Black Goose Chimney

This was a busy type of service to try and get during the month of December. I was lucky enough to have Black Goose come the same week I needed our gas logs to be repaired. We were having a party on 12/13 so I wanted the gas logs in the house to work. They had been working intermittently and it was very frustrating because they would cut on and off. They came at 9am or prior as discussed. They cleaned out the logs and did maintenance and they still didn't work after everything was put back together. Luckily the tech was skilled enough to find that our switch was broken and we needed a new wall switch. He left it out of the wall and my husband just went to Home Depot to replace it, installed it, and no problems since!

Very reasonable in price and the tech called me when repair was completed as walked me through it step by step. Even retouched a vent the correct way to prevent the clog up down the road. This was for a town house I am reining and I'm an out of town land lord. Great responsiveness!

I like Black Goose quite a bit - very professional and thorough. However, when they gave me an estimate for my repair work, they came up with $29,000 which was $19,000 higher than my highest estimate. I spoke to Ike about it and he said that the cost was high because of the amount of work, but I was saying the labor was pretty high and he explained that Black Goose gets paid $258 an hour for their work. That is the highest I have seen from any chimney company. I am going with another provider for my repair work, but I will use Black Goose for anything that has a set price and does not have a separate labor charge (like an inspection).

Black Goose was simply amazing!! Their personnel know their business, were very professional, and punctual - arriving early- they thoroughly inspected my chimney for functionality. They noted where things had to be fixed and explained why - including allowing my wife to take a picture of their book where they were citing Code compliance from. When I say thorough - they left nothing to chance and spent over four hours taking a top to bottom look from the roof to the basement. They are the company I will go to from now on.

The gutter cleaning was done well. I like that they charge by the hour instead of the job.We also needed a repair on our fireplace. He took a picture and was going to order the part, but I have never heard back from them.

they essentially took out the old brick and rebuilt the fireplace to fit the new insert. they used more attractive bricks, vented the system out the roof, and put in the new gas insert. the work was done on time, very professionally and the workers were extremely careful and neat. i expected lots of dust and mess, but they erected a plastic "tent" built around metal posts and that worked to keep the flotsam down. we are thrilled with it, it looks fabulous! everybody involved with Black Goose was polite, efficient and friendly. i will use them again and recommend Black Goose without reservation.

They were every bit of outstanding that you could be. We have had them back twice since the original work was done, and if I could just remember to have them back yearly I'd be better off. The guys are a pleasure to be around and treat the homeowner wonderfully well.

The first time they came they brought their camera and everything so that they could view the inside of the fireplace. They were able to tell us of any damaged, did the installation of the piping inside, just everything about this company is professional. They are the only company I'll let work on my fireplace.

They were on time, went out of their way to get the parts for the new vent piping and finish in one afternoon.

The technician arrived on time for his initial inspection to tell me what needed to be done. He was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He even looked at the outside masonry of the chimney when I asked him to. He said the outside was fine. I had many questions and he was friendly and patient. If he didn't know the answer he called the office. One of my questions didn't have to do entirely with the chimney. He called the office and they promised to get back with me with the information that could find out. They did as promised within a couple of days. The technician didn't try to oversell me. We had conversation not a sales pitch. He even told us the origin of the company's name. I had printed a discount coupon off the internet and it was honored. The same technician returned with a helper as agreed upon. He again was on time. They were very neat and cleaned up after themselves. The techs were patient with my dog's curious nature. My chimney cap looks great and keeps the birds out. I would definitely call them again.

Response was very timely. John came out at measured my chimney for a replacement chimney cap on the Saturday after my call on Thursday (the old one had been leaking since the siding was replaced last year). Ryan came out and installed the new chimney cap a few days later.

Black Goose Chimney came out and did an inspection. Their timeliness was fine and they were prompt. They tried to sell me something I didn't need.

onBlack Goose was recommended by Pyramid Roofing to help with a leak we had around our stone chimney. Black Goose inspected the chimney, told us it hadn't been flashed correctly, and then gave us the name of a stone mason who had to come in and rebuild the chimney from the roof line up. Black Goose was very professional in telling us they could not do the job, where other companies in the past just caulked around the chimney and said it was fixed. We have recommended Black Goose to our daughter and son for their chimney inspections and cleaning. It goes to say, you get what you pay for. Not the most expensive but not the cheapest chimney sweeps, but reliable, trustworthy, and on time.

