Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Plumber (Barry?) was very professional and knowledgeable. He showed up when promised and fixed clogged toilet. He was very honest (the problem ended up being something simple) and didn't try to gouge us on the price. I will definitely use this company again.

When the second technician arrived he came with no uniform and arrived with a co-worker who was in uniform but did not speak a word of English. He walked into the garage and asked the problem. I told him that somebody had been there earlier and replaced the pressure valve but there was still a leak. He looked at the cover on the pressure valve and I told him that the earlier technician said he checked the valve and it was no longer leaking. He did not. at that point, bother to take the cover off so it was not visible. The second tech then told me he would need to knock out the wall and did I want him to proceed with the repair. He also said it was going to be an additional 89 dollars to do this plus whatever else needed to be done. I asked him to please go behind the wall since the crawl space was right there and the piped from this area would be visible. He sent his partner under the house and when he came out he said, through the interpreting technician, that the pipes were fine but there was a part of them he could not see. The tech again said he needed to knock out the wall and it would be additional money involved. The non-English speaking technician then took the cover off of the pressure valve and after looking more closely, he saw that the seals were not tight and it was still leaking. He tightened up the seals and the leak subsided. The English speaking tech then said he was going to have to charge the other technician from the morning for this visit. He then asked to see my receipt so he could make sure that the other tech had really been there that morning. He then told me, well the other guy tried to hurry through a job and now he is going to have to pay for it. He also said make sure to use the one year warranty on the repair if I needed it. The entire thing was a bit bizarre. This guy was really confrontational when he got there and it seems like he must have been called away from something because he wasn't even in a uniform. He was also very intent on charging me more money and was willing to knock out all of the drywall without even looking at the original repair to see if that was the problem. Had it not been for the non-English speaking tech that was with him, I would have also been paying for a drywall repair.

I made my appointment online with roto-rooter. They gave me a 5 hour window of time for the service call. I received a courtesy call when the plumber was on his way to my house. He quickly diagnosed the problem, gave me a price and got to work. I have not had any problems since. I am very happy with the service and the professionalism of this company.

He arrived the same morning that I phoned. Plumber (Brad) was knowledgable, communicated well and cleared the line. Prices seemed reasonable for services provided - he was here for four hours. Be sure and use the Angies List coupon. Actual service call was $300. I purchased some products as well.

I called around 11:00 explaining what I needed to get done, and that I wanted it done ASAP. The receptionist was extremely courteous, and told me that they would be able to get someone out by 2 PM. They called around 12:30 and told me the repairman was leaving for my place, and he wound up showing up a little past 1:30. He gave me an estimate, which I accepted, and he immediately started work. He did the work properly, cleaned up after himself, and charged me what he estimated. The shower works now!

It went very well. The service person knew his job and went about it as soon as I authorized the work. The only problem I had was the prise and that started out at $205 but I had a coupon for $25 off from the phone book so that helped. I have to say the service tec. was very professional in his work an ddid a great job.

We called on a Friday morning. They quickly set an appt for 12 - 2 pm on that day, which was great. They called at 2 pm to indicate they were finishing another job and then would be heading over. However, at 4 pm, no show and no call. We followed up and got the same message - finishing another job and would be over soon. We called again a little after 5 pm and got the same message. Unfortunately we had another commitment at 6 pm and had to reschedule for the next morning. Understand that sometimes jobs can be unpredictable but a more realistic message at 2 pm would have been very helpful. The guy showed up promptly the next morning. He was very friendly and courteous. The place is a rental and the plumber commented he had been there before and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem with an hour.

I called the office about 8:30AM and someone was at my house in about an hour. Shawn was polite, courteous and explained all possible causes of our problem as well as how he would know which cause was the correct one. No charge to come out. Only charged for work done. Seems honest---didn't go for work-case (most expensive) scenario. Did not make a mess in my house.

They did a good job. We didn't have any follow up problems.

Received service in Oct. '05 main drain cleaning - backup in laundry room. Price $135 after coupon. Received service Mar. '07 main drain backed up again. Price $150 after coupon. Called them this weekend and service is now $195 without coupon. Excellent service and punctuality, but I just can't afford increases of almost $20 per year. Will be going to more of a local route if needed. Called local guy from Angie's list and will do during normal working hours for $135.

