Tim was on time and did my inspection even though it was raining. Lucky for me he did, because it was the start of about 6 days in a row of rain, and there was a leaky spot that needed attention. He caulked the leak at no extra charge and even removed some debris from my gutters. He was done in about 20 minutes. Took plenty of photos to show me the situation. Said my roof was in good shape, which I appreciated because I'm no expert and he could have sold me on repairs that weren't necessary. He is a fair man, worked efficiently and was a pleasure to deal with. I'd use him again in a flash.

the schedule day for the service was a very raining day. i had scheduled some other outside work which had been re-scheduled due to the rain. i called tim at lakewood builders to try and reschedule but tim told me he was still coming out, that he had waterproof caulk and was ready to get the work done. tim came over at the scheduled time and went up on the roof. he came back down shortly and told me my roof is in very bad shape and needs to be replaced. he told me i have more nails popping thru the shingles than he could have possibly caulked under this 'big deal'. he then showed me pictures he took of my roof and the nails popping thru and places where the ridge cap shingles were being torn away by animals. he then proceeded to attempt to sell me a $17,000 lifetime roof, or if i didn't want the lifetime roof he could do a standard asphalt roof for about $16,000. now i have a pretty standard approx 2000 sq ft fairfax county split level home. no idea how many sq ft of roof but it is not a large or complicated roof and this seemed like a very high estimate. i thanked him for his time and for coming out in the rain and he left. when the rain stopped over the weekend i took the opportnity to go up on the roof myself and check things out. there was not a single fresh bit of caulking up there, no nail heads covered, no pipe collars resealed no anything. i looked around a bit more and there was no damage to any of the ridge cap shingles on any of the ridges and i didn't see the vast number of nail heads wearing thru the shingles as had been described and supposedly photographed. the roof is old and there are nail heads wearing thru the roof but they weren't everywhere and none of them had any caulk on them. i know tim did not caulk any nail heads as he said he did and he sure didn't reseal the one pipe collar that clearly needs it. i have serious doubts that it was even my roof in the pictures he showed me. i know it was raining but i had planned on rescheduling, he insisted on keeping the appointment in the rain. i feel this was a total waste of money and wish i had my money back. this was just me paying $149 for him to give me an estimate on a lifetime roof i didn't ask for. i am very disappointed and would not use this contractor again. UPDATE: the owner of the company called me. He told me he was sorry I had a bad experience with his company and was going to refund my entire 'big deal' amount. While I am disappointed at how this went down I understand nobody is perfect and certainly no company is. The owner's personal call and offer to refund my money is a good way handle this situation. i will certainly give this company another try when i have another roofing need.

We were looking for someone to replace our roof and if that went ok, the windows and other needed repairs in order to get our townhouse of 19 years, ready to put up for sell. My wife, called Tim Johnson on Friday Oct. 11. Mr. Johnson was currently on the porch of another location, waiting for another customer to answer their door but told her he could talk till they answered. She had questions regarding square footing of the roof, which he politely answered. He gave her a quote for our size townhouse for roof replacement. The owners of the house of the location he was at were coming to answer the door, so he quickly gave her his email and told her to email him. She said he was pleasant. We felt good about the quote and had hopes of repairs finally being done. We did not hear back from Mr. Johnson, it was the weekend, so my wife called on Mon. 10/4, midday. Mr. Johnson, again pleasant and polite set up an appointment for a roof inspection on Wed. 10/16 at 7:30 a.m. My wife told him the quote sounded good and if the roof went well, there would be window replacement and other work because we wanted to put our house on the market. This was a date and time that Mr. Johnson picked (with my wife's agreement) and even though my wife is not a morning person, she was glad to have an appointment and looking forward to things moving ahead. Wed, Oct 16 7:30 a.m. no show Wed. Oct 16 apx 12:30, Mr. Johnson calls and my wife answers. He tells her he is going to be at our house at 1:00 p.m. My wfie then asks "where were you, it was suppossed to be 7:30". Mr. Johnson said something to the effect "did I miss you, how did I miss you". He then apologized and told her he would be there at 12:48 p.m. My wife goes ahead and agrees, but certainly does not feel good about the situation. She then called me and we discussed it, and we decided for her to call Mr. Johnson back to let him know that because of what occurred, that we would look for another contractor. So when she called him back, (hadn't arrived at our house yet), she said that we didn't feel good about the situtation and asked him how could he forget. Mr. Johnson then said at 7:30 a.m. " I was at the Home Depot arguing about cabinets for another customer". He then told her he had his phone turned off and the calendar did not remind him about her appointment. He said something to the effect "things happen". She then asked him what was going on from 7:30 - 5:30 (that she couldn't be contacted). That he really didn't have an answer for. Our house is our largest investment. There is going to be some major work and likewise some major money in repairs. We have wanted to move for a long time and finally at the point that we are now. We decided to look for someone else. I am responding to this statement he made in his rebuttal: Had you needed to cancel for some unknown reason, would it have been fair for me to get on line and drag you across the coals? No ,But then again you wouldn't have been paying us. The difference is that we would be paying you! I am really glad we did not hire you. Pathetic!

