**** Be warned **** Do not use this company. On 3/29/17 They were dispatched to service our upstairs unit by American Home Shield (air kept running but not heating the home). They diagnosed a broken coil and the unit needed 11 lbs of Freon ($115/lb and American Home Shield only covers $10/lb). With frustration I agreed and paid them over $1000 out of pocket to fix my heating unit. Fast forward to the end of Sept 2017 and my AC for same unit stopped working. Called in a claim with AHS who sent a separate contractor to diagnose the problem. Guess what? BROKEN COIL and needing 10lbs of FREON. Predictably I reminded AHS that this same unit was serviced for the same problem by Clifton in March and it was ridiculous that I was facing the same problem and out of pocket cost (I will review AHS separately). After some back and forth with AHS they determined that Clifton never submitted paperwork after completion of their work (red flag!!) and they would contact them concerning my unit even mentioning that Clifton is insured and should be liable for this repeat problem. Clifton REFUSED to take responsibility and simply told AHS they would not do anything to assist and basically they didn't care. I am in the process of bringing legal action against them and will update my review upon completion. They DO NOT perform quality work and they DO NOT stand behind their work. In my opinion they are dishonest and potentially crooks. Highly recommend you avoid them at all costs and if they are dispatched through your home warranty demand they are replaced!!! ***Be Warned** after a second call to Clifton they again flatly refused to take responsibility and danced around the fact they NEVER submitted their work order to American Home Shield. They are not an honest business. I called Clifton and was very upset only to receive a response from their office manager that told me that its none of my business what their threshold is to submit a diagnosis to American Home Shield. Pleaded with them to stand by their work and that I have small children that are having to sleep at night with temps in my house at 85 degress waking up every hour because they are hot and thirsty. She did not care. She offered no resolution, told me that I was out of the time frame for them to resolve the issue and that I was just out of luck and out of over $1000. There is no way 11 lbs of Freon leaked over night which tells me that this has been going on within what would have been a time frame for them to come back out. Now they are telling me that there is probably another leak and that's why its all gone????? How predictable. Filing an FTC complaint, filed BBB complaint, letter to States Attorney's office, and a complaint with the Consumer Protection Agency along with legal action. Companies shouldn't treat consumers like this. Do the right thing for people. This could have been easily solved if they along with American Home Shield who dispatched these people would have done the right thing. They could care less.

Terribly. Same issue occurred 5 months later (very likely never fixed to begin with considering 11lbs of Freon leaked from the same broken coil). Be warned that they do not stand by their work and that they refused to even come back and look at the unit)
Description of Work: On 3/29/17 Clifton was dispatched by American Home Shield to diagnose and repair our upstairs unit. They claimed that a coil was leaking and the unit was out of freon(empty). I was charged $1100 out of pocket to charge 11 pounds of Freon (not covered by home warranty). 6 months later the unit isn’t working again so again contacted AHS and they sent a separate dispatcher who diagosed a leaking coil and again out of Freon. After contacting AHS they advised Clifton never submitted a work order for the claim (red flag) and that Clifton was refusing to accountability. We contacted Clifton directly and they flatly told us they didn’t care and they were not going to be responsible. They do not stand by their work and be warned.. they will not accept responsibility for poor service.

No work done- would not use after warranty denied based on their recommendation.
Description of Work: AC Unit stopped working and AHS sent them out. They immediately said it was dirty- which it was not, just normal wear and tear after 25 years. I have read they do this on all warranty coverage. Office person would not answer calls. Would not use or recommend.

John and his partner came to my home to repair my outdoor heating unit last Thursday. They returned with the replacement part and to clean my system on Friday. They were both very professional, friendly and efficient. John took the time to explain some questions I had about my thermostat and even helped to find a noise in my vent area. They cleaned my unit and it is purring like new. Thank you!
Description of Work: Fan replaced on outside unit- inside and outside units cleaned

Attempted to fix Duel Fuel (Heat pump w/ Furnace) system. The issue was the downstairs system wouldn't heat below 45 degrees. Scheduling took about 2 days. A technician came out came to find a "wiring" problem and was able to produce warm air at about 50 degree outside temperature before he left. I asked about how to ensure the system would heat below 45 degrees and he said he was able to adjust the thermostat to test that out - and he confirmed he did that and it worked. During the next 3-5 days the outside temperature remained above 45 degrees about 95% of the time and my indoor temperature was fine. After that period, the weather got colder and remained below 45 degrees almost all the time. At that point it was obvious that I still had a problem as my house was not heating regardless of which mode I selected. I called Clifton back and they scheduled a return visit free of charge 2 days later. The same tech came out for the second visit (on a Friday) and said the problem now was due to a setting on the thermostat that he should have made. That night when the temperature dropped again the system still wasn't heating. I called Clifton and left a message. I called again on Monday and was told the next available time was Wednesday. After reminding them that they were already here twice, couldn't fix the problem and my house was below 60 degrees interior temp, they said they might be able to get me in on Tuesday, but couldn't commit. To make matters worse I have two sick kids and only one more attempt at repairing the system before it impacts our Christmas plans at our house. No flexibility from Clifton! My two main issues with this company are: 1. their inability to fix a specific problem the first or second time; and 2. their inflexibility to schedule a priority repair given I had NO heat and they came out twice already and were unable to fix it. Apparently incompetent techs and very poor customer service - don't waste your time with Clifton like I did!

The dispatcher called and scheduled an appointment, then called when the technician was en route. John, the technician, was very professional, wore plastic boot covers inside the house, didn't mind all my questions, showed me various elements of the heating/cooling system, and completed everything that I needed done. He was diligent in explaining what he was doing and why, noting the source of the problems, and corrected them.
Description of Work: John, the service technician, installed a programmable thermostat which I purchased on Amazon, repaired a short in the other thermostat (which I had attempted to replace), and identified a blown fuse in one of the two heating/cooling systems in the house. He also gave me lots of good advice on changing the filters, keeping the systems clean and functioning, and registering the systems with the manufacturers.
