I had A Fine Line spend a day painting door, window and baseboard trim. Several days before the crew arrived, one of the guys gave me a call to discuss the details of the job. They realized special paint would be needed and offered to pick it up and bring it with them at cost. Overall, good quality painting. The workers were neat and professional. It's easy to recommend A Fine Line to others.

Fine Line worked with Lark D to do the painting after the drywall repairs were made. They were very prompt and I had no problem communicating with them. They did a wonderfull job of matching the colors so that you could not tell the touch ups from the origional paint. I would definitely use them again and would reccomend them to anybody.

It was a big job and Richard was able to give us accurate information about what we were to expect from him and his crew. They repaired all cracks and holes seamlessly, cleaned up after each day and were very polite and on target with the job. Richard did a walk thru the last day and finished the job to our complete satisfaction.

Richard and his painters did an amazing job! Richard was highly responsive prior to the job. He asked all of the right questions to ensure that we ended up exactly with what we were looking for. They were very thorough in their painting and paid attention to every detail. The edges near the trim were extremely precise and the color on the walls very consistent. Richard even provided a sheet of paper after they were done that had paint samples and details so that we had a reference if we ever need to buy more. And they started and finished the job right on time. We were really impressed by their work and professionalism and will definitely call Richard again when we need painting done.

Danny showed up for our appointment, however, it took a few corrections and confirmations for him to get the appointment right. When we spoke on the phone to make the appointment, he was very scattered and by the end of the call it was clear that even though he called me, didn't didn't know who he was speaking to. He had confused me with another customer. After that all got sorted out, he still had to confirm and reconfirm the appointment for the next few days. After we met for the consult, he told me he would get the estimate to me the next morning. It's been a week and I still haven't received it or any kind of follow-up. It's clear that Danny is overwhelmed with business, perhaps from good work in the past, but it's incredibly unprofessional to waste someone's time if you can't take the job or follow through as you promise. I met with two additional painters from Angie's List who are rated as highly and extremely busy, but they had no difficulty managing the details. As an aside, comparing Danny to the other A-rated painters I interviewed, I didn't find Danny's advise to be good (for example, telling me to get our TV hung before painting rather than after--something that makes no sense to me or the other painters), and overall, I was left with a feeling that he wasn't in the same professional league as the others. UPDATE: Danny's response here is blatantly untrue. He did not provide an estimate in a "timely manner"; in fact I still have not received one: no email, nothing in the spam or junk folders, no texts, no calls. He is welcome to forward to me the supposedly sent email with the previous header on it. And it was never a question about his finding my house, it was the level of disorganization in the days leading up to the appointment. And with regard to wire-fishing causing extra holes, and having the TV installer come out a second time to hang the TV, this is ridiculous. I've never experienced these "extra holes," and even if there were, it would be a minor touch-up compared to the extra work of painting around all the new wires, outlets, and brackets. Think it through.

We always appreciate the imput of our prospective clients, and are disappointed that we did not meet this individuals expectations. A quote was provided to this individual in a timely manner by email. Upon arrival to the job site to review the project, an apology was given for the difficulty in locating the site as it is in a new subdivision and was not appearing in our navigational equipment. This client did recieve a confirmation call to verify the appointment we had. Regarding advise given, it was our suggestion that the wiring for the TV installation be done prior to the painting, as any time wires need to be "fished" through walls there is a possibility that additional holes will be made. It is logically better to Do this prior to painting. We did not advise that the actual mounting of theTV to the wall be done prior to painting. We are a very small company with only 5 full time employees. Due to the quality of our work we often are bidding alongside companies much larger than our own. We are seeking to grow to the point where we have a dedicated full time estimater/sales rep, and at the same time retain the high quality product that our reputation is based on.