Downstairs toilet began to bubble and then back up and overflow whenever water was running in any part of the house. I was pleasantly surprised to get someone to come out on a Sunday morning within a couple hours of my calling. The technician verified the problem by having me run water in the kitchen. He then went outside, located and inspected the clean out (which was crusted with mortar, probably from when the house was built nearly 40 years ago). He opened it, had me run some more water to verify that it backed up, then explained the charges for cleaning the line out to the street. I agreed. He did the job quickly and checked afterwards to be sure that everything was draining properly. All in all, a smooth job and done in far less time than I expected from the time I called to the time it was all over with.

He was professional while he was working. The quality of his work was good. He was courteous and kind. I would use him in the future. I would recommend him.

They have fixed several plumbing issues around my house over the years. They have always been willing to work with me and have always stood by their warranties as well. I haven't had any problems

We discovered the blockage on Sunday evening. So, I checked Angie's List and decided to go with Roto Rooter. I sent an email asking for a Monday morning appointment. At 7:20am, Roto Rooter called and told us that a technician would be here between 8:00am and 9:00am. Tony, the technician, showed at exactly 9:00am. He was clean, well groomed, well spoken, polite, and personable. He explained what he was doing, what he feared, and what he was hoping for. We also managed to talk about all sorts of things in the mean time. But, he never lost track of what was happening with his drain snake. We were dreading this work based on our previous experience. But, as it turned out, Tony made it as pleasant as possible. Thank you, young man!

Shawn was an excellent representative of Roto-Rooter: he knew his stuff, articulate, polite, clean, careful with messes, clear and not condescending in explaining things, very personable, and made sure the cats didnt get out! He was able to avoid going on my roof (in need of replacement) by pulling the garage toilet after determining where the blockage appeared to be. He changed blades to make sure it was clear, tested all water sources upstairs simultaneously, and did not leave until he was sure everything was OK. He wiped the garage half bath floor, resealed the toilet, and honored my coupon from the Roto-Rooter website! From the initial call which was responded to immediately by informed, polite, and genuinely concerned staff, I was VERY impressed! If ever there is a repeat problem, I hope Shawn is able to fix it for me! Please use these folks-they are outstanding!

The gentleman that was supposed to come never showed up. They send an alternate tech, but he said that he could not do the work for the price that the other man gave me. He started the work and then said that he could not do the job and left. Luckily, my husband was able to finish the job.

I called first thing Monday morning at 8am and he was here by 9. After checking my roof air vent he used a snake to unclog the drain. He was very professional and quoted me a price in advance. Since he quoted $155.00 I figured more would be involved than the 5 minutes it took him with the snake. Although he unclogged the drain as I requested, I thought $155.00 for 1 hour including travel time was high.

The service man was arrived in a timely manner. He came from Virginia Beach to Western Branch section of Chesapeake. He was polite and had a sense of humor about my own efforts to clear the drain. I thought the price was reasonable for the job done. In addition, I bought a company product to keep all of my household drains running free.

They did a great job. They were prompt, professional, and clean, and the work was well done. I would definitely use them again.

Service was scheduled 2 days in advance to be done between 8-10am Wednesday. Rep called at 9:15, telling me they would try to get a rep out to me. I called at 10:00 to cancel, had to get on with business. Phone message left at 11:30 that they finally had a rep available.

This is the first time we used Roto-Rooter and they came right away after we called. They snaked it and put some chemicals down the drain. They worked for about two hours and we've had no problems since.

The men did an excellent job replacing the kitchen sink. They had to redo pipes and move the drain. They got very creative in finding a way to move the drain. They were very good. I haven t had any trouble with any of their work. The price was unbeatable. They also insulated all the pipes.

Roto Rooter did a good job. I have not had any problems since then, so I am very pleased with the job. They cleaned their mess up and wore shoe stockings so they didnt track in the house. I recommend them to everyone.

They came out on time and were prepared. Everything was satisfactory. I have had no problems since. The guy they sent out showed up in a company truck with a uniform (to me that was very professional). The guy was very knowledgeable about plumbing.

I have used Roto Rooter several times in the past and have always been pleased. They are always able to fix any clogs I might have rather quickly. That is all I have ever used them for was drainage problems. They were able to get my tub unclogged with a snake. They did this very quickly, I might add. I am pleased with the pricing and the politeness I receive from them. They are always available to me and I am thankful for that as well.
