $3,400 when they were done, but I don't think that Mr. Hinden would have minded if I'd written the first check for a little more or less than $3,000. It all worked out. I found Mr. Hinden extremely easy to get along with and am happy with the result.
Description of Work: I needed basement walls rebuilt after basement waterproofing was done.

Firstly, I would love to know who you are. We show no such client in our QuickBooks or email searches. Further we show no $695 deposit for such work. Sooooo..... I am not sure how to respond to your review with ratings all over the spectrum. This actually looks like SPAM or slander. Please accurately identify yourself and when we performed the work you claim so we can address the review with an appropriate reply. Weston Hinden

Weston and team did a great job. Everything was done with great quality and on time. We had a variety of projects and all of them were done well and we have been thrilled with the results since it was complete. He was courtesy to us as well as our kids when they came home from school while they were still working. As we were going through the design, Weston would share his thoughts and opinions and help us understand the impacts of some of our choices. I would definitely use them again.

Hmmm. I am so sorry, but I do not recall working for you and I can not find your address or personal information in our record keeping anywhere during the 2014 year or through a general search. Though we are very happy when clients take their time to submit a review on our work performance, we want to make sure that the review is a review of our company and not of another. I will need to ask the assistance of my Angie's List account manager to help further the validity and accuracy of this review. Though a "B" is still a good review, when we do "a very good job" we normally receive A's. Mr. [member name removed], if can forward additional information we will gladly update our records. Weston Hinden and the crew from Zero-Punchlist were fantastic! The attention to detail was very much appreciated. During our entire remodeling process, if something was not completed up to their standards (which are very high), it was redone. This did not happen often. All of the work throughout our project was thoroughly explained and/or options were given to us. Everyone was friendly and very easy to work with. At the end of each workday, the work area was decluttered and swept. Overall, the quality of service went above and beyond our expectations. I would highly recommend Zero-Punchlist to others if they want their job done right!

I always read reviews when I choose a provider and the reviews were great for this provider. I saw that someone gave them an F because services were not performed. Well I'm giving them an A because services were not performed. They were punctual and not only did they tell me that they were not the provider I should go with they explained why and gave me a recommendation and will make sure we connect. Although they will not be providing the service for this job they gave me feedback and advice that was extremely helpful. Now I know what to do and where to start with getting the work done that I need. They could have easily taken my money and run with it but these guys are HONEST and I don't say that lightly. My only wish is that I can in the future be able to work with them. I learned so much from you in a little less than an hour :)

Weston and his team were great to work with. Our new home lacked an office space which made it less functional for us. My husband found a picture where the space in a two story entryway was used to create an upstairs loft. I had another contractor come out to provide an estimate and they could not even envision what we were asking to be done. When Weston came to view our space, he immediately started looking at the proportions and measuring the space! I feel very fortunate for us to have found someone who could help us take our idea and make it concrete. We did not realize it at the time, but the space was fairly small and narrow, so it could not be used to add an extra room, but with Weston's help we were able to use space from the oversized master bedroom that abutted the area to create an office and also add closet space. Our ideas at the time were not fleshed out, because we were not sure it could be done. Weston was instrumental in helping us to decide how we wanted to use the space and the practical realities of what could be done. He was a great communicator and ensured that the details were discussed and executed deliberately. Weston also created custom bookshelves for the new hallway. He was very up front about the fact that we could buy bookshelves off the rack to put in the space for much less, but we wanted something permanent and also something that could be bolted to the wall studs for safety. Weston is meticulous about the work that is done and will fix anything that is not done to a high standard. I appreciated that he took the time to ensure that the paint work both in the rooms and on the custom shelving was done right. There were some delays with the project when there was staff turnover or if someone was ill. However, I was not on a specific timeline, so it was more important to me that the work be done correctly than that it met a deadline. It took me a bit of time to write this review, because I was pregnant at the time and things did not settled down until recently, but I definitely wanted to provide feedback on the great job that was done.
Description of Work: Created a 2nd floor hallway in what used to be the 2 story entryway space. Created an office and additional storage closets from space that used to be part of the master bedroom. This project included the installation of flooring, doors, an interior office window, lighting, shelving, etc. for the new spaces. Installed custom made book shelves in the new upstairs hallway and in the new office space. Made over the garage space by removing old shelving, installing new shelves, installing a wall tv bracket, installing cable lines, installing window shades, painting the garage, removing old wood stairs and installing sturdier steps. This also includes a laundry list of smaller items such as installing new lighting fixtures in two rooms, hanging an entryway mirror, etc.

