In October 2007 I tried to get an estimate for some tree work from Eastern Tree company, but Jeremiah Tuttle did not show up for the appointment. When one of the problem trees fell on the house on March 7, 2008, I was desperate and called Eastern Tree, and Jeremiah's father, Mr. John Tuttle, came to check out the fallen tree and the other tree problems. He gave me very reasonable estimates for all the problem trees. On that day Sermat Construction Services was called by Mr. Tuttle to be the general contractor for the entire repair, and since they were pre-approved by my insurance company, I agreed. The tree on the roof was removed the same day. After the entire roof and siding work was completed by Sermat, I tried to get Eastern Tree to come back to complete the tree work. (I was particularly worried about a dead tree in the front of the yard.) I could not get in touch with the father, John, but only reached the son, Jeremiah. There began weeks of unreturned calls, not helped by the fact that I was out of town part of the time caring for my ill mother. I even contacted Sermat during the summer of 2008, asking them to intervene and put me in touch with the father, and when son Jeremiah called me, he was livid, telling me that he was in charge of Eastern Tree now. After he cooled off, he promised me that he would do the rest of the work but never followed through. One time he did tree work for a neighbor and came by to see me but said he had been dizzy while climbing and would prefer to begin my work earlier in the day. When I returned for good to Richmond in September 2008, I began leaving messages on his cell phone on 9/22, 10/17, 10/23, and 11/18/2008. On one of those calls I did reach him, and he said he was working in Texas to help remedy the destruction of Hurricane Ike (September 13, 2008). He hoped to be home for the holidays. In late December I caught him on his cell phone, and he insisted he was still away, except he said "I'm still down there." I tried to remind him of his promise. He said, "Have a good day," and he hung up. On December 31, 2008, the dead tree came down with the help of a strong wind and took out my pole lamp. I had the tree removed by another company.
Description of Work: The completed part of the work for which I had an estimate from Eastern Tree was a "stem" tree that fell on the roof on March 7, 2008. Mr. John Tuttle asked me to work with an insurance-approved contractor (Sermat) that they worked for on a regular basis, and I complied. With Sermat in charge of the entire repair project, Mr. Tuttle used a crane to remove the tree from the roof the same day. He was so happy to earn approximately $1200 through the general contractor (and my home insurance) that he promised to return to do the rest of the work and even take $100 off the price!

Service was excellent from beginning to end. Following a full walk through of the yard, a detailed written cost estimate of the work was fully explained, to include exactly what needed to be done, how it would be done, including removal of debris and cleanup. I was also provided with the company's certificate of insurance, and the names of several references (all of which gave excellent comments regarding their experience with Eastern). The work was scheduled and was slipped by one day; only after a two day notice and our mutual consent due to wet weather. Unlike previous tree work done on our proerty, Eastern exercised extreme care in moving the heavy equipment needed for the work, resulting in zero damage to our yard beyond that actually caused by the falling of the large tree from the storm. Yard and worksite cleanup was immaculate. From start to finish, virtually everyone was totally professional; right through the post job customer inspection of the work site.
Description of Work: Removed one very large, and four smaller trees felled by a severe storm in the back yard of our residence. Removed a large broken limb from another large tree damaged by the storm. Also felled and removed a large dead pine tree from a side yard. Also, as courtesy, Eastern's owner trimmed several dead branches on a Dogwood tree in our front yard that I had inquired about on the day of the work (as a possible add on).

We have used them many times in the past and we had no problems bringing them back out to our home to do some more tree work. We were happy with the ending results and the price was fine considering they had to climb and how much was pruned. They did an awesome job cleaning up all of the debris. My husband could do a lot around the house, but some things needed to be done by professionals, like this company.
Description of Work: We had one large dead Elk tree taken down in the front of our yard. In fact, they had to have the electric come and take care of the power line. That cost me around 2000. There was a lot of work that had to be done there. We had a large Oak tree fall on the front our house after the hurricane hit our home and that was taken down by them as well. That cost was covered under insurance. We also had a large oak tree trimmed in the back of our house. They had to climb up our tree with ropes. Due to the extensive amount of work that needed to be done that cost around 800 - 850.

This is a good company they are definitely very professional in what they do. The workers are very clean, I had no mess at all after they left. The trees that they trimmed look great and now I use this company whenever I need them.
Description of Work: They removed three trees from my yard and also trimmed three other trees.
