I had been a customer for over 10 years prior to this crawl space job. I had good experiences aside from a few missed appointments. I had a detailed contract with all services to be provided by energy efficient solutions (EES). I quickly found out that sub contractors were sent out and starting with the electrical work things went downhill. The contractor showed up and had no idea what was to be installed and left the job without sealing large holes in my drywall used to run wires.the next contractor sprayed for mold when I was not home...left no paperwork...list of chemicals used ...amounts used or hazards to home. Foul smell lingered for days. I called energy efficient to clarify but they said had to call the company...which I had no idea who that was or how to contact them because I hired energy efficient. So to make a long story short my space leaks water...mold chemical didn't work and runoff covers my space. The owner of energy efficient was quick to call when things needed paid but when the job failed he went awol and only allowed email responses from an office manager I had never spoke with previous or had ever seen the job. I will give free tours of my crawl space to save someone a dangerous and costly mistake. They seem to be good at ac units but may have no clue on how to fix crawl spaces and don't perform advertised services themselves. If a sub contractor is to be used then make sure they are listed on the contract. Feel free to come see my new mold space :(.
Description of Work: Cleaning and sealing of crawl space to include total encapsulation. Installation of lights and new door.installation of dehumidifier. Mold spraying.New hard dryer vent.

Response from House Call Co
EES has been in continuous contact with this homeowner from the beginning. We have sent several professionals out to the property to address his needs. The Owner, General Manager and Quality Control Manager all have attempted satisfy this client. Our Sales team worked very hard to scale down this project to fall within the homeowner’s budget, and EES is completely satisfied with the outcome considering the limited resources available. We have worked with the client and the BBB to resolve any issues and the BBB has concurred with our current position. We are saddened to hear that one of our long stand client relationships was left unresolved, but EES has fulfilled its contractual requirements. We also are more than comfortable for anyone to tour this client’s project, and to answer any questions that may arise from this visit. As you can see from our Angie’s List Rating, our A+ BBB rating, and all of our past customer referrals, EES is extremely client focus and customer satisfaction is very important to us.

They professionally did everything asked of them for a price reasonable for the work performed and did so promptly leaving no mess when they finished. DO feel confident when engaging them for their services.
Description of Work: Everything from periodic maintenance of our HVAC system to encapsulating our crawl space and moving the furnace from our garage to the crawl space. I did not specifically indicate how much we have spent as it varied over the years from a few hundred dollars a year to well over $ 10,000.00 during the major work regarding the crawl space and the purchase of a new house air conditioning unit.

Their services have been exceptional and I would definitely use their help in the future.
Description of Work: I used Thomasson Enterprises for installation, replacement, maintenance, and repair services on all major heating and cooling system. I just recently have my gas line plumbed because I just swapped my electric stove for a new gas stove. I just had my furnace replaced and they upgraded my ventilation duct system. For the re-ducting of ventilation system that cost $2000 and the plumbing of the new gas line was $1100 because they have put in a brand new line and my home warranty company covered the furnace installation because that was with my home warranty, but generally from what I understand that probably would have cost an estimate between $6000-8000.

Through our home warranty company we were forced to use Thomasson to complete the necessary work. The warranty company decided to replace the furnace and Thomasson did the work, for a job that was covered by warranty we were charged an additional $835 to actually make the work happen. On what should have been the only day of the installation, the workers blatantly hid that they had not completed the job and left at 6pm as if everything was done. They had wired the system so that it was always on, the only way to turn the blower off was to cut the power to the unit, the controls meant nothing because nothing was wired properly. No holes were sealed and they had covered a major gap in the furnace itself with tape, you could see right through the floor and the ceiling to the crawlspace and attic. When I called to have the problem fixed they sent someone to adjust the wiring so that the thermostat had some control over the system. When he left he had not checked his own work, as the air conditioning now also put out heat. I called again to have the work corrected, unfortunately it was Friday at 5:10 at this point, so I left a message. The next Tuesday I had to call again because they did not return my call. They sent someone out again and made SOME of the things right, but I was done with the company at this point. When I started taking bids to have the AC replaced, the first question of each company asked was who had done the work on the furnace and had it been inspected (one even corrected more wiring mistakes while he was here at no charge). I realized no one had ever come to inspect it and called the city to find out why, it was because even though I had been charged for a permit to work on my gas lines, they never actually filed a permit, so I now had poorly done illegal work in my home. When I called the warranty company to complain they were understanding, but Thomasson denied everything until I supplied evidence and receipts that I had been charged for permits, and work that required permits. After almost a three month battle the work was inspected, and it only passed because I showed the inspector an accepted bid with another company that included a plan to fix the Thomasson work as they did new work. They lied about how much we paid even though we had receipts. They lied about what work they did after the permit became an issue saying they didn't need a permit after all - forgetting that they had charged me for the specific work they said they had to do and the corresponding permits. I expect that the company will post a response to this review that says something different, DO NOT BELIEVE IT, I have receipts, credit card statements, and an extensive record of a formal complaint and investigation with the warranty company to prove this account, they were caught and they filed a permit almost three months after the work was "completed".

I called when the A/C unit wasn't working, and we set a date for service. The repairman showed up 20 to 30 minutes late but that was okay for me. He quickly diagnosed the problem and provided me a reasonable bill. He excluded payment for the fuses (2) even though they were $20 apiece. He was very cordial and friendly and did a great job of fixing my A/C.

They also do plumbing now. They did a very nice job. The owner of the business came to our house to check up on it and asked if we had any questions. They did the job in one day and cleaned up. One of the guys came back a week later and said that he was pretty happy with the installation, but that he didn’t like the way they covered the cables up in the garage. He covered it with something so that it looked nicer. I didn’t ask him for it, but he just thought about it and came back and did it for me. They were like family.

