scaping We paid Shelly to come to our home to provide a plan to improve our landscape. After the initial interview we hired her with the understanding she would have a complete plan. The landscape does not have a finished or professional appearance. I was concerned where she was placing a plant and she just cut down the Holly without providing any shape to the plant. Shelly called later we told her were expecting more shrubs in the landscape and were dissatisfied. Shelly told my husband that she would mail us suggestions on different shrubs which was never sent. We than hired someone else to finish laying down the mulch. We will have to hire another landscaper since the plan is not professional with mostly annuals and no shrubs mixed in to provide a balanced look. We hired Shelly to landscape our property and what we got was mainly ornamental annuals which would look out of place with no shrubs. Shelly did a good job estimating how much top soil and mulch we needed. In conclusion, Shelly might be a good choice for planting flowers but trimming bushes and landscaping is outside of her expertise.

It was worth it. I think they would be well satisfied if they hired her business.

Sherry told me this was the biggest residential mulch application job she has ever done. 15 cu yds spread over multiple beds on 1 acre of up and down terrain. The mulch was dropped in the driveway at 9 AM as planned and Sherry along with one lady helper got right to it. Frankly, I was worried...it's a huge job. But they went at it non stop were doing a great job in application and working around existing plantings. At 2PM, Sherry called in "back-up Angels" to help complete the job and they were done by 4:30. I was amazed. This lady is a dynamo, knows how to treat flower beds (the mulch was NOT applied haphazardly), and knows her business. What I paid was in line with the competition. Two thumbs up. I'll ask her back again next year

I liked everything about them, she was very fast and did an excellent job.

I contacted The Gardening Angel because we needed help with our flower bed in front of the house. I had a very large Hershey's Red azalea bush under my window framing the house nicely. However, last summer one of the edge sections died completely. I successfully replaced it, but this summer 2 more died on the other side and I was only able to find plants that were significantly smaller and would have looked silly against my tall azaleas. Additionally, one of the middle sections of a little over 3 feet wide was diseased and dying off. I was able to find the source some sort of mold fungus was attacking it. However, in order to treat it I would need to use a pesticide. I am however, breastfeeding and possibly pregnant and unable to use pesticides. My husband is gone for work right now and is unable to help with this either. So I contacted Shelley. After explaining my situation, she agreed to help how she could. I also explained that we are going to list the house for sale next week as we are moving and had a budget for what we could have done. She seemed very understanding and caring of our situation and gave me an estimate on her labor for 3 hours which was exactly our budget. Shelly went above and beyond trying to locate our exact Hershey's Red azalea bush to match the existing plant (including going out during a tornado warning). However, even the nurseries that she worked with did not carry them (I already tried Home Depot, Lowe's, and McDonald's). So, she came by my home to see what else we could do. She assessed the azaleas and did offer me some suggestions on how to fix them with what we had. Alternatively, she offered to take them out. She said that she could get them all out in an hour. I had previously thought about just taking them out because they kept dying and didn't know if putting down the pesticide would even fix the large section that was already shedding its leaves. With no way to repair that section if it were to become damaged (no big plants for sale), I agreed to just take them out. I thought it would take her all day to get the azaleas out with a crew, however like she said it took her only an hour or less. She went to work while I ran to McDonald's Garden Center to get the shrubs she recommended to replace my azaleas with. I was able to save money by running to the store myself, which was important to me. When I got there, I didn't like one of the shrubs she suggested so I replaced it with another azalea bush. When I got back home, Shelley had successfully removed all of the azaleas. I also had another shrub that she took apart and spread evenly throughout the garden in a pretty row. She had holes ready for the new azalea shrubs and pansies that I had purchased. She also picked up the apples that had fallen from my tree in front and trimmed the lower branches from that tree so it was easier to mow my lawn (above and beyond!). She was able to quickly plant the new shrubs in an aesthetically pleasing manor by spacing them neatly and with attention to detail. I was very happy with her work and how quickly she did it all in (it would have taken me weeks, time I do not have). I am thankful too for her suggestion to pull out the old azaleas because the bed looks terrific now! We didn't have to use any harmful chemicals either which I am so leery of. I was also thankful for how concerned Shelley was for my situation. She seemed to genuinely care about my concerns as if it were her home she was taking care of. I felt that I got far more than my money's worth and highly recommend her! You would be lucky to get her!