Overall, while it is a significant procedure and does take tens days to complete a job this big, it went well. We were asked to do very little concerning getting ready for them. Putting away Books, wall hanging and nick nacks were about the only jobs for us to do before they came. They helped moved and replace furniture as necessary. Protected eveything from dust and paint. Basically, we called and made an appointment wit Mr. Davis to come over to take measurements room by room, tell us about the way it would work, what paints they will use for what job, pick out colors, get the estimate and set the time arrangements for the job. We are thrilled with the efficiency and professionalism and would not hesitate to use these services again and would heartily recommend them without hesitation. ,
Description of Work: Our entire house interior was repainted after ten years. 7 rooms and a hallway plus all the trim through out. We were given a choice on how to proceed with the work: partial week with a break for three weeks or conintuous back to back days for ten days. We chose the the back to back which fit our schedule perfectly. Walls were spackled as were the ceiling cracks from the earthquake. That was prep work. We staged the painting process in three separate areas of the house, so our daily life was least disrupted as possible. Danny Davis consulted with me about colors and work details on his first visit. We received a quuote within two days which included everything. The process was painless and pleasant. Mr. Davis inspected the work each morning and told painters if anything needed more work. I was impressed with attention to details. Communication was effortless with this company. The crew was professional friendly and courteous. They also were excellent at cleaning up each day after they finished.

The was more time consuming than I thought so my wife and I had to finish the room. The reason I would not hire them again would be due to poor planning and follow through. They were supposed to come one day but did not show up. I called and apparently there was a mix up and they were able to come the next day when I wouldn't be there. It all worked out but I usually like to be present when I have new contractors working on my house. They also agreed to provide an estimate for other jobs and that was never done. I asked for this twice, once in the summer and then prior to when they were originally scheduled to do the job. I never got a response and haven't followed up with them since that day.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's list promotion for 2 painters for 2 days with the hope to get a larger room painted. The price I paid is probably wrong since it was purchased in the summer and the work was done in November. Since I was paying for time, all the prep work was finished prior to them showing up. The acutal quality of work done was good. They were able to prime a lot of woodowork with an oil based primer.

They showed up when they said they would. My husband got all of the trim work done beforehand, but they still couldn’t complete the job in a day’s time. Also, they painted some of the work the wrong color, so we had to repaint. They were very meticulous, but incredibly slow. With two people working, it seemed like a room should’ve been done.

We liked working with this couple, and would liked to have done so again. We appreciate the recognition given for our punctuality and our 'meticulousness'. We take pride in our workmanship and always strive to render a fine product. We must smile about the statement, "...they painted some of the work the wrong color..." The lady of the house instructed our employees to paint an area of the room one color. When the man of the house arrived, he instructed them to go back with a different color on that area. As this was a coupon purchase for a set number of man hours, having to repaint anything would reduce the overall amount accomplished. We walk a fine line when members of the same household give differing instructions. This underscores the importance of a single person being designated to handle communication with the contractor.

I had another company paint the foyer and upstairs hallway but couldn't finish in time allotted. So I bought the Richard bell deal you offered. I was told by Danny that they would charge me for what wasn't finished on the first day the same hourly fee for the second day. There was some miscommunication on the second day. Two people from the company called me. Richard said they could only send one person for half the day, and Danny said the painter would be there the entire day. Also I was told he was coming from 35 miles away and was on his way. This was at 9 am. When I returned home, the trim was far from being completed, they did not move a buffet because it would scratch the floor (I moved it without any problem), and was told I had a painter there for 8 hours. Plus I found that the upstairs hallway had an area that had been missed. I then hired another company who completed the job beautifully but was another $500.00. So I was not pleased with Richard bell painting.

It appears that we are one of 3 companies that worked with this client to help complete this project. This member purchased a single $400 Big Deal Coupon for 16 man hours of labor, which is the only payment for service we have received from this individual. We fulfilled this coupon in its entirety on December 3, 2012. While we always strive to satisfy the needs and expectations of our clients, at times people expect more than what can actually be delivered in a set number of hours. We did have a single employee return the following day to continue working on the project at a per man hour rate. It is noteworthy that this client did not pay for the additional work performed, and that after several attempts to communicate with this client, they have not responded. It is our hope that our further attempts will meet with success.

Richard Bell Painting was very professional, courteous, honest, everything you could want from someone coming into your home. They were straight up from start to finish, showed up when they agreed to, performed all tasks, and even additional tasks uncovered as part of the job. I would recommend them to all who are looking for a pinter from the smallest of jobs to a full house painting inside or out.

The job went well. The first day they got a little more than half the job done. The second day one of the guys was a little late, but he stayed after to make up for it. They did a great job overall, and the only downside was that because of time, they were only able to get one coat of paint on 4 of my 7 doors, and I wish they had sanded down a few areas that were missed when they were joint compounded to make fixes. They didn't do the joint compound work, but I wished they had caught it instead of painting over it. With these things in mind, I would definitely use them again. They are good group to work with and they were able to get a lot done given they only had two days.