What I DID like: High Quality Work, Professional Workers, Competitively Priced What I DID NOT LIKE: 4 weeks later than estimated (2 weeks I was gone on vacation and no work was performed), Underestimated laminate flooring costs, thus I had to pay 1200 more from their subcontractor - NOTE I would NOT have gotten the laminate flooring if I was given an accurate estimate, as it was WAY higher than I would have paid with that extra 1000 bucks. For anyone in the future: 1) Include something in the contract where if they are a month late, they need to be penalized. 2) Have the contract state that any wrong estimates for work performed will be EATEN/NOT TO EXCEED the quote. Its one thing if they didnt have the sq footage, but they did. They left out the moulding costs and underestimated the costs of materials. Would I use them again? Maybe, I know the quality and staff is good, the budget and money are important too and I got hosed by 1200, and had to send their subcontractor out to fix one of the boards. It was fixed (as it should be), so I am on the fence. I guess I just say, High Quality Work, timing and estimates should be discussed. Im a rental property owner, so I am more serious about timing and going over budget. Each month late is a month I am not receiving 900/mo in rents, so it is serious for my business.
Description of Work: GC renovation for rental property. New cement walk way, fence, paint throughout, new deck, paint cabinets, fix holes in wall, new laminate flooring, etc.

[member name removed], WOW! The only accurate "negative" thing you have manged to say is that we did start the project @ 3 weeks after we had hoped to start. Now, so I don't have to go through this whole lengthy conversation again, now @ 12 months later, helping you understand that you only paid @ $400 more for laminate flooring vs. your expanded scope of work refinishing your floors. I will simply cut and paste your own words from our email traffic that supports the $400 amount and not the long winded babbling from your review. We always keep our email records for just such purposes when someone miss speaks. I thought that when it finally took your accountant to show you the actual "math" that this issue was over since it was your own decisions that brought you to this point. I can't begin to express how impressed I am with Zero Punch List's job on my old bathroom. It now looks like something out of a magazine. I wish there was a way to post photos on this thing. This was my first major renovation, and Weston was knowledgeable and insightful - he provided several suggestions that wouldn't have occurred to me, and were a huge help. I obtained two other quotes before meeting with Weston, and I liked his open personality from the beginning. I also liked the fact that he is on-site and does a lot of the work himself instead of subbing everything out. It was icing on the cake that Weston's quote was also the most reasonable of the three I obtained. The only work that was subbed out was the tub surround and floor tile. Weston's work load was very heavy when he started my job, and he explained that he sometimes does the tile himself, but other times uses trusted subs to do the work when he is overloaded. The tile guy did a great job on the tub surround, which included a difficult chevron pattern in the middle; however, he didn't do a great on the marble floor tile. Weston inspected the job after it was completed, and before I could say a word, he apologized for the floor tile and said he would tear it up and do it again himself at his expense. This put us behind schedule, but it was wonderful to have a contractor who is a perfectionist and doesn't make excuses when a problem pops up. My job included several change orders for the subfloor, floor joists, plumbing replacements, etc., and I felt that his charges were very reasonable. I objected to one minor item on the final invoice, and after discussing it, we agreed to split the cost 50/50. I was very satisfied with the end result. Weston is a good communicator and very easy to work with. His employees are courteous and friendly. They cleaned up the work area really well every night, and were otherwise really great to work with. I will (and have) recommend Weston and his crew for all manner of renovations, large and small. The only caveat would be that he's very busy right now, so it might take him a while to fit you in. But the wait will be worth it. :)
Description of Work: Weston fully gutted my 1950's full bathroom down to the studs. He found some (not unexpected) water damage to the subflooring and floor joists after removal of the floor. He replaced the rotten subfloor and installed new supporting joists with a support pier. He placed a vent fan were there was none. Weston also found that my old pipes were clogged and less than 30% open (not a shock), so he replaced those with PVC. He then installed a new tub, installed new drywall, tile work was initially done by a sub, painted and installed fixtures (toilet, wall-hung vanity, light, mirror, etc.) I selected and pre-purchased all fixtures on my own, including tub, tile, sink/vanity, toilet, sink/shower hardware, mirror, light, towel/toilet paper bars and new door knobs. I purchased many of the items, including the tub on Amazon and saved money while getting free shipping!

You would be entitled to state the words in your review if we completely ignored you. However, through a search of our email records for your name and/or your address, we have found that you have not successfully submitted our on-line form, however, we do show a" failed attempt" in our records. It also states that the failed status was "returned to sender". Since you have not provided your phone number in your review we cannot search to see if we have indeed had two conversations with you. Neither myself or my wife recall your name. Sorry. Sometimes folks do fall through the cracks and when they do, we are in the wrong and make every attempt to correct that error. Since our records show that you simply do not exist, we would ask that you think before entering your thoughts that may be ill-informed or unwarranted, through an online forum. Additionally, if we were really the company that you wanted to have perform your work (and not just a company from which to get a free estimate), normally, folks might send a reminder to see if the first attempt went through, or follow up in other ways. Either way, we can't help you if we do not know you exist. Weston Hinden

Weston was very knowledgeable and professional. It is apparent that he has a commitment to quality and positive customer experiences. We would still like to do this project in the future, but at this time were not ready to spend the money

