My husband and I moved into a house where the people who did our master bathroom shower (tile on both shower wall and floor) did an awful job. Once my husband and I started taking showers, the grout started to come up. We found "Grout Works" on Home Advisors where they have a 4.6 review rating. So we thought we were getting professionals who actually knew what they were doing. We called Grout Works and had them come out to take a look at our shower a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving 2018. We liked their estimate and with a 4.6 review rating we thought we'd finally be able to use our shower again. We were told we had to wait until after Thanksgiving, because they didn't have the right grout and color for our shower and had to order it. Although, we hadn't used the shower for a week and a half (we were using the hall bathroom shower), two or three more weeks wouldn't be a problem, because we wanted it done right. A week after Thanksgiving, they came to fix the shower (a man and woman) and instructed us not to use it for 24 hours. My husband and I waited 48 hours to ensure the grout was set and dry. Two weeks later, not even a month in, my husband and I noticed the shower floor was "squishy" and every time we stepped on the middle tile water would ooze out. We didn’t even have that problem BEFORE they did the work. We called "Grout Works" and they came out to recheck the work. We were informed that they would NOT be able to fix the problem and suggested we give the contractor they work with a call to fix it, then they would come back out to grout. Really? At that same time my husband was informed that “Grout Work” had this same problem previously with another client, and they ended up having to give them back their money, because they weren’t able to fix the issue. Hearing that, and since we had a warranty we requested our money back. We were told we needed to look at the warranty that stated if the floor was wet the warranty wouldn’t be honored. Hmm, first off, we hadn't used our shower in almost 4 weeks. We even put a heater in the shower for a few days, the first week we discovered we were going to need someone to come out. Second, if there was water under the tile when the “professionals” did the work, why wouldn’t they tell us they wouldn’t be able to complete the job? After a couple of calls, we were offered a portion of our money back, but the owner told us…”I’m being generous doing that.” We were left with the same problem and a few dollars lighter. Worst company we ever worked with!

Very good job. My wife and I were very pleased. It loomed like a new shower stall. The hard to clean spots were dealt with and the tile and new grout looked great and we were thrilled. Don came and gave us a reasonable quote. His son, Charlie, and his helper did a quick but thorough job. All very timely, personal, and professional.

Very well organized and efficient! First visit was an estimate. Arrived on time and very professional. Returned a few days later with helper to complete work. They cleaned up once repairs were finished. He gave me paperwork on care and cleaning. I am very satisfied...the shower looks new!

They completed a floor, bathtub, and wall grout cleaning/restoration job in our bathroom. They got something on our chrome bathtub faucet controls and lower water spout that stained/tarnished the finish. They indicated that had never happened to them before. They advised us to use a couple of products to remove the stains. This did not work. They came back out to remove the stain to no avail. They also got something on our baseboard heater housing that cause it to rust. This was after we had just repainted it a week before as per their instructions. |This job was done with an apparent lack of care for our property.

Don and his son were very friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the service they provided was not to the level of quality we would have preferred, and we ultimately had to hire another company to re-do the work. I will say that the grout coloring itself, which I think is their primary business, came out very nicely; our issue was with the other work they performed. On their first visit, Don and son replaced two broken tiles with tiles we supplied. They also removed and repaired chipped and crumbling grout from around about 6 tiles in the same bathroom. Finally, they colored the grout in the entire bathroom, so that the repairs would not be visible. When they initially arrived, we had informed them of the time we needed to leave (several hours later) to pick up a child at school. They said it should not be a problem - but in the end, I do think the time crunch created issues, because at the end they did have to rush to finish. Ultimately, the issues we had included: 1. The tiles they replaced were not completely set when they grouted, and we could feel them move when we walked on them the next day. 2. The grout was not set when they colored it, so it would deform with the touch of a finger even days later. 3. The bead of caulk they laid around the walls and shower was.. well.. sloppy. To their credit, they did come back without charging when we raised concerns, and tried to fix the problem - but the caulk was still not up to our expectations and the grout was still soft. We considered calling Don to come back a third time, but instead opted to hire a different contractor, who did do a nice job. I very much assume they would have come back if we called again, and may even have offered a partial refund, but we did not want to put them in that position. I do think some of the blame lies with us putting them on a time crunch, though I wish they would have said something so we would have known the time we had allotted was not sufficient, and rescheduled (or done it on separate days, as our second contractor did). Also, I do think they are very good at grout recoloring, but I don't think they are quite as expert at tile replacement and grout repair (eg - I believe the tile replacement and grout repair probably should have been done on different days to allow for drying, but they tried to do on same day; also, they did not warn us to stay off newly replaced tiles). I hate leaving negative reviews for people I liked, because I did like Don and his son, and would not hesitate to hire them for grout recoloring again; I just probably wouldn't use them for tile replacement.

On time, polite and responsive to my wishes. Had to come back next day for tough ups. Called the morning after and he was here in the afternoon after finishing a job in Williamsburg. Willing and helpful in completely job.

Arrived precisely on time, worked neatly, did a few extra spots that needed repair, friendly and honest.
