Beware of this company! I had hired this company on a recommendation and toward the end of my home's project realized I had made a terrible decision. At first, everything seemed to be going well. Charles and his crew showed up and completed two or three days worth of work and said they would be back Monday to finish. Well Monday rolled around, and the owner, Charles, gave me an excuse on why they couldn't make it, then Tuesday, another excuse, then Wednesday nothing, Thursday nothing, and Friday they showed back up to try and complete the job. Well, it was supposed to take Friday and Saturday to finish, but they were rushing to end Friday. They "completed the job" and left. First of all, the paint job was AWFUL, and when I say awful I mean my 6-year-old-daughter could have painted it better. There were clear roller marks everywhere, red paint on the light fixtures, red paint on the white trim around the windows, red paint on the tile, and it was just splatted onto the wall and rushed through. Any type of line was not straight and just looked like zero effort was put into it. My bathroom curtains were thrown onto the floor and left on the floor, there were screws laying around, blue painter's tape still left on the ceiling (in multiple places), staples on top of the carpet (which one went right through my foot), light switch covers weren't put back on (four were left laying on the sink in my spare bathroom), two lights were left hanging down in the hallway, one bathroom light fixture was painted on, another bathroom light fixture was half put back, and trash was left laying all over my house in and my yard. They also cleaned out all their paint supplies in my yard and left it there for me to clean up. He also "fixed" my carpet as part of the job, and as soon as I went over it with a vacuum it came wholly unattached and rolled up. During the job, I overheard his worker saying he didn't even know how to put the carpet padding down and that he had never done it before. Why tell me you can fix my carpet if you clearly can't? Why? So, I texted the owner, Charles, about the way everything was left, and he apologized and came back the next day to "fix everything." He was clearly annoyed that he had to come back, barely looked at me, barely spoke to me, half-effort fixed only part of the issues, and rushed back out my door to leave. He literally walked out the door while I was speaking to him, didn't tell me he was finished, didn't ask me to look at it to see if it was good, just left and then texted me that he left a light fixture hanging down so paint would dry. There was paint all over that light fixture and he left it there. He didn't stop and take two seconds to tell me to my face that he left the light hanging down, either. After he left, there was still painter's tape on the ceiling, the paint job was only slightly fixed, light fixtures still loose or hanging down, he put the emergency gas shut off light switch cover on the wrong switch and didn't even ask me if that's where it went. He told me he would refund me the $150 I paid him to fix my carpet, and left without refunding me, and instead, decided to hammer a tack, nail or fastener of some kind in the carpet to hold it down, and then refused to refund me the $150 he promised. I asked for a refund for the awful paint job, because I'm going to have to another company fix it, and he said he would send me a check for the bathroom less the cost of what he bought in supplies. However, he decided to use a lot of paint I already had here, so he didn't have to purchase a lot because my supplies were mostly used. Charles is refusing to refund me for the carpet because he hammered in a fastener. After I reached back out to him for being completely rude and not fixing everything he agreed to, he proceeded to text me that there was something about me that "he didn't like." Who says that to someone? I am sure he doesn't like me because I called him out on unprofessionalism, rudeness, a bad attitude, horrible work ethic, inefficiency and legit awful painting. Now I am stuck having to get someone else to come out and do the job the right way. Samurai Painting rushed through everything, cut corners, were incredibly inefficient, had lousy communication, and my entire experience was horrible. I regret hiring this company!

Description of Work: Exterior painting which he promised would not chip and peel but it did Did not get work completed in a timely manner and project was very disorganized.Leaking windows that were supposed to be fixed now leak worse than before. He installed a new front door without any real idea of what he was doing. He used the wrong paint so the paint peeled off around the doors The door is not cut right so it sticks and lastly the door locks were not installed properly so that only one of the double locks works. Overall very poor workmanship. Would not recommend MR Charles Stenger to anyone

Response from SAMURAI PAINTING
We are very sorry for our client’s negative experience and review. We strive to do the job right and go to great lengths to satisfy our clients. At that time, when the economy took a dive, we were stressed to get work while expanding our services to include installing doors. There was a definite learning curve, yet these issues were not present when we completed the job and the door probably could have been adjusted. Our window sealants didn’t fail because we removed old window sealants back to sound and stable surfaces prior to installing new sealants. It was the old sealants that failed. Client’s home was damaged with extensive wood rot and bare wood from long exposure to sun and moisture. If any of our paint or caulk failed, it was from previous neglect of not painting home 5 years sooner and previous painting. When we finished work, client was unhappy with our disorganized door installation; however, we just recently learned of these problems. Had client called us back, we would have corrected problems, even if we hadn’t caused them, and stood behind our work and commitment to do what’s right.

Mr. Stenger is very professional and does quality work, and has worked on my home before. He sometimes can get "too busy" and take a while to get out to the job, but is worth waiting for. The painting team did a great job repairing the water damaged areas and matching the original paint on the house. Work was of very good quality.
Description of Work: Replaced water damaged fascia boards with Azek, and primed and repainted areas to match exisiting paint.

Project week smoothly from start to finish. Our project was not a huge exterior painting job, so the contractor was a little less zealous than he most likely would have been, had our project been more extensive. However, when the contractor's crew arrive, they were extremely professional, safe, clean and courteous. I'd recommend this contractor to anyone, regardless of you job's size.
