The countertop and backsplash subcontractors for Lowe's did an excellent job. On time, pleasant, very good work. It looks beautiful! The front door subcontractor did an excellent job. The door is also beautiful! ...But Lowe's vender sent the wrong size door the first time and left critical parts out the second time it was ordered. The delays added several months to the job. The subcontractor is the only one that does large front doors for Lowe's; therefore, even when the door came in, we had to wait several weeks before it could be installed. As far as the job, itself, the subcontractors did a wonderful job and I would recommend them highly. Just don't be in a rush to get your door!
Description of Work: Lowe's in Hampton, VA did our work, not Military Hwy, Norfolk. They installed new kitchen countertops, backsplash and front door with glass panels

It was incredible. They had a special for this particular color surface. It was a beautiful color and I was shocked that it was on sale. We interacted with the sales person and they were very polite. They sen the person to measure it and he was super nice and he helped me to get some stuff out. We weren't completely ready for them because we were supposed to have everything torn out. They were very patient and actually helped my husband to get it ready. The final product is beautiful.

They were fantastic. I had a very good experience with them and I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. The price was right and they did an excellent job putting in my carpet. The installer, Professional Flooring, did an outstanding job, especially with the finishing around the stairs and helping me with trying to remove squeaky stair noises. They were there almost 10 hours and were meticulous in the installation. I have had no problems with the carpet at all and am very happy with the quality.

TERRIBLE! I purchased the $250.00 gift card at 2:50PM on Wednesday, and then I decided overnight that I wasn't going to give the gift card. I went back at 11:30AM on Thursday, the next day, and was informed that gift cards are non-refundable, even tho' I purchased the card, I had my receipt and it had been less than 24 hours. END OF STORY, that is company policy! There is no place on the gift card that says it cannot be refunded or on the receipt. BUT if I turn over the receipt in much smaller very light blue type it says it. I called Lowes headquarters, there response was the same, no matter what I said they went back to the teleprompter repeating and repeating the same thing, it is not refundable. I purchased it, and they won't honor my request. BEWARE of Lowes Home Centers, they aren't worth what they advertise. From now on it's Home Depot for me and as many as I know will know how ruthless Lowes is.

In November of last year we decided to re-carpet two bedrooms, a hallway and a stairwell. We went to Lowes because they were having a and quot;free paddingand quot; special, but that was only on very expensive Stainmaster carpeting. After the salesman figured out the total (including moving furniture,, hauling away old carpeting, stair installation, etc) the final total was several thousand dollars. Once I stated that that was a bit more than I wanted to spend the salesman immediately looked for different options and came up with a solution that was about 1/3 the total price so I paid the initial fee for the measurements. About a week later the measurements were taken and the installer contacted me the next day. The installer came about a week later and installed the carpeting in about 6 hours. The installers were very professional, did an excellent job of installing the carpeting and left everything just as neatly as they found it. In March of this year we decided to re-carpet our master bedroom and went back to the same Lowes. The service and quality was just as good the second time around.

Lowe's has much better delivery service than Home Depot. I went to Chesapeake and Norfolk. Their prices are basically the same, they price match. Their delivery services are better there. They are always on time. It's going through the delivery process, both have absolutely wonderful delivery people, but I like them better about changing dates. They are more flexible. Home Depot won't hold it for more than 30 days. It becomes very complicated. Where here you can call the day before and reschedule and they are fine with it.

I was extremely disappointed with my Lowe's experience in having our countertops installed. The contractor - Chuck Conklin, while extremely nice, did a very poor job. One counter was crooked and he blamed the wall and stated there was nothing he could do. We actually hired someone else to come out, uninstall the counter, cut the backer board on the wall and re-install the counter again as Chuck stated he "didn't do" backer boards. There was also a portion of laminate with nothing behind it. He stated he meant to install a wood piece but "forgot". He was willing to come fix that. Finally, he left a complete mess. There was sawdust and pieces of the counter all over the floors, the faces of my oven and dishwasher, and underneath the cabinets. Finally, we have a ceramic cooktop and he did not re-install the brackets for the power cord. Overall - a horrible experience. It was interesting that the counter itself was only about $550 but it cost over $800 for the install. With this quality of service, should have just done it ourselves. I am appalled that Lowe's would have someone with this low quality of work as their contractor.

It went well, smooth, everything. I love Lowe's for the fact that I bought my washing machine and dryer from them. They came out and did everything for me and cleaned up what they took out. When I compared their prices to Home Depot and Sears, Lowe's had the best prices. They were even better than Walmart. They will set it out and show you how to work it.

