Paul Harding is the home maintenance person that we use. He put new material on the shed roof but it is still leaking so now they are thinking it is coming through the siding because the house was built in the 1940's. It is really hard to identify. Harding Construction is great. We would totally recommend him to anybody. The cost of the roof repair was $1,000 and the deck was about $5,000. They had to actually raise the deck in the garage and cut a new hole for the door. It was pretty extensive; it was not just putting a deck on the house. It was extensive remodeling of the space and not just remodeling the space but taking a look at what the setup was initially and having that vision of how to make it more accessible. It came out great and it was money well spent. He is our go to guy for pretty much anything. We will call him for small things to see whom we should use. He is a young guy but has done a lot of work on really big homes. He is diligent, ethical and professional. He knows his stuff. His price is extremely reasonable. We have used him a couple of times.
Description of Work: We used Harding Construction to replace the roof on a small shed because it was leaking. It is a cinder block shed that is attached to the house. They also did a deck addition.

We needed a good woodworking contractor and it's too bad now, but we didn't get one with this company. This Contractor initially said his company could finish both of our projects within roughly 5 days. That didn't happen, but then we insisted they rework both our garage and our dormers, after my Wife, Son and I discovered numerous large gaps in nearly every joint this contractor built, after he said he had completed both jobs. For example, he initially left our garage's flying roof rafters gapped upto an INCH at the roof's peak. It was like-wise with our home's dormers. We had to have the contractor rework both our garage and our home's dormer, with a cosmetic fix, to prevent this company from doing anymore damage, as opposed to tearing down his first attempt to complete PROFESSIONAL work. By the time this contractor finished the work to our near complete dissatisfaction, he and we, were happy his company would not return. To our absolute disbelief, the majority of angle cuts he, or his helpers, made on nearly every piece of wood they cut, were curved. All we can imagine is, the person who was cutting the individual wooden planks had no idea how to use a circular saw, or, simply didn't care. PS: though we can't prove it, we also found out after his company left, that we were missing two tools; a brand new power hand tool and a 24 foot extension ladder. Fortunately, we shot dozens of digital photographs of his initial work.
Description of Work: Contractor was hired to remove and replace our entire garage roof, then install new roof rafters, and reshingle with the same asphalt shingle we have on our home. Contractor was also hired to rework our home's 4 small roof dormers. Our home's four dormers needed to have old facia boards removed and new facia boards installed. Most importantly, the dormers needed to be constructed to insure they would prevent squirrel from gaining access to our 3 floor living area and attic spaces. Basically, we required that all ajoining wooden boards were permanently installed to permit "zero gaps" in their joints.

Response from HARDING CONSTRUCTION
The initial time frame of the proposed work was 5 days as stated. However with on setting rain delays where we could not remove the roof, the project duration increased. We then had a delay given by the client that asked us to wait on the dormer portion of the project until almost 2 weeks later. It is not a fair assessment to say that we did not complete the project in a timely fashion. As to the rafters on the garage having large gaps at the peak of the roof where they meet; only the exposed fly-rafters had such a gap. This had occurred due to use of pressure treated lumber that when installed is saturated with moisture and then dries and sometimes has a tendency to shrink as well as the fact of deep overhangs on this structure and the weight of the rafters caused the overhangs to settle some. Once this was brought to my attention and I personally looked at the condition. It was corrected to ensure that settling would no longer occur. We also did $1700 of additional work free of cost for the inconvenience to the client. The trim on the dormers that were spoken about were installed on a 115 degree day and some of the dormers did lack in quality and were corrected to clients satisfaction. When we left, the client was extremely satisfied with the work and spoke with me on doing some additional work around their chimney that was leaking. It was not until the tools that were mentioned came up missing that problems arose. We were not the only people working at that house that had access to the tools mentioned above. I checked with all my workers to see if they accidentally picked up those tools and I checked where we keep the tools to see if they were mistakenly picked up and could not find them. It would be foolish for me to take them as a dissatisfied client could cost me more money in lost business then any amount of tools. I do not do any advertising and all my work is word of mouth. I rely on satisfied clients to further my business which is why we did $1700 of additional work that was not originally contracted. Taking a couple hundred dollars in tools would be a foolish business decision. I spoke with the client about this and he was determined that we did it. I could not do anything further. It pains me as this is the first and only time this type of situation has arisen from any of my clients in the 6 years that I have been in business.