The inspector came on time. However, the first thing he told me that there is an additional $100 charge because of the pitch of the roof. I was shocked since I purchased the voucher from Angie's list for $149 for full roof inspection and minor repair. I thought I was getting a good deal. He showed me the fine line in the voucher.that says there is an additional charge for a certain roof pitch and did not state how much is the additional charge. Houses in Virginia have the same pitch, I thought that was a con artist gimmick for people to buy the voucher. So buyer beware before buying this deal. As far as workmanship, I do not think he thoroughly inspect our roof. At first I do not think he will go to the roof until he realized that I was watching him. So he decided to get a longer ladder that will allow him to get up to the roof. There are other areas in the roof that he did not inspect; the roof on the back of the house and the roof over the garage. He inspected the roof on the front porch only when I mentioned it to him. He found a missing plywood underneath the shingles above the bedroom upstairs above the porch. He told me that to email him about it and he will give me a quote and get a roofer to get it repaired. I emailed him as instructed but he never responded. He also told me that one of the vent pipe has a gap and that needs flashing and he just caulked it. Installing a flashing is a minor repair that should have been included in that voucher. Recaulking makes it worst since now it was leaking like crazy. This contractor is more concern about his profitability than customer satisfaction since he kind of expressed that to me. I am updating this review just to respond to the provider response dated 10/14/2013. You came to my house, at your convenience, on time because you wanted the roof inspection completed and get paid. The "F" for responsiveness is for not returning emails and calls I made to you. You even promised me that you will send me the photos that you took which I never received. I have waited and waited for your email or call for the promised qoute so I can get the roof fixed. I could have gotten that roof fixed before the weeks of rain arrived and avoided additional costly repairs. If what you stated the seal that you made to the gap in the vent pipe collars is a long lasting repair, then why did it leaked like crazy during the rainy days late last summer after you sealed it? You should be thankfull that I gave you an overall Grade of "C" out of the goodness of my heart and not the "F" that you truly deserve (refer to the review dated 10/17/2013 by another dissatisfied customer). 02/14/2014 I am reconsidering my Review and changing the Overall rating from "C" to "F".

One of the owners of Lakewood came out to inspect my roof. I purchased a $100 roof inspection, but within the first 10 minutes I was told the inspection would cost $200 because the roof was "too steep." The owner said this stipulation was spelled out in the original coupon; however, I do not recall seeing this exception. Overall, the work was completed quickly and professionally. Lastly, I talked to the owner about having Lakewood possibly do some additional work in my backyard. However, I never heard back from Lakewood with an estimate for the additional work I was interested in having completed. Very disappointing!

inspection and then repair were done promptly with a good job. matched shingles to be repaired even though i did no have the name of the shingle manufacuturer.

He was fast, He went up to the roof for more than 20 minutes but I don't what he was doing. They indicate that the roof on my porches in front my of house need a repair which we already knew.

Professional, knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with. I hired this company because of a deal on Angie's List for roof inspection, but they are builders. We also discussed possible kitchen renovations.

Tim was professional, did a thorough job and I was satisfied by the work and the overall assessment of my roof.

They came and a very interesting guy went on the roof and took pictures. They were pretty nice, Tim Johnson. They didn't push. He fixed the small leak and said that we can wait till it rains to see if it is fixed. He sent me a proposal and was not pushy at all.

Mr. Johnson found fewer problems than I was expecting, and said that we won't need a new roof for a couple of more years. We do need to have some repairs made, however - new vent pipes installed and shingles pulled up and replaced in one section where the plywood has buckled. I asked him to look at one corner of our roof where I feared that squirrels had entered. He found that the squirrels had actually eaten through the end cap of our gutter and our aluminum rake board - quite a feat! Mr. Johnson also found that the gutter had pulled away from our house because it had been secured incorrectly. He took photos of all of the problems and has agreed to send me more detailed information about the work that needs to be done so that I can contact the gutter helmet company. I was very pleased with his professionalism and honesty. He was honest about the repairs that could be made economically, and didn't try to "sell" me a new roof. I plan to employ him again to complete the roof repairs he has suggested, and recommend him highly.