The installer was on time, knowledgeable, and very professional. He showed Lowe's and quot;what to expect nextand quot; information sheet. ~This is when we found out Lowe's would not move furniture, (contrary to what their website claimed.) ~ They insisted on a plastic vapor barrier under the house, which we just had removed on the advice of an expert in coastal building. (When we called Lowe's to try to discuss this, we were flatly dismissed.) ~Predictable expenses such as door trimming and baseboard replacement were not included in the estimate; instead, they would be added to the bill later, at an unknown rate... after the contract was signed and the work was underway. That's just not honest. As for that 35$.. well, if they had shown us that and quot;what to expect nextand quot; sheet right away, when we first went in the store, we would have known Lowe's wouldn't work with us. No 'in-home detailed measurement' would have been necessary. Chalk it up to experience
Description of Work: Lowe's offers a fair price for a good flooring product. We went web-shopping, and then to the store. We were pleased. The next step was to purchase an' in-home detailed measurement' ($35, which would be deducted from the overall cost. ) These measurements would be sent to Lowe's, where they would create a quote. .

I've spent over $5,500 at Lowes in the last two months and to be honest, I'm ready to switch over to the Home Depot. The only decent experience I've really had was when we purchased our refrigerator and dishwasher last weekend. The rest (paint supplies, hardware, shelving and storage, electric etc) has been less than stellar in terms of stock and cashier service. My husband and I went to the Norfolk Store on Military Hwy yesterday after visiting the Virginia Beach store on VB Blvd for shelving. We were able to find the proper shelving however when it came to checking out I asked if we could use a $10 off $50 purchase coupon I received in the mail in addition to our 10% military discount. Last week I purchased our refrigerator/dishwasher and we were able to use an identical $10 coupon along with the military discount. The cashier said she didn't think so but she'd try. Without answering whether she could she quickly completed the transaction, tossed the $10 coupon in the trash and gave me my receipt. With the line behind me I didn't want to calculate the receipt before leaving so I did so in the car. I came to realize she did not apply that $10 coupon. So either A) she did not try or B) she couldn't but failed to offer it back to us for future use. I was a little more than p***** off as this was not the first time we've checked out without the requested discount applied. I was too tired to walk back in to deal with Customer Service as I knew it'd turn into an hour long ordeal. Every time I visit that particular store, with the exception of the greeters, I get passive and apathetic looks and service from the majority of the staff. They just don't give a care. I honestly find it offensive that she just tossed our coupon in the trash without even asking if we'd like it back. Somehow I wonder if she just kept it for herself? Overall, I have decided to use Home Depot to finish the rest of our home improvement projects.

wonderful experience. always greeted by knowledgeable people in every section of the store. really helpful with appliance sales. We bought our washer/dryer previously and had a great experience as well. When we found out we needed a counter depth fridge we looked on consumer reports for good fridges and while the price comparison showed some other locations having lower prices we knew that the service could not be beat by Lowe's, free delivery and instalation, as well as 10% military discount (have to ask "can i have ur military discount?"). Love lowes!

The purchase went smoothly - in store we were helped quickly and the estimator was on time and quick. The installation was done well; however, the installer came without any help. He was still working at our house at 7:30 pm on a Friday evening. We were trying to get out for dinner - it was my husband's last night home before a year-long trip. The installer tried to finish quickly and I know he didn't entirely clean up because we were rushing him. This would have been a perfect experience if there had only been 2 people on the job.

