Bill arrived on time and ready to go to work. The house was being inspected for final stage to purchase. Every closet was measured and discussed in detail for what was to be hung, shelving and additional tweaks to the design. Wood was chosen as well as all hardware. Today we learned the house failed inspection. We will still hire Bill for the next new house for closet redesign. He was professional in every way and the kind of vendor that we will always use.
Description of Work: Purchasing a house and needed to all the closets redone; kitchen, master bedroom (2), hallway, two guest bedrooms, storage closet and entry closet.

Description of Work: Bill did an exceptional job on my master bedroom closet. I had 3/4" white melamine installed over a small walk in closet that I painted blue before he started working. He installed a valet rod, belt and scarf rack along with slanted shoe shelving. I also had cubbies built in for folded items. I am so very happy with my closet and would not hesitate for a second to have him come out again. You will get the most for your money if you go with Closet Concepts. Fabulous workmanship and professionalism.

Overall we were happy with Closet Concepts. We identified 3 areas of the house where we wanted work performed and Bill emailed us drawings and gave us a quote. This gave us ideas for a 4th area of the house (hallway closet) and Bill was nice enough to come out to our house a second time and provide drawings and a new quote on the spot. I made small modifications after spending a few days thinking about the projects. Bill sent an email reminder a few days ahead of time. He showed up on time with his helper on the install day. The install took about 8 hours. There were several pieces that were damaged by the manufacturer, so we had to schedule a final install date a couple of weeks later. Overall Bill was professional and I would work with him again. TIPS: For future jobs, I may remove any preexisting shelving myself, patch the holes then paint the area. It is much more time consuming to paint walls or over spackle with the new shelving in place (this only applied to the master closet). Also, the cabinets and toy storage came with less shelving inserts than I expected which is something I never thought to ask about. Bill ordered me new shelf inserts at about $10/sqft and delivered them when he came back to install the damaged parts.
Description of Work: Provide new shelving for Master bedroom walkin (6'x8') closet, hallway closet and toy storage for playroom. Install 2 cabinets over countertop in bedroom. All existing hardware removed and holes in walls patched.

Bill/Closet Concepts was excellent. After I first called we set an appointment for a free consultation the next day. I showed him the spaces I wanted work done, outlined the very vague ideas I had, and he made excellent suggestions for features and design. The next day he sent a custom CAD drawing of what we had discussed. We went back and forth for a few days making the slight changes that I wanted. Bill was very patient, even when I couldn't make up my mind, and always sent a revised drawing. Once I was ready to proceed, we set an installation date. On that day, he and his builder showed up on time and worked hard to make sure the projects were completed that day. There were 2 custom pieces that had come in slightly damaged (a couple of nicked corners). It was so small I might not have noticed, but Bill alerted me to this and told me he had already ordered new pieces. He finished the installation using the pieces so we could use the closets right away and came back a few weeks later to swap them out. The only point where I gave Closet Concepts a "B" was responsiveness. While Bill answered ALL emails and calls promptly, I would have preferred receive a confirmation call the day before service. Overall, everything was excellent and Bill was professional, responsive and offered a quality product at a fair price. Certainly will be using Bill again in the future!

Bil provided several good designs and was patient while we considered our options over several weeks. Once we decided, we worked out a date and the installations were done in time and very efficiently. After we used the pantry a few weeks we realized we could have used another shelf. After calling Bill, I was able to get an additional shelf and make it fit our needs even better. I would be happy to work with him again.

It went perfectly: Total cost was well below other estimates. Bill was very professional in all aspects of the service. Quality product was installed on time and on budget. Bill listens to you and gives you what you want. Bill will give you professional advise on your plan without trying to sell you additional enhancements that you probably don't need. He is not done until you are completely satisfied with the product and installation. We highly recommend Closet Concepts, Norfolk, VA.

After seeing the other good reviews of Closet Concepts, we decided to give them a try. We just moved into our home and badly needed the master bedroom closet reorganized. Initial meetings with Mr. Baker were good. He quoted us the price up front and provided us with some drawings of what the closet would look like. However, it took a couple requests to get the drawings. We had a scheduled install date, and when we confirmed this date, Mr. Baker told us it would actually be two days, one day for demo, one for installation. Not a huge deal, but we had some schedule rearranging to do to make this happen. Mr. Baker's associate arrived on demo day and removed old shelving and closet pieces, mudded and sanded the walls. Where shelves and previous closet parts were removed left indentations in the wall, markings, and what looked like cardboard exposed. Our mud room which we were also having redone looked the same. They proceeded to install the closet system the next day and all the ugly wall marks were left as is and large areas of chipped dry wall and unfinished wall were left. Mr. Baker stated that most of his clients didn't mind because clothes would be in there anyway. After paying thousands, I highly doubt anyone would be happy with how the walls looked. Had we known they weren't going to mud and sand properly, we would have done it ourselves in between demo and installation, but they never told us this. My husband ended up doing this himself anyway and then painting the entire closet. In the end, the closets are not great. Some things just don't make sense, like why the shelves don't extend closer to the edge of the wall or to the top of the ceiling. There's a big crack in one of the pieces, it took weeks to get a door that arrived in the wrong color and then arrived damaged and had to be reordered. I also didn't appreciate Mr. Baker's lack of professionalism around my house. The garage door was open while his associate was removing old closet parts. Mr. Baker arrived later and just walked in my garage and into my house! I have a front door with a door bell. Then his associate left for lunch and he followed shortly after and left my garage door open, front door unlocked, and never even let me know he was leaving. He did this on the final day of install too. He was done and just left the house. Didn't even say anything, or ask me to look at the finished product. He said he couldn't find me. Well, I was upstairs with my child. I don't think he looked or called. I had to end up calling him to ask what the deal was. I don't think someone who takes pride in their work just slips out of your house when they're done. Closet Concepts charges a high price for mediocre work and finished products.

