 + -1 moreI needed a contractor to do a variety of repair jobs found on a home inspection to sell my house. The whole experience with Gambol Home improvements was very good. He provided a fair quote for that work that needed to be done. He was punctual in arriving on the day we agreed to and his crew got all of the work done in the time he estimated. The quality of the repair work was very good also. I strongly recommend Gambol Home Improvements!
Description of Work: Repaired moisture damage on brick molding and rake boards. Pressure washed exterior. Repaired vinyl J-channel and gutter.

 + -1 moreMr. Gamble introduced us to Billy hardison and Mr. Gamlbes partner. They joked around that they were equal partners, but Mr. Gamble made it very clear that he was the senior partner. The contract that we signed, it stated that in his license it didn't cover the type of work that needed to be done. I feel like he tricked my husband in to becoming the general contractor on the job. He stated that all checks had to be made out to Mr. Hardison and not Gamble Home Improvement. I feel like he prays on elderly people. They left a lip on the outside of the deck the is a huge tripping hazard. There are places where you can see rust stains where they had left packs of nails on the white vinyl. They damaged the plaster on the interior of my house in the ceiling from banging on the walls so hard. The shingles on the roof they installed were done poorly and very misaligned. The roof is so bad it is leaking. This has been going on for 9 months now. They come for a couple days to do work and then are no where to be found. I have tried to call him several times and the only response I will get is through text message. I have had to hire a reliable contractor to now finish the job.
Description of Work: He was supposed to put an addition on the rear of the house that included a deck and screened in porch.

 + -1 moreI feel that he has wasted so much of my time. After he declined the job he was telling me I should just find someone to do it as a side job on the weekend.
Description of Work: He came in and gave me an estimate to replace my roof (1920 sq. ft.). I was satisfied with the estimate and let him know that I would use his services. He told me that he needed to go through the city before he could create the contract with me and there should not be any problems. We were suppose to go through the contract on the 11/16/2011. Due to difficulties we ended up having to push back our meeting to today 11/29/2011. I found out today that he did not have all the particulars to do the work in my city and declined to do the project for me.

 + 2 moreHe always gives you an estimate and is very good about saying if something needs done right away or if you can wait. He is very thorough when looking at everything, and he makes sure that he has a very accurate picture of what the problem could be. I really trust his judgment. His prices are very reasonable. It is very easy to arrange schedules with him. He gives you at least a 1-year warranty on his services. He is very good about coming back to fix things that he has worked on.
Description of Work: Bobby has been helping us for about 4 or 5 years by repairing minor things around our home. He has replaced a ventilation fan in attic, a gate on our fenced-in yard, and a ramp that goes into our backyard shed. He has also looked at things that I have had concerns about such as a cracked foundation, and a leaking roof.

He even took pictures up on the roof to show me the problems before the repair, and how it looked after the repair. I am very pleased with this company and will calling them again for more work in the future.

 + -1 moreI was completely at ease with Bobby and his crew and had absolute confidence that the work would be done professionally, on time, and with attention to details that are so important in this type of job. (See description of work) PLEASE USE THIS COMPANY. You will not be disappointed and will get far more than your money's worth. Bobby Gamble does business ethically and fairly -- something that is hard to find these days. He has been in business for many years and enjoys an outstanding reputation. (Don't tarry if you need a roof as his schedule fills quickly!) He explains the work to be done clearly and in a manner that folks can understand without being condescending. He is open and above-board with his pricing and estimate. You know exactly what will be done and how much each component costs. He encourages questions and is never impatient in answering or coming back to bring samples or to just discuss the job. I look forward to having Bobby do ALL the home improvement work needed on my home in the next year. There will be no need to waste my time and put myself at risk, getting estimates from others.
Description of Work: Bobby Gamble is the ONLY person that I would ever recommend for roofing work. Based on his quality performance and fair pricing, any other home improvement needs that I have will be done by him! My 30 year old roof was leaking and should have been replaced before 2010, however cost was a factor as I do not use credit. (My home is a long contemporary ranch with a large sunroom at the back.) His price was EXCELLENT and FAIR and $2,000 less than one estimate for the same work and material and (yes) $20,000 less than the looney-tune from a national company that apparently thinks people are stupid and want to get ripped off. (See my other reports on estimates.) Bobby removed the old roof, replaced boards as needed (took me to the attic to show that most of my boards were OK and checked for moisture/mold), and installed the new architectural shingles/flashing/and vents. He actually painted the new vent covers to match the roof so they would not be so obvious, even though they are only seen from the rear of the home. I was delighted as my home is on a point with lakes across, along side, and behind - and neighbors across the way. Additionally, he discouraged me from installing solid type gutter guards due to roof pitch and history of run-off along the base of my home, creating moisture. (Home is "built up on hill" with cinderblock walls beneath ground and a 5 ft. walk around crawl space underneath for geothermal HVAC and water heater.) He explained that as long as the rain is soft or "normal", there is little run off over the gutter guards down to the ground. However, heavy rain causes water to cascade over the gutter guards and creates the very problem I was trying to correct. My gutters were very precarious in some places with heavy overflow whenever it rained "normally" due to roof pitch. Also, Bobby advised me not to purchase new gutters as I thought were needed (were ok, just need a little paint)! He installed the newest type of fasteners that "will hold those gutters up for years!" When it snowed Dec/Jan, had those fasteners not been there, every gutter on my home would have been on the ground!! He caulked each joining seam of my "senior citizen gutters" to avoid any drips, especially over my sunroom/deck door which when freezing, makes an amazing "ice skating rink" that could result in a flying leap over the side, 12' down! He worked with the installers (his son and other guys who have been with him for years) on the roof every day! They were on time, careful, polite, and a pleasure to have working at my home. They cleaned up extremely well and checked all around my home and yard for nails. PLEASE use this company. You will not be disappointed and will get far more than your money's worth. Bobby Gamble does business ethically and fairly -- something that is hard to find these days.

 + -1 moreThey first give us an estimate. We got three estimates and theirs was in the middle. After finishing the work they cleaned up meticulously at the end of each day. The work stretched out a little bit longer than what we expected because the weather was bad. They were polite, courteous, and did a good job. Everything turned out fine. The roof is still in good condition. They are a good roofing company. They were recommended to us by our neighbor. Two neighbors in our block had used them and spoke highly of the company. They do work all over Virginia Beach. I see their truck from time to time. People are still using them. The owner and the workers are very friendly.
Description of Work: We used Gamble Home Improvement for roof repair after a hurricane damaged our roof.
