It was fantastic, It was great because its save me money they did not replace the door but fix some of the spring on my garage door

I called J&S because my cables came off my garage door. The technician arrived and basically wanted to sell me all brand new parts even though none of the parts that were on my door were broken..old but not broken ... He quoted me $500 to fix all the parts. He Was trying to push the purchase of a new door and basically said it was too risky to use the current hardware . Ordering a new door would take roughly 6 weeks to get so he was willing to get the door up and working for $150. However he was not willing to do that for 150 unless I signed a contract for a new door. It all seemed very shady so at the end of the day I paid him his service fee.since he wasn’t going to not collect some money from me...I called somebody else and 20 minutes later that company fixed my garage door with the original parts I had and it cost me $95.. Always good to check multiple companies before choosing one..

Adam the tech was prompt , professional, and knowledgeable about the work he was going to perform and other services offered by this company. He was customer friendly planning to use your service again soon.

The contractor arrived on time, was professional, and knowledgable. I had called another company who said that the door needed to be replaced. J&S said that they could fix it. After about 30 minutes of adjusting, lubricating and tightening things up, the door sounded and performed much better.

Although J&S was price comparable, we decided to go with another company. Estimator was within specified time window and called when he was on the way (Bonus points-very important to us).

My garage door would only open a few feet then close again and I could see the wires were broken. Kevin came out promptly and told me what was wrong and was able to adjust the system so I could use it again(even with the wires broken) then gave me an estimate until I decided if I wanted to get it definitively fixed. I called them to come back to do the permanent fix. I asked for Kevin again since he was very professional, knowledgeable and polite. He again promptly came back and did the repair and the door works perfectly now. He even deducted the amount of the first service call from the bill to definitely fix my door((Torsion tube,Spring,cables rollers, etc) . I would 100% recommend J and S for any garage door problems and ask for Kevin!

Feel like I got the 'Girl' treatment from technician. First he pointed out all the old features of my garage door and system. First wanted to replace door, tension rod and opener (well over $1200 for apparatus, door not included). Explained I was planning to move within a year, and current door matched the condo requirements and was in good shape. Then technician offered me about $1000 for opener and tension rod, keeping old door and tracks. However, as he thought tension rod was ok, I asked about opener only. Opener only, with one remote, installed was $400-500. (Did not include exterior keypad). Could be completed this morning. While technician was drawing up paperwork, went online and discovered quality garage door openers for <$200. Declined technician offer and paid $55 service call fee. Later went online to Sears and purchased 3/4 HP Craftsman to replace 2001 1/2 HP Craftsman (¾ HP Chain Drive Garage Door Opener with two Multi-Function Remotes, Keypad, and Motion Detecting Wall Control) for $185, with added $140 installation fee (although reviews described installation as easy, I wasn't interested in playing that game). Did I get value for visit? Time (and motor replacement) will tell if assessment that the opener motor had just lost the 'zing' to open the door was correct diagnosis for $55. However, felt like heavy sell tactics to a single female rather than straightforward effort to provide service. Satisfied with punctuality, dissatisfied with perceived sales tactics. === Update: Called J&S back today after Sears Installation visit. With brief evaluation of door, handyman determined that tension rod/spring was broken (door very heavy to open =nonfunction of springs, FYI). Replaced spring system ($319 installed), opened old garage door opener housing and inspected plastic gears-- old door opener of 2001 in good shape, he determined no urgent need to replace. Will return new opener and get refund on installation of it. Garage door works perfectly now. Thus the $55 call by J&S proved to be a pure sales call, and have no diagnostic value. I made a courtesy call to J&S regarding outcome of second visit. No spontaneous effort to refund service call. If you are female head of household, avoid this vendor's sales tactics.

We called that morning (about 9) and I indicated our door would not rise more than about 6 inches and that I assumed it was catching in something. The indicated there would be some one there between 11 and 1. He called at noon, indicated he was about 30 minutes out and arrived at 12:30. It took him about 2 minutes to find the problem - broken spring. He described his recommended solution (replace spring and some other potentially weak points) based on the age of the opener. He quoted the price and indicated it would take about 1.5 hours and was right on the money with his time estimate. We also got a discount for being an Angie's list member. Hopefully we will never see him again but if the need arises, we will use them again.

First, I had a great call on a Saturday afternoon with a gentlemen that helped me understand what my options were and relative pricing. They set me up with an appointment the next business day, which was perfect! My technician, John, was excellent! He showed up between the 12-2 window I requested, was very knowledgeable, informative and patient with my questions. He told me the installation would take about 2 hours. While he was doing it, I barely knew he was there - quietly and independently getting everything installed. Before we finished, John did a great job of explaining everything to me. The only thing I wish he could have helped with was programming my car "Homelink" to work with the new opener (I don't think he was allowed to help me with that for some reason). Thanks for my new garage door opener, which I love, and for great customer service!

After our bottom bracket broke on our garage door, my husband and son managed to get it closed. But it was left leaning and hanging on by 3 wheels. We immediately searched Angie’s list and made an appointment with J & S Overhead. They were responsive, providing a next day appointment. The gentleman arrived on time and was very professional, I appreciate his concern with safety. He gave us a quote for a door rebuild and replacement. There was about a $150 difference between the two options. Then our neighbor recommended another company that offered free estimates. So we decided to get a second opinion. We were able to get the door fixed for a third of the price.

