Criner Remodeling was one of 6 estimates I eventually received. I first contacted them in April 2012 via their website. In July I received a postcard, which may or may not have been a mass mailing. I called them again in September after the contractor I had selected had a conflict and could not do my job as scheduled. A Criner salesman returned my call. The salesman said they had never received my query via their website. He suggested the website had malfunctioned since it was new at that time. He did not know if the postcard was targeted or a mass mailing. We made an appointment for an estimate. Since our appointment was on a federal holiday, he said he would have to confirm it and would verify it with me the next day. He did not confirm the appointment with us until 4 days later, the day of the appointment, then he was 30 minutes late. He was very polite, but he wanted a $500 design fee to give me more than a ball park estimate of $50,000 to $70,000, and he told us that we would have to wait 3 months or so before they could start our job. He also insisted that we have our 1973 house tested for lead (rightfully so) and preferred that we use their certified lead tester, who would charge $300. Since the other 5 estimates ranged from $18,000 to $36,000, we decided not to use Criner's services. We also had the proposed remodel area tested for lead for $100 by a certified lead tester. (Our certified lead tester charged $100 for the first room/area and $20 a room after that so if we had needed to test the entire house, it would have cost us $300. The law says you only have to test the area being disturbed.)

Their work was excellent. They're very pricey. You will wait a long time because they are meticulous about their work. I would definitely use them again in the future if I could afford them. My kitchen looks absolutely, positively, wonderful. I am extremely pleased with it. So, is everyone that comes in to see it.

They really did a lot of work and they stuck to their estimate. They were a very hardworking crew that are really skilled. Everything they did is good. I've had no problems with any of the work that they did. I really like that I only have to call one company to get the work done that I want done. I feel that they have honest and friendly people working there.
