EASTERN FLOOR COVERING

Initially, Steve, the owner of Eastern Floor Covering, provided an in-home detail costs estimate for the entire installation process, item-by-item, with a cost associated with each item. He also included some suggestions of padding products that he found worked best, through his many years of flooring, like (tucking the carpet under each step a little more cost for installation , and a little pricier step padding . His suggestion turned out to be right on target. The final end product was super spectacular. Waking on the steps feel like walking on a cloud. Much better than I anticipated. Both sets of stairs never looked that good. Regarding the installation process: It went like everyone hopes it would go, but never does. A date and time was chosen from a group of available days and times; The lady in the store phoned the day before to remind me of the installation date and time window, the process was started within the time window that I selected, The installers were polite and friendly and understood that I needed to get to my upstairs office during the day. The cleanup process was above par. The removal of the old carpet was quick and the broom was used several times during installation. What a well organized carpeting replacement system! My hat is off to you Steve and your crew.

This was the second time we used Eastern Floor Covering and they were excellent both times. Very responsive, always on time, and the floor looks great.

Wonderful. I was home the day the kitchen was done by installer David and his helper. They were so good and trustworthy that I specifically requested David and his team 2 weeks later when it was time to do the carpet upstairs. I was so confident of their work that I agreed to delay my carpet installation to a different day just so I could have David and his team do the work. I felt no need to be there during the carpet installation. I came home that evening just as they finished and found all furniture back exactly in place, new carpet vacuumed, compete clean up everywhere and a beautiful carpet in place. I do want to include the salesman, Neil, who worked really, really hard to get me a price that I could afford without compromising on the quality that I required. We met several times in person and he followed up with multiple phone calls as we completed selections of materials and worked on the budget. I don't think Neil made much of a commission on this sale. His measurements were incredible! I had only a couple of pieces of the kitchen floor and just enough carpet leftover to have a bound rug made for the front door. Amazing how accurate his measurements were so I did not pay for or have any overages of material. Neil is in the Newport News office and Dave works for Eastern as an independent contractor (I think that is accurate) I am 100% satisfied with my choice of Neil, who went above and beyond to meet my needs and budget, and feel fortunate that David and his team were assigned to my job. I cannot recommend salesman Neil, installer David and his team enough. Utilize Neil and ask for David to install if you have carpet/vinyl needs. You won't be sorry.

I had hard wood installed in my bedroom upstairs and the hallway and down the stairs, their installer that they apparently contract with came and when the flooring was brought in he said well it's going to be a week and then he come back and do the flooring so when he came back he started the flooring and looked at the stairs and there was a problem with him being able to do the stairs and it ended up that there were huge gaps at the top at the side rails going up the stairs and they had cut out part of the wood and just left big holes in two of my walls, they totally destroyed the door frame on one of the doors going into the bedroom the wood was cracked all to pieces. Well they gave me these song and dance about the stairs because they had carpet on it and thy weren't built to have wood done on it, it should have been redone and then the wood stair threads put on.

On time - quick install. Very pleased.

I would use them again. They were recommended by a friend. They are punctual. They are nice. They know what they are doing.

A representative from Eastern Floor Covering scheduled a time to come to the house to take measurements of what we wanted done. We selected the tile for the floor. He arrived at the scheduled time and provided us with an estimate that included removal of floor coverings and the purchase and installation of the tile within a couple of days. We were contacted within a couple of days and given a date for the start of the project. The crew who came to remove the floor coverings and install the tile were on time. The crew were professional and polite. The furniture and appliances were moved and put back at the end of the job. The tiling was done in stages so we could go in and out of the house. We were without our ground floor bathroom for the week because they had to remove the toilet to install tile. The ground floor of our house is made up of many angles and is quite large. The whole process took a week but the result is excellent. The whole experience from the initial contact to the finished project was hassle free. My husband and I are so impressed with the quality and professionalism of the Eastern Floor Covering team that we will be going there to have the carpeting on our stairs and upstairs hallway replaced.

Steve Ward is very personable and gave his honest opinions during the estimate. He was knowledgeable and helpful. The install crew were on time, courteous, and did a perfect job. They went above and beyond paying attention to detail and even vacuumed for us.

Measurement, installation, moving furniture was done all timely, professionally and with smiles. It looked great and furniture was moved back in.

They arrived about 1 & 1/2 hours past the appointed time. Paul was very professional and did a great job installing the new floor. Molding re-installation was a little sloppy, left some things undone and some not well done.

The job was a hard install on concrete floors but their installers came in and got the job done in a very efficient manner.

Very professional from original purchase decision, measuring, and installation. Our salesman, Chip, was especially helpful. The installation crew arrived on time, removed old carpet, and did an excellent installation. We will definitely contact Eastern Floor Covering when we replace the carpeting in the upstairs bedrooms and hallway.

I've been using eastern for 15 yrs for all my flooring needs. I always check the big box stores but Eastern's prices are same or better & their work is excellent. I'll always use & recommend them in the future!

Chip showed up on time when he came to the house to give me an estimate. He brought up a lot of little details that I hadn't thought about. He got back to me within a couple of days with an estimate. They fit me in to the schedule rather quickly and Neal showed up on time as promised. He ran into a couple of issues so the job took a little longer than they first anticipated, but he was able to take care of the problems that were encountered. I couldn't be happier with the end result; Neal did a phenomenal job!!! I would highly recommend them and will definitely use them again in the future!

The gentlemen were prompt, courteous and efficient. After the job was completed, they asked us to inspect their work and thanked us for our business.

Excellent job! On time and on budget

I wrote a glowing letter to Eastern in October 2008. However, my opinion has changed. The amount above is for vinyl in a small guest BR, about 10.5 X 11 which, in retrospect and comparison was too much. The room required two skim coats according to Keith. Within three years, the floor began to sound like someone walking on a pond in spring with ice cracking underfoot. When I mentioned it to a contractor friend, he said either the skim wasn't put down correctly, or was of poor quality. The vinyl is ruined with raised lumps. The room is unusable except for storage. I don't have the money to have this room re-vinyled at this time. The other BR that only required one skim coat is fine. That is why the rating isn't an "F". At this time I require flooring in a larger room and am looking at other companies.

On time, made quote. Quickly refined quote as I changed details of job (3 times). Did work quickly and as promised - goo job.