I met several times with the owner, Weston Hinden, to discuss various designs to remodel my kitchen in my 1950's home. The existing kitchen was small and had a partial wall separating a laundry and HVAC area. My desire was to open up the kitchen/laundry area and either relocate the laundry or conceal it in the open design. There were many challenges in relocating the laundry since my home is on a concrete slab. Weston provided several options and ultimately we decided to relocate the laundry to an existing half bath that would allow for a larger kitchen design. The next obstacle was how to incorporate the existing HVAC/Water heater into the open design and still allow access to the units. Weston was the only contractor that i interviewed that suggested constructing a 45 degree wall with double doors to conceal this area. After reviewing other proposals for the remodel, it was evident to me that Zero Punch-List was the right contractor for my project. Weston allowed the option of ordering cabinets through him or providing my own. I opted to order Kraftmaid cabinets and quartz countertops through Lowes allowing me to take advantage of the military veteran discount that Lowes offers. The overall project took 5-6 weeks. This was a complete gutting of the kitchen. The quality of work by Zero Punch-List was exceptional. Weston performed and supervised the majority of the work and the few subcontractors he used performed the work up to his standards. Since my home was constructed in the 1950's, there are many imperfections and Weston came up solutions to address all of them. Weston also made suggestions through-out the project that enhanced the end result. It's hard to express in words the transformation of my kitchen, but it far exceeded anything I could visualize at the beginning of the project. I am sure that none of the other contractors I interviewed could have executed to the quality and level of detail that Weston and Zero Punch-List did. Everyone that has seen the kitchen has been beyond impressed with the work.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel that including gutting existing kitchen and laundry area, relocating laundry room, installing new plumbing, electrical, new walls, drywall, flooring, lighting, installing cabinets and crown molding. Total remodel costs with owner supplied cabinets, counter tops, fixtures, and appliances was $40K.

Of all of the contractors (all found on Angie's List), Eric was the most responsive and understood our objectives the best, which were to work within a relatively limited budget but provide a nice living space for our daughter. The room came out beautifully. Eric was able to locate a small shower unit that fit into our existing space, minimizing the number of walls that had to be removed and rebuilt, saving us a great deal of money. The wood flooring is gorgeous, the paint job excellent, and the stairs came out great as well. The room looks totally transformed. We'd definitely use Zero Punch-List again. By the way, the company lived up to its name with us - we had nothing on the punch list!
Description of Work: We had a playroom above our garage with a very cheap half-bath and we wanted to add a small shower and better fixtures, along with Pergo-type flooring and paint, so that it would be more like a small apartment for our daughter to live in while attending college. We had several people come in and give us estimates, and ultimately selected Zero Punch-List. The hitch was that we were moving to Houston and would be gone when the work was done, so we really had to trust the contractor.

[member name removed], I am, glad we hit the mark. We try very hard to understand our clients wants and needs. Some times the structure itself will dictate what can or can't be done. Glad the space is what you wanted. Weston

Zero Punchlist were a pleasure to work with; from the first phone contact to them to the finish. We had mold on our basement bathroom ceiling due to water overflow from our washmachine located directly above the bathroom; they removed the ceiling and parts of the wall where mold was evident. Upon removing the ceiing, they noticed a tremendous amount of lint build up from the dryer: the hose from the dryer had come loose at one point obviously years ago therefore allowing the lint to build up directly above the bathroom ceiling. Zero Punchlist removed all the lint and reconnected the vent hose back to where it came loose. After that unexpected surprise, they proceeded to replace the ceiling and some drywall on the walls. From there' sized' the walls in preparation to wallpaper. My ONLY disappointment was the wallpaper hangers they hired; she was very nice however the wallpapering job itself was a B-. I have wallpapered in the past and always made sure you could not see seams and in this bathroom you can see almost every overlapped seam. Part of the problem may have been that I did not order quite enough wallpaper and she was making due with what I had....I truly understand that issue. Aside from the wallpapering, the work done by Zero Punchlist was an A! Enjoyed visiting with them when they arrived each day....delightful people!
Description of Work: Removed drywall from ceiling and some areas of the walls in our downstairs bathroom. Removed existing wallpaper; replaced drywall; replaced wallpaper.

Thank you for your review. My apologies for not entering our response sooner. It has been a very busy winter and spring and not without it's scheduling issues. Zoning delays, permit delays, damaged cabinets that needed to reordered (twice). Etc. I am glad you approved of our work and we too enjoyed your company. Your dogs were great too! Weston

In a cute way we are glad that you feel your porch cost was as little as $800. The actual cost was @ $2,950 for the porch decking replacement and $750 to paint it twice for a total of 3,700 We are glad you enjoyed our work and appreciated our efforts. With regular cleaning and maintenance, you should get many years form the work. We look forward to serving you again in the future. Please remember to keep the downspouts/gutters clear so water does not repeat it's damage. Thanks again for the opportunity. Weston and Lori