Richard Bell Painting did a great job. When I told them I wanted interior trim repainted they recognized that with the age of my home it would require special oil-based paint to adhere to the 1970s era original paint. They offered to pick-up the paint at cost. Quality of work was good and the crew was professional.

Richard Bell was prompt on giving a first look over what needed to be done, gave great advice and suggestions. Took a little while to get scheduled only because they were swamped with work but I was extremely impressed with the results. The two painters (If I remember correctly Jerry and "Q") were extremely professional and neat. They were able to get more done than I originally anticipated which made the deal even better. Overall I think I got pretty good value, given our home in the Fan has high ceilings and intricate trim. No complaints at all on the quality of the work- it was very solid. Their guys were pretty thoughtful and conscientious; worked hard (important given "deal" - see below). This was a daily deal (fixed hours for set price) to start; we expanded scope to include significant wall repairs and shutters. The only critique I have relates to the nature of the "Deal" itself; on the front end, one of Richard's guys said he thought we could get "X, Y, and Z" done w/ time we purchased; X and Y were completed but we had to pay overage to complete Z. To me this is primarily an expectation issue - we got what we paid for and were happy in the end but wished for maybe a little more conservatism in projecting on the front end. Would recommend to others.
Description of Work: Significant plaster wall repair in a few areas ($500 of project) . Paint walls, ceiling, trim in large living room area. Paint walls of foyer, including up large expansive stair case. Paint shutters in relevant rooms ($~250 for maybe 8 pair). We paid for materials.

Purchased 2 painters for 2 days as part of a "big deal". We are new to town so were relying on Angie's List to help us find reliable and professional contractors to assist with the painting of our house. Most of the interior I'm painting myself but there was no way I could handle the foyer and the master bath as the ceilings are too high for me. Scheduling took some back and forth. Learned a bit more than I needed about this company's merger with another as I was trying to get this on the calendar. Eventually we settled on a date. Then, the day before they were scheduled, we were contacted about re booking for another day. Given all we'd have to juggle I was a bit ticked off. When I couldn't move the dates, they agreed to stick to the schedule we originally picked. Guys showed up on time and worked hard for the allotted time. The quality of the work was solid but I have to say I was disappointed in some of the detail work. When I paint, I'm really careful in how I cut in and work around moldings because I know how one little slip can stand out. So, I was surprised that professional painters didn't show the same care. In each room they painted, there are two or three spots where paint from the field found its way onto the molding. I'd think the pros would either A. not do this or B. catch these mistakes and clean them up as they go. In this case, neither happened which kept me from giving them an "A" for their work. Overall, a good value given the "big deal" but not quite up to my high standards.

I love working with these guys! When we first moved to town and didn't know anybody, I turned to Angie's List and that's where I found them. The reviews were great so I decided to get a bid. I will be honest, he didn't get right back with me. But people had said great things about them, so I persisted and I'm glad that I did. They are a small team, which I really liked because you know who you're working with. Their prices are the best I've found any where, so well worth the wait! We first used them to paint our new kitchen that had just been remodeled. They were done quickly and with no mess. They've since gone on the paint my dining room and stairwell walls, trim, and doors. They also prepped and painted our front porch. On one occasions, I found myself in a jam and needed my back porch painted right away for a party. They were able to accommodate me. Whenever I've felt like they needed to touch up an area, they got right on it. I'm preparing to have them do some drywall and plaster repair prior to painting my living room. I have no doubt that everything will go smoothly. And this summer we plan to have our exterior repainted and won't look at anyone else to do the job.

You will be delighted with this company!! This company worked with us on a number of very trying schedule changes as we had a family member dying of cancer. They bent over backwards to accomodate our needs. The showed up on schedule (the final schedule), and were professional in every way possible. The drive time for the workers was further that the company was used to, but they still managed to present big smiles upon arrival. The job was started on schedule and they left on schedule. The work was beautiful. Only very "minor" post work issues, that we elected to not even call them back on. A door was not painted and a great room column was not caulked or painted (1 out of 2). Hardware for curtain rods was removed prior to painting, and discarded in one of the bedrooms. No big deal, but requires finding replacements in Fredericksburg or Richmond. I would definitely use this group again, and recommend them to all who are looking for professional, affordable interior paint work. Fred