Response from Closet Concepts
First, I must apologize because this installation did not go as smoothly as I would have liked. I would like to address the issues listed. The walls were rough at first. We always fill the holes and spackle after demolition, but these walls were particularly bad. The builder had not skimmed the drywall at all, so in some spots the paper came up. Neither I nor the customer realized this was the case initially because you couldn't tell. When they said they were unhappy, I asked what I could do, which was to skim the walls. I came back as soon as I could and skimmed every wall and then came back the following day and sanded them for painting. The customer did paint, which is a not something that we do. Most customers are fine with the holes filled, but I understand in this case that it needed more. As for the shelves not extending to the absolute corner, we generally stay about an inch from the corner, it just looks better. This was illustrated in the drawings and could have been changed if they had specified that they wanted it done differently. I'm going to contact them about the cracked piece and it will be replaced. Our closets carry a lifetime warranty to the purchaser and that would certainly be a warranty issue. The door situation was unfortunate, but occasionally things happen. The doors did arrive in the wrong color and the replacements were damaged in shipping. The correct color undamaged doors were installed. I also am sorry that I didn't ring the bell after work had started. Normally, once the job is started and workers are on the premises, we come and go, in and out many, many times while there. We left the garage open and front door unlocked because we were coming right back to work. I didn't want to leave without checking, but I truly could not find the customer. I assumed she was upstairs with the baby, but didn't want to interrupt if she was putting him to sleep. I did walk up the stairs, but again, I didn't want to make noise. Our prices are competitive and often lower than other closet companies in the area. I also gave them a military discount and upgraded the rods at no charge. All of our materials are top quality, which is why we offer the lifetime warranty. We take closet building seriously, but sometimes situations arise that cause it to take longer than it should, as was the case here. I value every customer and try my best to provide a positive experience from design to installation as well as in service. In the end, all I want to do is make the customer happy.

Bill Baker was extremely helpful with ideas and designed for the estimate. The pantry was installed on the expected date within the estimated time without any delays or issues. Sometimes it is difficult to get off work, and the timeliness was appreciated. The area was cleaned after the installation. The final product was exactly what we asked for.

We contacted Bill Baker at Closet Concepts in January to customize our large master walk in closet. He was extremely punctual, and provided an estimate immediatley. He followed up the following week and included detailed drawings. He was very accommodating and we were so impressed with his recommendations. The day of the install, he was punctual, and completed the work that day with a helper. After the install he was not happy with one of the tops on a dresser, and wanted to add a top to a shelf. He told us he would order the pieces and be back in two weeks to complete the changes/upgrades. We would have been perfectly happy with the original build, but love the changes even more. He said he knew we would be happier, and that is why he insisted on the changes. He also did not charge us extra! My husband asked if he could extend the valet rod, and he made and adjustment that looks and works great. Bill Baker is very knowledgeable, and stives for complete customer satisfaction. It was a pleasure doing business with Bill Baker at Closet Concepts, and we would highly recommend him and his company.

Awesome. I spent a LOT of time trying to find a solution for an unusual space. It had be something that I could but linens in and since the washer and dryer are located in the room over the garage that serves as a home office, it had to store office supplies and cleaning equipment too. I looked a a lot of places that built cabinets, but they focused on kitchen and bathroom and were a bit too cookie-cutter and traditional versus the clean look I was seeking. Besides, none of them had the size that I was looking for - 98"W x 19"D x 95"H. I finally found a place in VA Beach, but I couldn't believe how much the guy wanted. It was pure chance that I discovered Closet Concepts. I stopped Bill when I saw his truck at the post office. I'm sure he thought I was crazy when I ran up to him at the mailbox! I told him what I was looking for and asked if it was something he could do. He came out the next day, took measurements, offered some suggestions as to a better look and fit and a number of colors. He submitted a quote the next day. It was almost HALF the price of the guy at the beach! (I later found Bill even had a higher grade product.) He installed on the day he said he would, arriving on time and cleaned up everything when he left. I'm happy to finally have a storage space that multi-tasks like the room that it's in! Definitely a good experience.

I had worked with this company before and was very pleased with the experience. Bill Baker, the owner, personally showed up to provide the quote. While sticker shock can sometimes be an issue with custom cabinetry (as it was the case here), I knew that I wasn't able or going to find anything close to what was originally in the garage at any of the big box stores or online. I also knew his pricing was a bit less that other closet businesses.Mr. Baker was even willing to offer small changes that would get the pricing lined up to where I needed it to be. I was impressed with how promptly he followed up with schematics and a quote. He provided an installation date about four weeks away (to align with the completion of the garage reconstruction), but was actually able to start earlier so that I could get my garage back functional. When it came time to install, even though his assistant was ill, he arrived on time each morning to build and install them himself. I know that given his obligations of meeting with customers, providing quotes , building and installing he has a full plate, but nonetheless I found him to be focused, quietly efficient, pleasant and easy to deal with. The cabinets look awesome. They are very well done and my garage looks the best it ever has.
Description of Work: I had to have two walls of custom cabinets replaced (5 cabinets - each cabinet measuring 84" X 48") in my garage.
