Description of Work: I called Serenescapes because of its high ratings on Angie's List. Eric was very prompt in scheduling an estimate appointment. Our problem is a rather steep bank along the road that is subject to severe erosion; so severe that silt from it blocked our neighbor's culvert. We've had several other estimates which have ranged from 'there nothing we can do' to 'pile up rocks' to the tune of $8K plus. Eric took a look and immediately started drawing on a clipboard and showed us how he could use a combination of plants, mulch and landscape fabric to control the erosion and direct drainage. He was by far the most knowledgeable person we'd had out to look at the situation. He even gave us suggestions on other minor situations that we could do ourselves. We agreed on a price and settled down to wait. Eric told us he was very busy so it was a couple of weeks before they arrived to do the work. Once here, they did a fine job including watering the plants afterwards. Within days, the skies opened and there was almost constant, at times heavy, rain. This caused some minor erosion which Eric said he'd fix. That was a week ago and I haven't seen him yet. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as the weather has been tough and no doubt has caused a back-up in his work. Hopefully this is a minor glitch, which will be fixed shortly. Eric is impressive and a gentleman. I will use him again. He's head and shoulders above all the other landscapers who've been here over the years.

+ -1 moreIt went very well. They arrived a few minutes early, got started right away, worked diligently for about 5 hours to complete the work. I was then given a tour of the sites. Eric was very pleasant to deal with. I don't know if the price was in line with what others would have charged; he was the first to respond, to visit and offer his services. I went with it, thinking it sounded reasonable, and liking his approach and enthusiasm. I was also impressed with his other reviews here.
Description of Work: Cleared a large brush pile from my backyard, including preparing the site for planting in the spring. Took down a large chaste tree, including the roots, prepared that site as well.

+ 5 moreThey provided information on what type of trees I could use as a buffer between my neighbors house and mine, provided an estimate within 8 hours, ordered trees and planted them all within about a week. They also suggested flowering shrubs for the front of my home, purchased and planted those upon my approval . Also order two shrubs for beside the porch, which will be planted next week. General cleaning, pruning and weeding of my flower beds. I felt involved throughout the process. I have retained them on a regular basis to trim/prune as needed annually. Eric was very prompt, helpful and knowledgeable about what types of plantings/shrubs to use based on soil, sun exposure, etc. . He stayed in touch with me to let me know when trees/shrubs would be in and when they would be planted. Answered all of my questions and even went so far as to pick up topsoil and a large pot so I can winter a tropical plant inside. The have gone way over what was required.
Description of Work: Planted 4 trees and 5 shubs; weeded/trimmed/pruned all flower beds

+ 2 moreWe called 3 different landscaping services to ask for estimates for numerous yard and landscaping tasks. Serenescapes promptly returned our call and came out a day later. We are planning to move to another city in a few months and wanted to spruce up our home, but wanted to keeps the costs down. Eric, the owner, told us of things that prospective buyers would prefer to see, and also dissuaded us from spending money on things that would not be beneficial for selling. Serenescapes began the work a week later and finished most of the work in 2 days . We are very pleased with the job!
Description of Work: pruned ornamental trees and shrubs, cut low branches from large trees, removed dead shrubs and planted many new ones and mulched, laid small areas of sod, buried drain pipes and installed new outlets for drains

+ 1 moreEric was great. He was very flexible in coming out and taking a look at our back yard and working around our schedule. He was clearly really knowledgable and knows how to put together a high quality plan. We ended up getting stuck because the scope of the work we wanted done was out of our budget. Eric worked with us a lot (even followed up after he had given us his best and lowest offer with an even lower option) but we ended up not being able to put together the money for the job. Eric was extremely professional and has done awesome work on our neighbors yards. Any further work that we plan on doing with our yard, we will definitely be contacting Eric and Serenescapes.

His plans were beautiful and had we had the $ at the time we would have most definitely used his services. In the future when we are really to move forward with this project we will definitely be using Serenescapes.

+ 0 moreEric and his crew were very professional and did a fantastic job. This job was in fulfillment of an earlier estimate he provided and I commented on previously. There were no unexpected charges or hidden fees. He was on time and finished on schedule. He did exactly what he promised and it turned out beautifully. We had unsuable space between our house and the old retaining wall, a 10x12 concrete pad "patio" and our back yard was unlevel, covered in scrub brush and had a couple of diseased trees in the middle. Our backyard was truly transformed into a space that we regularly use to entertain and hang out. I will try to post some before and after photos. We definitely will use Eric again and in fact we have. He recently came and cut back some trees that were heavily damaged in the snow storms earlier this year. We had been putting it off hoping it would not be necessary, but alas, it was. We hope they will come back in the spring and if not, we know who to call to take them out! Thanks Eric for all your hard work and professionalism. .

Description of Work: We are in the process of a backyard "makeover" and Eric, Serenescapes, responded within 24 hours to view the property, provide suggestions, and measure for an estimate. The cost of materials - not Eric's, but from manufacturer - has caused us to scale back the project a bit. We are in the process of getting a final estimate before moving forward. Assuming we use Eric and Serenescapes, I will definitely update with a new review on how everything went.
