Saleman was very pleasant and helpful. Assured me the flooring and trim would match. While not an exact match, I am satisfied with the flooring they installed. The trim, however, does not match with the existing at all and they meet in several areas of the house which makes the difference very obvious. We are now going to have to replace the trim in the rest of the house to match. Installers were very efficient and obviously knew what they were doing. They completed all the work in one day and left the area neat. My only complaint was that they did not speak any English which would have made communicating very difficult if any issues had come up during the install. The floors turned out beautifully.

they started at 830 in the morning and ended around 12 that day. they did three of my bedrooms and did them all at the same time. yes my living room and kitchen was crowded because all the stuff in the bedrooms had to go somewhere but they took real good care of the things while they moved it out of the room. they made sure i liked the product and was happy with the installation before they left.
Description of Work: great work and my carpet looks amazing. moved everything out of the room themselves, did not have to move anything out of the room for them to get started they did it all for me which was a big plus on my part. after completion they cleaned up really good and put everything back right where it was. i did not have to make any changes to where things went it was great! carpet looks really clean and great! would recommend this company to anyone, great work!

We really enjoyed our sales rep, Modonna. She checked up on the installation at every phase. Our installation took 2.5 days. Carpet was done on the first day followed by the hardwood in the office and living room. The stairs were done toward the end at our request. The install was very efficient and professional. The hardwood team was very responsive to things we noticed that we didn't think looked quite right. My only complaint obout our installation experience was during the final inspection of the hardwood stage. My wife and I felt very rushed by the installation team. We pointed out some items that we felt the team should have caught on their own. They would fix one item and immediately want us to sign the paperwork. During this process we did mis a very glaring mistake, at this point we have not been able to get it resolved. In the future that hardwood team needs to do a better job during the end of job inspection. My advice would be absolutely do not sign the paperwork until you yourself have done a thorough inspection. July 20th update: We were able to get in contact with an Empire customer service representative and they were able to send our installer out the next day to fix our concerned issue. Empire customer service was very helpful and we are now completely satisfied with our install.

The salesman visited our home, and was completely professional and knowledgeable. He measured the area, gave us a good price, and stayed until all of our questions were answered. The old hardwood flooring that we had in our kitchen was installed poorly by the previous owners, and was becoming a safety hazard and an eyesore. We decided that tile was more appropriate in a kitchen anyway, and Empire had a sale for 70% off. The timing was perfect. We were under the impression that this was going to be a 3 day job, since they had to pull up the old wood, scrape the glue off of the concrete, and then lay tile. When the installers arrived at about 8:00 a.m., they got to work right away. My husband bought them lunch to eat at the house, and the moment they finished eating, they got back to work. In the late afternoon, we all decided that it would be best to continue working until the job was finished. Right around 9:00 p.m. the job was completely finished. The floor looks amazing, and my kitchen didn't have to be held hostage for 3 days. I would definitely use Empire Today again, because their service and price could not be beat!

Salesperson came out the first day I called. We had told her we wanted to get other estimates. Stayed for over 4 hours through the dinner hour. Then offered a "discount" that was only good that night. Again, we told the salesperson that we need more time. After measuring clearance under door with sample of flooring, salesperson said we need to remove the old wood flooring and gave us a reasonable estimate to remove. This swayed us toward the purchase. However, when installers arrived they said don't need to remove and they didn't. They didn't discuss at all the implications of not removing the old flooring and assured us that it would clear. They took the small removal fee off the contract. When it became apparent that it would not clear without scraping our new floors, we were told by the installers, we just had to remove the front and back doors and reinstall a softer seal piece. The floors are now almost even with the threshold so that solution won't work. Now we are left with having to do major work to both of our entry doorways. Also, installer put in boards that totally didn't match. Look like different kind of wood. We had one board removed but could have asked for more. Left smeared glue on the new floor surfaces throughout, which we had them come back and remove but there is still some. So, their answer was to leave us with a "$10" can of remover to take care of the rest ourselves. Minimized all our concerns about the entry door problems. They will never get our business again.