Shelley and I talked about the trimming and how far to go and what to expect. All of the bushes were hugh, really out of control and damaged from the storm (Irene). She trimmed the gardenias back from roof gutter level to below the windows. What a difference it made. She did it in stages to get a feel for how it would look and I like their new shapes. The jasmine bush went from a wild vine almost blocking entry to the back yard to a neatly trimmed bush that is very attractive. The Crepe Myrtles were damaged from the storm with branches torn off and foliage torn up. She trimmed them but we realized it will be a much bigger job (the trees are quite tall) and she will return to do that later in the Fall. The viburnums had been very nicely shaped last time she was here but have grown out over the 4 months. She cleaned them up. They continue to look so much healthier than before she first shaped and trimmed them. It is such a pleasure having Shelley come over. She is fast, professional, thorough and obviously enjoys what she does. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants landscaping or maintenance work done. Her quality and value for price can't be beat.

Having 2 kids and an ongoing self planned and executed home renovation left my yard quite neglected. My wife and I had no time or any concrete ideas on how to add that ever elusive Curb Appeal. The Gardening Angel really was exactly what we needed. She responded timely to our request for service, called prior to arrival and arrived when promised. Once here she trimmed multiple bushes and shrubs which she neatly piled at the street. I was initially skeptical about paying hourly but as others have noted, she works very quickly and efficiently. Leaving a large, neat pile of branches and bags by the street for pickup. She helped us with planning the rest of the work on the yard - the mulching, correct placement of existing plants, selecting new plants and creating a gardening scheme that is manageable for my busy family. I am really satisfied with her work. We have already made plans to have her come back out when it's time to plant new flowers after the summer and may choose to have her come by regularly to maintain the garden. Highly recommended.

She was only 8 miles from me and was charging $15 for traveling, so I was a bit unhappy with her.

I needed someone to work in my flowerbed. I chose The Gardening Angel because of the great rating and reviews. I am so glad I did. The front of my house looks so good. We have received many compliments. One of our neighbors has since hired her and two of our other neighbors have asked for her phone number. I do not like gardening and I am not very knowledgable when it comes to choosing the right plants. She enjoys what she does and it shows. She did all the shopping for the plants, pots, trellises, etc. She brought some helpers and they went to work. She is a very hard worker and they were done in a day. I have asked her to come back in Sept. to extend my existing flowerbed around the side of my house and plant shrubs and also make a flowerbed to conceal a Va Power box that sits near my driveway. Then we talked about her coming back in Oct. to plant fall flowers in the beds, railing baskets and pots. I highly recommend her.

She was responsive from when I first called her through the 5-week timeframe of her three visits. She obviously has a full schedule but was very accomodating in schedling to come out when it worked for me. My first impresson of Shelley when she arrived, promptly, was a person of energy and creativity. That first impression continued with each visit - I don't know how she does it! Our backyard has 27 year old bushes, trees, plants and weeds. Sometimes those mature landscapes are the most challenging. It's much easier to start with a clean slate. I thought we would have to pull it all out; as other landscapers had recommended. I thought the overgrown viburnum bushes that lined the fences would have to go to be able to plant some flowers and have more variety in the beds along the fences. Instead, Shelley recommended shaping them into small trees. What a great idea! We now have mature, flowering native viburnums and the entire area under each canopy is planted with colorful phlox, brown-eyed susans, salvia, day lillies, and mums for 3 seasons of color. Shelley works fast, brings the right tools and sample plants to help with ideas. Because of an injury I was unable to do much gardening but I spent the time with her learning from a real pro. Over the three months since she did the Spring overhaul and planting our backyard has become a highlight of our home anr we have received so many compliments from guests and neighbors. She is one of the nicest people I've met and I look forward to having her back here to take on the front yard. My experience with Shelley is one of working with a professional who is responsive, prompt, thorough, creative, efficient and very, very friendly. She has my highest recommendation.

Shelley does an excellent job. She obviously loves what she does and is full of good ideas! I have had the worst luck with gardeners, until I stumbled upon her on Angie's List. She is very punctual, and is very accessible by phone. I have had so many compliments about my yard, and I am very pleased! One of the best things about Shelley is that she is very self directed. I don't have to watch over her work, to make sure things are getting done. Also, she works very quickly! I will absolutely continue to keep her around, as long as she will keep me as a client!