I chose Lakewood builders after I had 4 other contractors look at the job. John took his time to look over the job , where others were in and out. His team got started and did the most impressive painting job. My husband who is very meticulous was very pleased. All rooms were painted, trim on the stairs was completely redone, which was painted poorly by the original builder in 2007. The damage in the ceilings was repaired as well. John and his team had found problems with how the bathrooms were put in. The crack in the master shower was due to the concrete underneath the tiles not being mixed correctly so part of the floor turned to sand. The other shower had a pipe that was put in with a hairline crack. We so appreciated John and his team for their expertise. We also had a bathroom put in the first floor and it was done so quickly and so well. The front entrance was painted as well. My husband and I were so happy with Lakewood Builders they are everything you want in a contractor. Expertise, talent, personable, professional and really nice to boot!

First, the small problem area was not fixed as expected, but glued which did not help at all. Second, it seemed to me that reviewing over all the roof was his primary interest of visit with having taken some pictures and then never send to me the email with the pictures that he promised. I waited two weeks, called first time and he was so busy and then called him twice. Now, after a month, saying sorry for delay, he sent the email with just an estimate without pictures at all.

Tim Johnson showed up in 48 hours on a Saturday to patch a hole created by animals. I was out of town and Tim did the work on a promise to pay by invoice. At a time when he was fully booked he did the work on an emergecy basis. He is very service oriented.

Tim worked quickly and thoroughly. He showed me a picture of a trouble area he found and then a picture of the fix he provided for it. I would use him again.

Got a call about a week after I purchased the big deal asking if he could come out the next day. I could not be home, but my sister-in-law could be there. He showed up and did the work. He replaced a missing shingle for me and said he sealed up a couple holes.

Excellent. One word says it all.. The roof installation was done on one of my properties. I must mention Tim, who did the job and did it very well. Very professional and no pressure. We are so happy with the workmanship from start to finish, site preparation to cleaning. Good quality material. I highly recommend Lakewood Builders and will use their services if I need them. One more thing: all communication was done either by email or by phone. I have never met Tim in person. And no, we are not related.

They were easy to deal with for scheduling and showed up on time. They inspected the roof and caulked the areas that needed caulking. My roof was in decent condition so their trip was quick and I did not need any follow up. Professional and pleasant to work with. I would contact them again for a quote if I had additional work that needed to be completed.

Tim arrived early in the morning as promised, identifying himself and provided a business card. He asked if I had any pressing/current issues with the roof, such as leaks, and explained what he was about to do. He took pictures of the condition of the shingles to show me the amount of deterioration. He explained in detail why the shingles were stating to deteriorate and the approximate time left before they would begin to fail causing leaks. While on the roof he caulked area where needed and made minor repairs. Tim informed me that the roof was in good shape, but was showing it's age and I should consider replacing the roof within the next year or so. He was very professional and good natured and a pleasure to deal with (sorry for the encounter with our dog!!!). I will certainly consider using LAKEWOOD HOME BUILDERS, INC when its time to replace the roof. Thanks again.

Tim showed up on time and explained what he would be doing during the inspection and minor repair. He inspected the roof and found some problem areas with missing shingles and shingles that were installed incorrectly from another roofing company I had previously used for repairs. He quickly fixed the problems and showed me the pictures he took while he was on the roof. They will definitely be on the top of my list for any future needs!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. We played some phone tag. When he came out to the house, I wasn't there. He said he really wanted to get the work done before the end of August because the deal was ending. I would have preferred to be there. He took a couple of pictures when he was up there. Overall he addressed my concerns about there not being any issues with my roof. I followed up with him by email because he had followed up by email and I never got a response to one of my questions which was a follow up on something he had noticed. He was professional and relatively responsive. I don't know if I would use him again. They were good enough but they weren't great.

The contractor contacted me quickly and offered up a date that worked for me and him. I was not home when the contractor performed the service, but I knew they had come because a card was left in my door. I also received a phone message telling me my roof was in good shape and with the minor fixes to a couple of shingles they had done it should last for years. The problem with roof repairs is you don't really know if they were successful until the next big rain. The caulking on the door overhang was a beneficial surprise -- I hadn't considered that part of the roof. It was well done--neat and clean. The contractor also let me know that while on my roof he had noticed some problem areas on my neighbors roof. All my communication was via phone and I found the contractor to be professional and polite. I appreciated the promptness of the phone messages and the lack of a hard sale in the conversations.

Mr. Tim Johnson was very easy to work with. It was not necessary to be home for the inspection as Mr. Johnson provided pictures and detailed information about the repairs he did. He responded quickly to my phone calls and texts. I definitely recommend Lakewood Home Builders for roof repairs.