They are not cheap but they are well worth the money because they do a whole lot more. They come to your house and other stores you got to go there and look in their store room and wait until they are done with the first customer and then you ask them three or four questions and the third question they don't have anymore answers for you. This guy they sent from empire no matter what I ask he knew everything. He was very helpful and very nice and he came to the house and would measure the house for you just unbelievable and then they installed the stuff the very next day and they do a next day install you don't have to wait two weeks for them to come. It was the highest price but that's not really something I am upset about.

11/08/2011, Empire sales called at seven thirty to verify there arrival at nine o'clock for installation of the upstairs carpet. Herb and his crew showed up at eight thirty ready to go. by ten oclock they had three rooms were completely removed of old carpet and padding from twenty years of usage, and by 2 pm all rooms were competely finished up.
Description of Work: Madonna Bossa Sales agent for Empire arrived to the house for our free estimated. measuring four upstair bed rooms, hallway and stairs for new carpet. She is very knowlegable and very impressive person to work with, recomending colors and carpet styles for our needs with our little furry kids. Madonna stopped by the job site when clean up was being preformed and took a few minutes to do her walk around and brought us up to see our new rooms. Do items, Have it writen in contract: that all rooms be completely vacumed before padding goes down. home owner would inspect prior to installation process, once removed and ready for padding installation, then prior to laying the carpet.

I was tired of my old nasty carpet downstairs and I wanted to have it replaced, so I called the number I've known since I was a child thanks to their commercials! The salesman that came out was very nice and gave us a lot of great information, but I feel like he talked too much and didn't even show us the carpet samples until about an hour and a half after arriving. The first day of installation was a bust because they had sent out two rolls of carpet from different dye batches so the installer refused to put them together because they didn't match, which was fine by me! The next day the truck was delayed with the new roll of carpet so the install didn't begin until noon. Installation went great on day two but lasted until about 8pm, which was a little irritating but I was much happier having them get it done in one day compared to waiting another! For all of the inconvenience and frustration of those two problems, the woman in charge of the job offered to replace a previously damaged transition into my kitchen for free as soon as she could find a match. Honestly, that made the previous issues melt away and I was very thankful that she offered that to me. They installed the new transition, which wasn't a perfect match to the hard floor but it still went VERY well and was much safer to have there, and it looks fabulous. The new carpeting is incredible and the installers did a good job, but I am not happy with the fact that I can still see a few of the seams. I figure I will give it some time and if they don't get any better, well, I don't know what to do about that! Overall, I am happy with the work that was done and I would definitely use Empire again because I appreciated the way I was treated, the fact that the woman in charge of the job went beyond her contract to fix something extra for me, and the quickness of everything.
Description of Work: Approximately 1000 feet of new carpeting installed with new padding, to include the stairs. Included haul away of old carpet and moving my furniture around for me.