They were very punctual and extremely hard working. I got a lot for my money. They just immediately went about their business. I paid by the hour and there was no waste of time and they didn't take breaks. I got my hours worth of work. I would definitely use them again and I felt that she had a lot of knowledge about gardens, plants etc.

.I like her gardening philosophy. She is well versed in it and water works and does work in this neighbourhood. I will continue to use her in the future.

I was looking for someone to help me sort out my garden area, which included two beds in my back patio area, about 30 pots, 3 overgrown jasmine vines, 3 window boxes, beds along the back, side and front of the house, pots on the front porch and the area surrounding two river birch trees in the front yard as well as the entry walkway. I am a rookie in the world of gardening and hoped to find an "angel" to help me figure out what would grow beautifully without fear of my inexperience ruining all of the hard work. Finding Shelley (on Angie's List) was just the miracle I was looking for. She first came to review all of the areas and determine the extent of the work, the time line and to help me navigate the seemingly endless options for plant and flower selection. She then came to my house every Monday morning, from April 11 - May 2, and once again on May 14th to do a final sweep before a party I was hosting. Each time Shelley came she brought bags of mulch, soil and plant suggestions. She weeded all of my beds thoroughly and cleaned out all of the dried out, sad looking pots. With her plant suggestions and my new purchases she planted a beautiful garden in my beds, filled all of my pots and window boxes gloriously, surrounded my river birches with lush, leafy hosta, adorned my mailbox with mandavilla and vinca and mulched all of the beds around the entire house. In the front of the house, around the trees, this included a significant amount of building up of the bed area to protect the tree roots and provide enough depth for the new hosta. I am now so proud of the beautiful blooms that have been bursting forth in profusion since Shelley first arrived. All of her suggestions, taking into consideration the sun exposure at various times of day, as well as the existing growth that would be competing for water, were spot on. Every once in a great while there was a plant that she had brought that didn't make it and Shelley always removed and replaced that plant with a hardier one. Each time she visits she has wonderful suggestions that we can continue to work on thru the Fall, in preparation for next Spring. She has truly made the exterior of this house my favorite room by far. I can't recommend her strongly enough! Happy gardening to all. I think I'm even starting to detect the tiniest bit of green on my own thumb, thanks to Shelley's tutelage.

She is very knowledgeable and she loves what she is doing. The price was good. I would use her services again in the next week as she couldn’t complete some work that she said she would do. She doesn’t respond to the messages and that is what I don’t like about her. She does a good job but it’s difficult to get in touch with her and it’s little hard to communicate.

The Gardening Angel is knowledgeable, quick, hardworking and courteous. She had all of my flower beds looking great quicker than I thought possible. I wanted everything done before my husband came back from deployment and the Gardening Angel did not disappoint me. Shelley loves what she does and it shows. She's fast, really fast, and has lots of energy!

Shelley purchased 16 pansies and 8 bags of mulch and delivered them to my home. She trimmed my rose bushes and nandinas, planted the pansies and spread the mulch in three of my flower beds. She works fast and it took about two hours from the time she arrived until she finished. That includes additional time it took for her to go buy two more bags of mulch. I am extremely happy with the results and she was very pleasant and easy to work with. She also installed a wire fence around my large flowerbed that I had purchased to deter a large dog from stepping on the plants.

Shelly really is the Gardening Angel...she is terrific. She is super fast, knowledgeable, easy to work with. I intend to call her again and again. Thanks Shelly.

She is quick when she comes. She usually comes for about two hours. I have asked her to bring mulch. She gets the kind that I like. She is fast. She knows the difference between a weed and a flower. That really is a big thing. Her price is reasonable. She works with me. She wants to know what I want. She is easy to work with. I highly recommend her. She has no problem in digging weeds up by hand with a shovel. Others in the past have used pesticides. I live in the marsh and request that they don't do that. She just has that touch.

They are one of the hardest workers we have seen. It is a great value for the price. It is just amazing hard-work and dedication.

Shelley is amazing! Fast, fair, and an overall lovely woman. She cleared a garden plot for us that would have taken me days in a matter of hours. Her price was extremely fair, if not a little low. I would definitely use her again and recommend her highly.
