+ 2 moreThen they said they need a check for $2000 for misc. for a new sink and appliance installation. That should have been part of remodeling the kitchen. They also put in a back door and that should have been part of enclosing the room. There are so many things they ended up charging me for, and we didn't have the deck done. When I had paid them the $44,780, I told them I couldn't do it, they said if you get the money later, we'll come back. I gave him the remainder, and he said on the contract I had paid in full. I had a friend come by and build the deck and he came and said my friend couldn't do it because they had a contract. They tried to charge me for it and I wasn't having them doing it. They said that if I didn't pay the extra $3500 for work they didn't do, they'd put a lean against my mortgage. I didn't know that they couldn't actually do that, but I was scared so I paid them.
Description of Work: Remodeled kitchen, enclosed back porch. We had a contract for $45,000, including the driveway, steps and kitchen. I was about to lose my home, so I took a reverse mortgage. I had a certain amount of money to put into my house to fix it and make it livable. They told me what they could do for that amount. I told them there couldn't be any hidden costs and they agreed. They did the drive and I paid, then the steps. I paid as we went along.