I'm military, and we're transferring next year. We decided to have wood floors installed to make the house more sellable. My wife called Empire after seeing their commercials on TV. Saleswoman was prompt, very nice, and quite knowledgeable. We picked out the floor we wanted, and worked out what we actually wanted done. My plan was to do the stairs myself with solid oak treads and risers, but the saleslady convinced us that doing that would be difficult and more expensive, so we agreed to let them do it. I told them that I would remove the ceramic tile in the hallway and the linoleum in the kitchen installed by the builder 20 years ago,before the installers arrived, rather than have them remove it at $10/sf. She then gave us an estimate that I thought was rather high, but my wife thought was doable, so we signed the contract. She told us that installation would take 2-3 days, and that the crew would take care of moving the furniture. I took an entire day to remove the tile in the hallway, but only finished about 90%, and couldn't get the thinset off the concrete slab. I notified the company, and they said that the crew would do it, and they wouldn't charge us since so much of the work had already been done. A 6-person work crew arrived on time (9 am) on the designated installation day. The crew leader was the only one that spoke fluent English, and she only stayed for about 10 minutes, then left because she had other crews she needed to supervise. The lead installer spoke very limited English, but it was enough to solve any problems. They immediately started tearing out the old carpet and pad, and one worker was assigned to remove the tile and thinset remaining in the hall. He did this with an electric impact hammer, but didn't put up any dust barriers, so dust soon covered everything, including the furniture, which they just moved far enough to work around. Once the carpet was gone, the crew leader started on the stairs, and the others started on the floors. It was raining, so I let them cut in the garage so the floors wouldn't be damaged. About 40% of the floor was completed on the first day, and they left at about 7pm. On day 2, the crew arrived, but with only 4 people this time. The lead installer worked on the stairs, one installer worked on the thinset, and the other two started on the floors. They worked all day and left again about 7pm, with the floors complete, but needing trim. On day 3, we were down to a 2-person crew, the lead installer and one other. The leader worked on the stairs while the other did the quarter-round trim on the floors. The stairs were done by laying the wood floor onto the MDF tread, and using a bull-nose piece on the edge. Because the tread was thicker than the bull-nose, the installed tacked a piece of quarter-round underneath to hide it. This made each step look like it had a double tread. In addition, quarter-round was used to hide the gaps on each step. The crew leader did a great job mitering the trim and finishing it, but the end result was a set of stairs like we had never seen before. My wife was very upset when she saw it. The workmanship on them was great, but it wasn't what either of us thought it would be. The crew leader, who had arrived in the late afternoon and was helping with the final cleanup of the floors, did offer to do whatever we wanted to fix the situation, but in the end we decided to leave them as is. Overall, the floors look great, and they did install them on time, but the price was very high, and we think that the salesperson should have had pictures of other stairs so we could better visualize the end result.

They seemed ok, but they way they told me they were going to do my floor was totally opposite from another company. To me it seemed as if they were trying to get more money from me. I live in a condo, and there are other people in the community that have had their floors done. They were not pushy. They haven't called me and asked me to make a decision. I was expecting them to hound me after I had them come in and give me an estimate. Nobody has called and pushed, and I appreciate that. That would have turned me right off. They were professional and responsive to me. The materials don't look flimsy or anything.

Amazing how fast everything happened! Tuesday evening (Oct 5) I used Empire's website to schedule a free floor measuring for the very next day. My sales rep, Sharon Winn, showed right on time and was ready to address my needs. She established a great rapport right from the start! We toured my house, she identified carpentry issues and offered solutions, she showed many carpet samples (while keeping my decor in mind), and Sharon even had me stand on the carpet with the proposed padding. She was happy to help with financing and answered all my $ questions; she did a phenominal job with ensuring I got the best deal with quality. Sharon was wonderful and I felt very secure to move forward with purchasing. She scheduled next-day installation... WOW! The installers were awesome... easy to work with, very clear on what I wanted and fast. I thought the project would take all day but they had 3 areas done by lunch. While the sales person, Tom, was very punctual and genuinely friendly, it quickly became apparent that I was receiving a sales pitch and not an estimate. I was never given prices for various types and grades of carpet; instead, Tom referred to each as having points on some amorphous quality scale from 1 to 5. In addition to the fact that my "estimate" did not include any prices per square yard or square foot, it also did not include the total square yards/foot that Tom supposedly measured for each of the various rooms. My estimate consisted only of a bottom line figure of approximately $11,000.00 to carpet the upstairs area of my home; no per square yard price, no breakdown of materials, installation, cost per room, etc. When I called Tom to express my concern about the price, I also asked for the specifics upon which the price was based. Tom's price per square yard was over $40 per square yard and his measurements exceeded mine by 50 square yards. There were other aspects of this pitch that rang alarm bells, beside the fact that there was no pricing explanation or breakdown. Tom advised me that I had received a 5% "cash discount", regardless of the fact that I was going to use a credit card to pay. I also qualified for a 20% additional discount (from what, I never knew...) if I agreed to "next day installation," even if the installation was scheduled for a date further into the future. Tom could not explain why such an apparent customer benefit would entitle me to an additional discount, but it was obviously part of the strategy to get customers to close the sale right then and there. I was really disappointed that this sales pitch was so far off the mark in terms of reasonable price. If their price had been at all in the ball park, I would have even agreed to pay an additional reasonable premium for the kind of service they promised. The company's logistics management, production and delivery concepts sound really smart and innovative but their sales pitch really kills it.