J& S contacted me right away to set up an appointment. They were very nice and had great availability. The installer was on time and friendly. He began to install my door and about an hour and a half in, found termite damage and wasn't able to secure the upper track to the wall. Both the owner and the installer provided me with recommendations on contractors to repair the damage and they closed the garage with the old door. Once the termite damage was repaired, I called them and they worked with the contractor's timeline and came back to complete the job for a small 2nd trip fee. Before he began, the installer looked at the repairs and he advised he could not install the weather seal on the front of the door because the 1" flashing that was there would leave a gap. I wasn't sure how that would make a difference and asked if he would try. He advised he already knew it would leave a gap and look bad. I then told him it was there before and they had to re-install the flashing when they replaced the studs and had I known that they couldn't work with it, I would have had them leave it off. I asked if there wouldn't be a gap between the door and the jamb where water & air could get thru. He advised it would still close tight and I could always have the contractors come back out and remove the flashing to add the weather stripping if I wanted to and he would leave it for me. Since he said it would close tight, I was accepted that. It was raining once he was done, so I took a quick peek and it looked good but now that I've had time to look at it, there is a gap between the wall and the door big enough to see the daylight peeking in from outside, so the weather strip is necessary for a good seal. I appreciate the kindness and flexibility of everyone in the company. They were easy to work with. The door is a quality door and it looks very nice. The work done is solid and they left no mess behind. The installer even tied a rope on the handle so I could reach it when the door was open. I am only disappointed that I didn't get the entire "deal" which included perimeter weather seal and I now have to pay someone else to do it.

They were not available to complete the work when I needed it done.

Working with the company was good and the installation was good. It took longer than I thought it was going to, but I had never had garage doors put and didn't know how long to expect since they had to do all the tracks and everything. There was only one person sent out and he was good, he was friendly and he worked hard. They called me back right away. They were a little late.

My experience with them was good. But they didn’t clearly spell out the details as to what was covered and what was not covered. Once we called them to work, they added additional cost which was not part of the Angie's List coupon. I was not so happy with that. They did a good job with the work. It was not a complicated assignment.

When I called the contractor to setup the appointment, I learned that my particular type of garage door spring was not supported by this company. Therefore the coupon/voucher is of no use to me. The company was polite and understanding, and honest about their capabilities, so for that I was grateful.

No complaints. Prompt response to service request. Fast, professional service.

I spoke to the company and he informed me that the work I need done on my garage door is not included with this Big Deal.

Last Friday my garage door opener stopped working, I called today J & S because it has excellent references in Angie,s List. I got an appointment the same day with a 1 to 3 pm window and previous phone call. Joe and his assistant were right on time, both are very polite and professional, they did an excellent job. My door was repaired, they gave me a 10 % courtesy discount for being a member of Angie,s List. We are completely satisfied with the work and warranty. We will recommend J & S without reservation.

It was around 2PM and I had just returned home from running errands. Immediately after closing the garage door, I heard a huge bang that sounded like a spring had busted. I tried to re-open the garage door and it wouldn't open. Using Angie's List, I found J&S Overhead Garage Door Service and seen all of the great reviews, and called them immediately for service. The gentleman on the phone told me that it was likely the torsion system and gave me different estimates based on the type of torsion system I would like to get and would fit my price range. The service technician, Joe T, contacted me less than an hour later and said he was on his way. He should up less than 10 minutes later and went right to work. He was very professional and did an incredible job. I had been needing to replace the bottom rubber of the door for some time, so I asked him if he could replace that for me as well. He told me that it would be no problem and as soon as he finished the torsion system replacement he went to work replacing the bottom rubber. He finished everything in about 3 hours, and the work was awesome. Our garage door was back to full operation. These guys were a real lifesaver. I highly recommend this organization for any garage door work you may need - installation or repair - they will do the job right and you will definitely be satisfied. My garage door partially feel off the railing and as a wife whose husband was out of town, I was frantic! It was late in the afternoon so I wasn't sure who I would be able to get to do the repair. J & S were able to arrive a little over an hour after I called. They were extremely professional. He took me around and showed me all the components that needed repair and why. He also gave me repair options and wrote up the prices on everything before he started the work. After the work was complete he showed me everything that was replaced. I was extremely impressed not only by their work, but level of professionalism. My garage door works better than it ever has, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company!

Springs replaced, but garage door does not always lower on first attempt. I don't believe this should be happening after the maintenance and inspection were completed.

We called J&S late Friday afternoon (5:30 pm) May 23rd. Talked to Joe. Scheduled appointment for next day (Saturday between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Joe and Gene showed up at 3:30 pm. Joe said he could do the repair and it would cost about $500... We agreed and they started.... The job took about an 90 minutes total time... These guys new what they were doing. The garage door is in better shape and works better than it did when originally installed about 12 years age. Total cost $448.... GREAT JOB.... WELL DONE!!!
