When the batch arrived (late), the concrete was coming out dry and crumbly. The patio was supposed to be a Mother's Day gift for me from my husband. The contractor (who has 30 years of experience working concrete) was concerned about the consistency from the get-go but he very much wanted my gift to be complete, so he tried to work with the product. The Titan technician that was on site added more water to make it workable, but because of the dry cosistency, a project that should have taken 2-3 hours, took almost 6. The last batch was the worst because water had to keep getting added. Apparently this is what is called a "hot batch" of concrete. Even the technician admitted that this batch was "getting away from him" on the phone with the company. The next morning when we woke up, the concrete was cracked. My husband and I were devastated. It was Saturday, so of course there was no one to speak to in customer service. We called on Monday and were told we had to speak with someone in quality control. We had to e-mail him and wait for a response. He was busy with other jobs so it took weeks to finally get an answer, and they send someone to inspect the site. Several days later we get a letter from Titan basically blaming our contractor (who has contracts with the city of Norfolk for concrete work and has NEVER had a patio crack on him) and they claim that they sent a good product but he took too long to do the job. We have many witnesses (nosy neighbors!) who came to watch the entire process and can corroborate our version of events. Unfortunately, I am a simple homeowner without a team of legal expects to send out letters such as the one that Titan sent us to deny any responsibility in our cracking patio. We now at our own expense have to try to salvage this patio by applying a very expensive sealer/paint to hopefully cover all of the cracks. (Almost $400 just in supplies.) What was supposed to be a happy gift has been a heartache. I may have lost the fight to have Titan take responsibility for their bad batch of product, but I can , hopefully, prevent others from working with a Tian of a company that cares nothing for a little consumer trying to make their home a little nicer.