We had an inside leak along our great room ceiling on each side of our fireplace for the past several years. We had several different companies attempt to fix the leak. Most thought it was a flashing problem. Ryan did an inspection, found where some exterior mortar joints in our chimney had failed and was confident this was the source of the leak. We had another chimney company do an inspection the previous week. They had recommended we replace our chimney crown/pan for $2500. So glad we got a second opinion. We have had rain the past several weeks with no sign of leakage. Black Goose found the problem. Ryan was prompt and friendly. He took photos of the inspection, showed us where the problem was, and left us a detailed estimate. They came out the following Saturday where he and his partner worked in very poor weather conditions to complete the job. They took photos of the completed work to show us. We were very happy with them. If we ever have chimney problems again, this is the company we will be calling.

They passed my work on to a subcontractor because it was a gas fireplace. They did good on the first fireplace showing us how to light it and minimize pressure on sealed glass etc. on the 2nd fireplace it burned properly so they couldn't debug it but they acknowledged the knob was bad and said they would try to send another. I never got a knob but also never got a bill. I also have never been able to light the 2nd fireplace again....

We had other people come out and look at the chimney and they couldn't figure it out. Black Goose came out and gave us a proposal to do some chimney repair work. I liked them a lot. They came when they said they would. The only drawback is they only visit certain areas at certain times. They only have allotted times in certain cities each week. If you need an emergency repair you would really need to be closer to them I think.

Initially, Black Goose performed a chimney inspection. I had been plagued with a chimney that leaked water into the fireplace every time it rained. I knew I needed a crown, but wanted a professional opinion. The inspector identified the need for a crown, sealing the gas furnace vent, and reworking some the bricks and mortar joints. The price seemed fair for the estimated work. Two technicians came on 11/28/12 and worked the entire day. They showed up on time and worked all day non-stop. The largest part of the job was reworking the deteriorated bricks and mortar. It was dirty, dusty, nasty, work and while making a pretty good mess, by the time they were done, they cleaned up spotlessly. I was quit pleased with the amount and the quality of work. One of the techs took pictures with a digital camera and pointed out everything they fixed. Quality work and I would recommend this company to anyone. I previously had two sweep companies prior to this, that performed a mediocre attempt at solving the problem. Take my advice and use these guys.

They did an excellent job and they were able to find the problem that I did not know it was existing. They came up with the solution very quickly. I do not remember the cost but I know it was reasonable price at that time.

.Black Goose Chimney pressure washed the exterior of the crawl space on three sides of my house, then applied WeatherTite to weather proof it. The owner was very competent and courteous. He offered several options for weather proofing my crawl space.

Because of high demand for their services and busy season, I had to wait about 3 weeks before they could schedule the inspection. However, their workmanship and customer service is excellent. A little on the high end as far as pricing, but worth the price for the level of knowledge and dependability. I would not hesitate to use them in the future and am completely satisfied with my new brick face and hearth extension and with the peace of mind that the work was done properly and i now have a safe and working fireplace. Also extremely courteous and careful with the tear down so that my home was not a filthy dust bath while the work was being done. Highly recommend this company.

Our appointment was scheduled between 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Ryan McElfraft called us about 2:00 p.m. to let us know he was running late. When he arrived, he apologized for running late. He and Sergey (sp?) immediately went to work and cleaned out the dryer vent, snaking if from the roof. While on our roof, Ryan also cleaned the screen around our duplex neighbor's roof. They completely cleaned up all of the lint from the roof and our duplex neighbor's roof. They were both very friendly and professional. We were so impressed that we referred them to our duplex neighbor.

Very pleased. Will use in the future.

They showed my husband different problems with the chimney while the camera was up there. They determined there was a fire in the chimney sometime before we bought the house so the fireplace was not safe to use. It took a while to get them out here.

Black Goose was very good in helping us make the decision about what to do with the chimney and how much of the repair we wanted to get done right away. They offered us very favorable financing so we were able to get all of the important work done at once.They were friendly and helpful, and the workmen were professional, clean, and efficient.

The owner of Black Goose Chimney company is the organist in my church and he's got a good reputation. I like everything about the company.
