The actual purchasing process was great - the employees were kind, seemed knowledgeable, and were eager to help. After unloading the wood in the room, I opened each box, as instructed, to let the wood acclimate to the conditions in the house. I was away for a few hours, and when I came home I noticed a strong chemical odor coming from the room and my eyes were watering. I started doing some research and found several inconsistencies with the labeling - there were two different MSDS sheets on the Lumber Liquidator website, and one said the product contained formaldehyde glue and the other did not. I tried to call the manufacturer number, but was routed back to LL's corporate number. After doing a little more research on bamboo flooring I decided to return the floor and the local store was great in helping me out and refunding my money without hassle. My issue isn't with this store, it's with the larger Lumber Liquidator company and its opaque nature and questionable practices.
Description of Work: Provided bamboo floors. I picked them up and planned to install them myself.

The floors are beautiful! They came on time and worked all day. We opted for the nailed down floors versus the slide and lock. They were also able to match the flooring sample perfectly to the wood floors in our kitchen.
Description of Work: They put new hardwood floors down in our family room.

I am not satisfied with the wood. It looks good aesthetically, but there is bubbling in the finish.

I went to the store Lumber Liquidators in Hampton VA and the had an installer that they recommended and you would think they were rebutable but that was not the case. The company was named Parker Home Improvements Danny Parker being the owned, his face should be under the definition of fallacy! He seemed sorta Santa like, round, jolly sweet and said everything that you want to hear, but not true to his word.He gave me a break down of the individual prices for my entire house with the economy they way it is and I wanted to wait. I noticed after he left that there was something missing on the quote, I called and they said that the contractor would bring it with him when he came, which he did, but there was still something not right but at that cost for that part one would imagine that patching would be included again not the case. The also removed a half wall and left electrical wires hanging out of my wall and holes in it as well one in the ceiling is 6X6and quot; and the other is about 6X36and quot;, I had the electrical fixed for my peace of mind. I had been told the job would take two days and it took more than 5 and I was never asked if I was satisfied until approximately a month ago the office manager sent me an email asking so she could put my file away and I told her she was the first to ask that, but no I was not happy. There is a piece of T molding, which was missing from the original order and Mike at the store never backordered it, so one of the subcontractors said I needed a piece and asked if there was a lumber yard near to just get one long piece, I called and let him speak to man to get specifics and then I went to get it, when I returned I let him see it and he told me it was correct that I could stain it for them to use. When another man came on Friday he said that it was not the right piece and I said your guy AJ said it was I am not going to buy another piece of $40 moulding and he said they could make it work. It came up over the weekend, they came back tried something else to attach it and again it came up. After the third or fourth time they said oh we need to use concrete anchors and I was still not happy with that, he told me how expensive the screws were, I don't care what they cost for them, I am the customer and I should be happy shouldn't I? They will be coming back this week for like the 5th time so we will see? I decided to contact Mr. Lynch at the advice of a lawyer I spoke with and I recveived an email that they are not responsible for the contractors only the warranty on the flooring! Who is repsonsible for the contractors and subcontractors? All of the quarter round that they put down is not the same ends don't match and one piece already looks warped from not being attachted correctly. Also they did a small tile job when the tile man came, he didn't have a sponge, float, bucket or grout saw I loaned them mine and all were not returned, the other flooring guy borrowed a large caulking gun that wasn't returned either. My wallet that contained my credit cards and social security card came up missing as well. At the direction of the policeman he said that I should put anyone who had been in my house so I included them as well. I don't know who took it but it didn't seem to far out to put them down as suspects. With the dynamics of this company from the top on down who wouldn't think that such behavior wouldn't be out of the question? Nothing can be done until someone tries to use them and thankfully that hasn't happened! I don't know how to explain how it feels to let someone into your house only to be ripped off by them, it is something that you opened your door too! Horrible!
Description of Work: -Replace all of the flooring in my home except where there was tile and repalce about four tiles and then they broke one removing during construction, I had taken up an extra two to repair myself and they put those back in, several grout issues with that and it had only been a few months -Remove half wall -I removed all of the furniture before they arrived and they did help me with four pieces; 3 chairs and a love seat

Poor floor leveling. Inadequate quantity of material caused "cut and paste" work. Lousy clean-up at completion of job. Lumber Liquidators did return to clean up the newly installed flooring when we called them and asked that they do so.
Description of Work: Installed bellawood flooring in my living room. I bought the flooring from Lumbar Liquidators. They also provided a "certified" installer outfit. The material was fine but the installation was not acceptable.

When we first looked at the flooring available, we were told if we purchased the flooring by Wednesday it would be in by the following Wednesday (7 days.). When we purchased the flooring, we were told it would not arrive for 10 days; it won't be in until the following Friday. We called to check on the order, two days before it was supposed to arrive, we were told it wouldn't be in until the following Monday. My wife asked for the Manager and she was told he would call her. Five hours later, I had to call and he said the problem was on his list of things to do. When I explained to the Manager that the contractor was supposed to start installing the flooring on Monday and that that he had promised us that the flooring would be in by Friday, he said, "Did I say, 'Cross my heart?'" He also stated that the company had changed the date for the truck to make the delivery so he had to accept it and so would I. After threatening to cancel the entire order and come in for a refund, he corrected the problem and had the shipment arrive as initially promised. To get my shipment delivered on time and notify me that it would be in as scheduled, took him 5 minutes. Obviously, this was a problem he could have resolved 5 hours earlier; he just needed to be motivated.

The installation ended up twice per sq ft than was quoted in the store...but ( and it's a big one) is it was essentially 4 rooms with a hallway, closet, kitchen and bathroom, so I can understand the additional costs due to all the doorways, cabinets, and etc. that had to be calculated above the base price. I used a mid range laminate that was the same cost as a much thinner laminate at Lowe's or Home Depot, it also came with the padding, another cost savings. The install was professional and done under some severe time constraints and all was accomplish with time to spare.
Description of Work: Installed 200 sq ft of laminate flooring in, kitchen, hall closet, hallway, and half bath

Their estimate was for $3000. I remember that their representative was late for his appointment. He came and gave me an estimate but did not explain anything. He then left. I had to call them two times to have it emailed to me. When I finally got the estimate, it was in line with the service provider that I went ahead with. I would recommend the other members to buy the laminate flooring there as they had a good deal on the laminate flooring but I would not recommend them for installation. However, they were very professional. I would buy laminate flooring from them in the future but would not use their services for installing.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from Lumber Liquidators in August or September 2010 to install laminate flooring in my house.