I can't begin to describe how frustrating this experience has been. On July 3rd, my husband and I went to Lowes to buy 24' of fencing to be installed along one side of our house. We knew that we wanted an 8' tall fence with the top of it being lattice. When we arrived at Lowes, we found samples of fencing in front of the store. One sample panel matched what we were looking for, but was only 6’ tall. Aaron Arnold was in front of the store under a tent selling fencing, decks and windows. We explained to him what we wanted and asked if we could get the same fencing that we saw in front of the store in an 8’ height. He went somewhere to check, came back, and told us that this could be done. We set an appointment to have him come to our home. On July 6th, Aaron came to our house to do the measurements to place the order. After looking at the estimate, we agreed to buy the Lowes fence and installation service. Aaron took our credit card number and gave us a contract that said the fence would be installed between 7/12 and 7/19. July 19th came and went without any word from him or anyone else at Lowes. I called Aaron on July 21st to find out what had happened. He said that an installer had been fired for subquality work and that another installer would be doing our job (please remember that we never saw or heard from a first installer). I asked Aaron if he had the materials for the job so that the second installer could complete the work without having to wait for them. Aaron assured me that he had the materials. The “new” installer, Kevin, came to our house on 7/22 to look at what would be needed. I asked if he could complete the job before 8/14 because I have a large number of people arriving at my house for an important weekend meeting that day at noon. He said that he would be out of town on vacation the week of July 26th, but that he would be able to complete the job by August 14th. He said it would probably be on the 13th, but that it would be done on time. I was left with the understanding that I should expect an installer with our fencing on the 13th. On the 13th, when no one arrived to install fencing by 11 am, I called Aaron and received his voicemail. I then called Lowes and spoke with Susie in the installation department. First she told me that we were not on the installation schedule at all and it was because we had not paid for the fencing. I had forgotten about giving Aaron the credit card information so we ended the call with her saying she would leave a message for Aaron. As soon as I got off the call, I remembered having given Aaron the credit card number and I called Susie back. She then tried to explain that we weren’t on the schedule because the installer had been fired and the new installer, Kevin, had not visited the site. I let her know that he had and had given me a date of installation. She said that she had received nothing from him letting her know he’d been there. She would now leave a message for Kevin and either Aaron or Kevin would call me back. I waited two hours and heard from no one. I then called Aaron’s cell and reached him. He started talking to me about how there had been a “miscommunication” - that the wood for the project was "wet" and that if it was installed today we could expect problems with the nails as the wood dried and shrank. He said that, in addition, Kevin was on a job for another store today and could not do the job. We ended the conversation with my asking how he was going to resolve this so that the job could be finished today. I suggested he pull Kevin from the job he was on. (I’ve had many contractors pulled from jobs at my house in the past so I know this is possible.) Also, I reminded him that he had assured me that he had the materials for the job when I spoke with him on 7/21 – I couldn’t figure out why he didn’t have them today. He said he would call Kevin and get back to me. Aaron called me back and by this time it was 3:30 pm. He explained more about the “wetness” of the wood. He said that the wood used by Lowes was not pre-dried and that the wood would shrink and leave ½” gaps between boards because Lowes used stick construction with wet stock lumber rather than panel construction or stick construction with pre-dried fence wood. I reminded him that I had asked when we first came to Lowes whether they had the fence that we saw at the store in an 8’ height and he said that they did. Now, he was telling me that there was no way for the installer to use Lowes materials to make a fence that looked like the sample we saw at the store that we had been told we had purchased. Please remember that no one ever called us to let us know that the fence could not be constructed. Had I not called on 8/13 looking for our installer, I’m pretty sure I would have never received notice that the contract could not be honored. I was desperate, so at this point, I said that if the fencing could be installed by noon on 8/14, I would accept it even if it developed ½” gaps between the boards. He said that he could check with Kevin and get back to me. It is now 8:00 pm and I again have not heard from anyone. This fencing was to be installed outside my sunroom window to block the view into the next door neighbor's yard (an old apartment building with lots of junk visible). I actually pulled vines off of old lattice that had been partially obstructing the bad view in preparation for this new fence installation. Right now, things look worse out my window than when Aaron first came. And, I have 15 business people coming to my home tomorrow. The sunroom is off the dining room - the eyesore will be on display all day. This could have been made right in any number of ways: a. Aaron could have done his homework at the beginning instead of trying to make a sale. First, he was mistaken about the availability of 8’ tall lattice top fencing similar to what we had seen at the store. I have no idea how he could have made this mistake – either it was in a catalog or it wasn’t. Then, he thought it could be constructed, but apparently he was wrong. We would have found another store that could do this for us. b. Thinking further along the path of mistakes, when the “original” installer was fired, someone could have called us to tell us the schedule had slipped. Even better, Lowes could have hired 2 new fence subcontractors to catch up with jobs, one on a temporary basis until the schedule was back on track. I can’t believe that there is no one else out there who can install a fence – it is not brain surgery. c. At the time that the installer determined that a constructed fence using Lowes’ wet lumber would not be the same as panels or pre-dried lumber, we should have been told. We should not have had to initiate the call on the day we expected installation only to find this out. d. Finally, after finding out that we were willing to accept a less than perfect fence, Kevin could have rescheduled his other work and installed our fencing. I still have a contract that I suppose I must find some way to formally end, since it doesn't appear Lowes is going to do it. I don't want someone showing up weeks from now trying to put a fence up. This same salesperson sells windows and decking - beware!

They have a contractor that did the installation and it went perfectly fine. I went online and checked out different ones and decided on the ones I wanted. They gave me samples that I could bring home and put up against what I already have. They did a great job. I thought I needed a brand new screen door, which I ordered. Then the contractor Lowes used called to make an appointment and came out to look at my door. At that time, he told me that they could put a new door in but that the one that was in could be fixed. I was very happy to hear that. Excellent. Wish I had come to Lowe's first! Originally, I was trying to support a more local company (East Coast Appliance) and that didn't work out well, so I tried Lowe's next and I was very happy. My dishwasher arrived when they estimated it would, and I received a rebate for getting the installation. The installer was nice, on time, and did a good job too. Their return policy is reasonable, and with a major appliance purchase that was important to me. Dishwasher is great!

It was just a half effort job on their part and it doesn't take a professional to see it. Around the posts they poured dry concrete and put water on it instead of putting it down in the holes around the posts. The quality of the fence really isn't what I expected and I have used Lowes for some other things here around my home and that s why I was so surprised by such bad work.

Working with Lowe's was easy for us, because we have been there so many times before. The sales people showed us several different models, and suggested the door that was in our price range. We received a discount for installation, because we purchased it there. The two men, who did the installation, were both personable and professional. They finished the task in only two hours. The door has a much better fit than the old one, and has also increased the security for our home. We were very satisfied with the entire process.
Description of Work: Lowe's installed a new decorative front door in our house.
