SIMPLY CLEAN

Wendy did a very thorough job cleaning our house. She always found little things to clean which were totally unexpected. Wonderful personality, very professional. We are an older couple and could no longer keep things as clean as I liked. I am very picky and have never been satisfied with any other cleaning company. Wendy was by far the best at meeting our needs

I was completely ripped off. I left a check for $185 at my house for the cleaning service, Simply Clean, to pick up when they came to clean my house. The house was completely empty, it needed to be swept, wiped down and the bathrooms needed to be cleaned. I checked my bank account that same day and saw that the check I left for them had been cashed. This made me believe that the job had been completed. Having moved down to the Outer Banks, I had my cousin go and check the house. He let me know that piles of dirt were scattered all over the floor and the house looked as if nothing had been done at all. My landlord went by later that day and called me asking why I hadn't had the house cleaned. She took another $150 out of my security deposit to pay for another cleaning company to come in and clean the house. SIMPLY CLEAN took my money and did absolutely nothing that they were supposed to do. I called Summertime Madden (the owner) and stated my complaint. She assured me that someone would come back out and finish the job, they never did. She then continuously apologized and said that she would refund my money (she never did). I called repeatedly for several months, Summertime Madden stopped taking my calls (even accidentally answered it once and hung up on me when she realized who I was). SIMPLY CLEAN is a scam company as far as I'm concerned. I urge anyone who reads this to please please please look elsewhere for any cleaning services.

Summertime seems like an honest person, but the business should be called "simply unreliable" instead of simply clean. She did a good job cleaning during the first visit, and assured me that I would always have the same quality and cleaners. But she never cleaned my house again after that, and her staff did a poor job. First, they were consistently late, sometimes over an hour late. They never called to let me know, so I was always left wondering whether they would show up. They did not return my calls. In addition to the habitual lateness, the quality of cleaning varied noticeably from appointment to appointment. Once they did not empty trash from bathrooms. Another time, they did not vacuum properly. Always something. Once, a new cleaner showed up reeking of cigarette smoke and immediately threw her jacket on the sofa cushion. It stank of smoke for days. Finally, the last straw, they did a complete no-show. That was the end of my patience.

There was a little confusion over the start date, which we did work out. Summertime stated that was due to hired help in her office. The two women who came to clean the move in house arrived late and had no idea paint drops & windows were to be included. This is something Summertime & I spoke in depth about since the windows and floors still had some latex paint drops. The women did some vacuuming, moping of floors, wiped sinks, counters and appliances. The emphasis is on the word some. That was it! The only cleaner I saw used was an unidentified liquid in a manual spray pump bottle. The only floor I saw moped was the living room tile floor. Tile floors are throughout except the bedrooms and dinning room. The move out cleaning was to start at 5 pm sharp, and the buyers walk through at 6pm. Summertime and helper arrived 15 minutes late so the three of us had to clean the house. I was disappointed, but promised a free cleaning the next Friday, but no one showed. No one has called back.

Excellent job- I hired her permanently.