The company's front office scheduled a visit for the day I called, and the rep, Jim, showed up early. He was very thorough, measured everything and provided useful insights about our 1950s home. We have met three times and proposals have been provided, actually separating the project into pieces to make it more palatable. We are undecided about proceeding, partly because of the cost, which was quite substantial for a 2100 square foot home. Jim did emphasize it was top of the line equipment. In fairness, we are not sure whether we will be staying here, a significant factor in our decision making. I do have confidence that they would do a good job, with Jim's oversight of the work. He arrives on-time, if not early, and conducts a thorough inspection of the home.
Description of Work: The company examined the house, made load calculations, and proposed options for a new HVAC system. They also identified and accompanied a contractor to help us solve a water drainage issue.

They were a little bit more expensive than the other two companies that I had contacted. They did everything that we had asked of them. They had given us suggestions on designs and were kind of rigid in what they provided. They were professional and good folks. They were really specialized in geothermal design. They had a very good reputation and had lots of good local people who would work with them. They were very good, but weren?t willing to come down on the price. The most thorough inspection of the house was conducted by them. We didn?t go with them only because of the price.

It went well. The trigger was the failure of the HVAC blower fan. I decided to replace the whole system with a more efficient one, from Trane. I wanted to use a local (York County if possible) company also. I found Energy Efficient Solutions on Angie's List, on the Web and in the phone book. EES was the first of just three companies to respond to my request for a quote. An estimator came to my house and made an appointment with the company owner to discuss options. I was favorably impressed by his willingness to go into detail. I was presented with several levels of system from basic to high-end, including non-Trane systems. The installers worked carefully, laying down carpet protection through the house to the attic, and cleaning up completely when done, and touching up trivial damage to the trapdoor. The installation took three days, due to the complication of new duct work. At all times, the installers and the company kept me informed as to the progress of the work and responded quickly and courteously to my concerns. Other company personnel inspected the work. The air-conditioning has worked well and the house is comfortable up and down. Temperature measurements at the registers are all in the range 55-60 degrees, most near 55. The furnace works efficiently and unobtrusively (no hot blasts), although I have not given it an extended test (it is still warm outside).
Description of Work: Replaced central HVAC system and improved ducting in house. This involved removing the existing furnace and air-conditioner air handler from the attic (through a trapdoor) and the compressor from the yard. Installing the new furnace/airhandler in the attic and a new compressor on the outside. New piping was installed from the airhandler to the compressor (it is a split A/C system). The new furnace is a two-stage gas furnace, which should be a bit more economical. A new condensate drain was also installed, as was a double-walled flue to meet current code. The ducting from the HVAC system was improved to get a better airflow (less strain on the fan and a more even flow to the housing) and the return duct was also improved. Manually adjustable dampers were installed to balance upstairs and downstairs zones. Electrical and gas service was disconnected and reconnected.

Outstanding! From the time I called - the admin staff was very polite. They sounded like they were happy to help and not like I was bothering them that I called. That's one thing I have a hard time accepting - poor customer service. If I'm spending money at your business - I expect a polite person at the other end. An appointment was made very quickly. Elliott came to my home - was very professional and polite. He soon identified the problem - explained what he was going to do and fixed the problem. He discussed some things I could do to ensure I'm giving the proper care to my A/C as well as explained some repair services available - with no pressue. I would highly recommend this company. I came to Angies list because I've had some very poor experiances with businesses in this area. I'm so thankful that this site is available!! Thank you Angie and thank you to Energy Efficient Solutions!!!

This purchase went swimmingly from start to finish: Owner Chuck Worley met with my wife and I for a couple of hours to discuss the options available to us, after first scoping out our existing system. He listened carefully to our concerns and, with those in mind, offered us good, better, and best options. We chose a custom system that fell between better and best. EEHC's personnel then did the install in one day, from removal through finished installation and testing. At the end of the work day it began to rain VERY hard, yet the workers continued to do the outside work necessary to get us up and running by nightfall. They could have "quit for the delay," but did not, understanding our need to have heat that night. After install, Chuck came back to the house for a "happy check" and, needless to say, we were VERY happy. It has now been six months since installation. We are still extremely satisfied. I should also note that the manufacturer was supposed to give us a rebate of a certain amount, but shorted us $200. Because EEHC had quoted THAT rebate, THEY made up the difference. If you want a great system, installed RIGHT, by a company with integrity, choose ENERGY EFFICIENT HEATING & COOLING!
Description of Work: Replacement of elderly (25 yr + old) heat pump plus gas furnace (18 years old) with new, highly efficient heat pump and 90% efficiency gas furnace. Installation of a whole house HEPA filtration system. Replaced existing dryer vent duct with a PROPERLY installed system.

80 yr old house with no central air, 7 summers, I had hit my tolerance level and needed A/C. I called several contractors, got 4 quotes, Energy Efficient was in the right price range near the middle. What sealed the deal was Chuck Worley's professionalism, time dedicated to educating us about what was involved with such a large install project and had a portfolio of before and after shots of other contractors work that they are in the business of fixing!! They really do things the right way the first time at EE. His staff was courteous, cleaned up after themselves each day, installed air vents through tricky places in this 80 yr old house, worked in exceedingly cramped spaces in the attic and crawl space for space efficiency, were precise in all they did, and were a pleasure to work with. I've continued to work with them on annual service/maintenance checks to keep things working "energy efficient"! Highly recommend them!

It was a great experience. First class work and have not had any problems since. I called to ask them about why my A/C was not cooling and they sent a technician out right away. It was the next day. He diagnosed the problem and proposed the correction. They showed up on time and the technician was very friendly. You could tell that he wanted to help me save money and did not just try to get your money. They are a little on the high side but they back up their work and will make it right. I trust them implicitly.
