CUTTING EDGE TREE SERVICE

Do not hire this company! I am so disgusted. While it started out great, they left real quick to go work another job in my neighborhood instead of finishing what they were supposed to do. The stump is still there 3 weeks later, the gutters are still full of leaves from the tree (I will take care of those this afternoon), the walkway is still torn apart waiting to be put back together. I have made 6 phone calls to Mr. Jones, all resulting in "I will be there this evening or first thing in the morning". It is followed by "i have been out of town, I have been busy..., etc" My neighbor was impressed with the beginning work that she wanted to hire him as well (before all went downhill). In all of the phone calls i have made, I have asked him to stop by her house to talk about the work. She has also called him 3 times. All times he was a no show to her as well and I was bringing him new business. I have now contacted the local news company, BBB, Yelp and Consumer Affairs to help get the rest of this work done. My neighbor has also seen him in the area working he he was "supposedly out of town". He had no issue cashing my check and running. I had found all good reviews of his business and as I talk to others, i am learning they have heard or gone through the same experience. I am looking at other providers to see how much the remaining work will cost, if this does not get resolved and the bill will go directly to Cutting Edge Tree Service.

First, I would like to caution anyone reading this review: DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. Mr Jones, his crew, and his wife came out and cut down the trees. They trimmed up the remaining tree, but there is still plenty of dead wood on it. They were to come back the next day to grind the stumps. Taking them at their word, I paid them, and they never came back to grind the stumps. I called several times, Mr. Jones promised to come out no less than four times, and never did. Then, he blocked my number. I had to call from a neighbors' phone in order to get an answer. I finally sent an e-mail to the address that was listed on their website. I got the response below from Bonnie Jones on April 4, 2014: "Hello Karen, I do apologize for this taking so long. We had a bearing go out on the wheel of our stump grinder trailer. It is a "patented" bearing so we had to wait for it to ship from Rayco. We just fixed it 2 days ago, and have been trying to get to everyone after the work day is done. David said he will try to get there today. I will remind him. Please send me your address so I can put it on the list. Thank you for you for business & patience. Bonnie Jones, Cutting Edge Tree Service757-333-6391" Please note that the phone number listed in the e-mail is the one that I called until they blocked me. Please also note that I had to send her my address, as they were not keeping up with the work that they had already been paid for doing, but had not done. Sloppy! Also, David never did get there. And he did not get there the next two times that he promised. Today is May 27, and he has not come yet, although he was "trying" to get there on April 4. It is my intention to hire someone to grind the stumps, and then retain an attorney to ask for reimbursement for getting the stumps ground, and for attorney's fees. With the e-mail above, it is clear that they were to grind the stumps, and I should have no trouble getting my money. There are plenty of tree services around. My advice is to choose another one. The price was decent initially, but they did half the job, and I paid the whole amount. So, the price was not so good for half the job. True, I should not have paid them until the work was done, but who wants to treat adults like small children? They should do what they have been paid to do. It is bad business.

We had a few issues with getting everyone started but once they started they were amazing, extremely good at what they do. I would use them again.

Too high priced

They started removing an extremely large oak tree and at the end of the day said they would be back to finish. 1/3 of the tree was still left along with the stump. I paid him in full that day. That was in the beginning March and finally Friday may 10 came back out cut some more of the tree and roll it around the yard but did not remove it from the yard. We have had to call repeatedly to see if he would come finish the job. Only to be asked if we could call him the next morning to remind him. I have never been so disappointed in a company in all of my life. I have a stench in my back yard from the rotting wood, giant holes and my kids can't play out back because of the mess. Now I'm getting estimates of $700 plus dollars to finish the job. That doesn't even include the the yard cleanup.

David was prompt with an estimate and after agreeing on a price he promised to come out no less than 5 times over a 6 week period. Eventually, we advised him we were no longer going to need his services. In all just allot of wasted time on the phone.

David and his crew came out with a crane about 9:00 a.m. on the 4th of July. He and his guys worked hard and fast. Took the tree off the house, cut up and removed all wood and debris and was out of there in 2 1/2 hours! Amazing! He was very courteous and cooperative and the crew did a nice job of cleaning up afterwards.Very professional. I thought the job was a little pricey but he explained the extra charge for the crane rental plus paying his guys extra for working on the 4th of July, so I'm good with that.

I had used these guys before. They work hard and generally move pretty fast, at least from my point of view. I am amazed at how proficient they can cut and haul trees/limbs as if they were never there. On this particular job, David and I had a mis-communication on the time of the job, but this wasn't a big deal. I was expecting them first thing and they weren't able to come til 1pm because they were working another job. I called David at 9am and he let me know they would be coming immediately after lunch. His team came in and worked fast as usual. The pine tree limbs were down first (always fun to watch to climber do his thing). I took it upon myself to walk around and supervise. I made sure all my required areas of stump grinding were done to my liking, and they happily complied, even if it meant a second round of grinding. I appreciated that. They even pulled back a fence to get at an unruly stump and put the fence back. I like David because unlike many other contractors I have worked with, he answers the phone and comes to you same or next day. There's no waiting around. They started work two working days after he gave me the estimate. And they were done in under two hours.

Dave and his crew did a great job and very quick. They were in and out in a couple of hours. Very professional. They cleaned up all the debree and raked the yard. I wasn't there most of the time and they still did a great job. Thanks. I highly recommend them.

After agreeing on a price, they showed up at the appointed time and spent the entire day on the job. We gave them the check after the job was completed and inspected.

They did an okay job. I was hoping that they would have done better. They also were supposed to come back to pick up the branches in the yard, and they never came back. They did not finish the job, and I would not recommend them.

I didnt use thembecause his price was more, but i was very suprized at his attentiveness to my enitial phone call. He was here in what felt like 10 minutes, and i think that deserves credit. He was really professional.

It was great, professional, and they did really good. It looks great, they washed everything and vaccumed. No problems with them. I would recommend them.

David and his crew were professional and did a great job. I was very pleased with their work and would recommend them to family and friends.

They came out promptly to give an estimate - cleaned out dead branches, 'elevated' 5 pine trees, cleaned up the area. Wouldn't even know they were there after their cleanup. Did a professional, expert job. Very pleased with them. They were prompt and worked steadily. I would use their services again and will recommend them highly. Honest and trustworthy, reliable and competent.
