Black Goose Chimney

We called Black Goose to perform a chimney and dryer vent inspection on our rental house. We recently turned the house over for new tenants and had to do quite a bit of work. It's a jungle out there, trying to find people long distance who will do the work you need done without trying to screw you over monetarily. That's why when I heard from our new tenant that the chimney and the dryer vent had been inspected by Black Goose and did NOT need to be cleaned, I was almost shocked. That's too bad that honesty and integrity in a business would shock me, but after a few recent situations, it truly did. I would recommend Black Goose to any of you who are looking for a company that does their job with integrity. We will definitely call them again and recommend them to friends as well. Thanks!

I had a great experience with this company and will definitely use them again in the future. Ryan showed up on time and was very polite and professional. He inspected my fireplace and chimney, taking pictures of everything from the flue to the cap. He determined there was no need for a sweep at this time. He showed me some photos of areas to watch as time goes on that could become problems with water saturation and mortar cracking. They now have good quality photos to compare the next time they come out and inspect to ensure to degradation is occurring. He also provided estimates for planning purposes should any work be required down the road, but in no way pressured me into any unnecessary work. I had completely forgot about the Angie's List coupon, but a note was made from when I scheduled the appointment that I intended to use the coupon. I would have paid the $99 if he hadn't reminded me....and obviously they honored the Angie's List coupon! This was a great experience and I will most certainly use Black Goose for all of my service down the road!

Very courteous and timely. The work was done quickly and the area was left clean, which amazed me given how much mess removing the old chimney and lining created. Started and finished on time.

I noticed a fishy smell in my dad's house and isolated it to the chimney. Black Goose was recommended to me previously by one of my neighbors so I immediately called them. I explained to Kristin that I thought dead animals were in the chimney and described the horrid smell and huge flies that seemed to be coming from inside....yuck! She scheduled Ryan and Sergey to come check it out on Wednesday morning. An accident involving one of the vehicles pushed the time back to later in the afternoon, but Kristin called my dad to make sure he was aware and set up a time for later that afternoon. When Ryan and Sergey arrived, they discovered the screen covering the chimney had come down and several dead animals (birds and squirrels) in various states of decomposition; so many [I'm embarrassed to say] that they had trouble opening the flue. But they managed to get it open and removed the unwanted guests, swept the chimney, and replaced the screen. When they were done, my dad tried to pay, but Ryan and Sergey wouldn't let him and told him his daughter was adament about paying. The real story is that Kristin didn't have my contact info, only my dad's, but she/they (Black Goose) trusted me to call back and honor my contract. They are the best! Black Goose provided the best service, best customer service, and at the best price. I will be using them yearly to clean my dad's chimney. Oh and the smell was completely gone the next day! Everything was done as quoted in a highly satisfactory manner! Very professional.

They were a bit late but put down a mat to wipe their shoes (it was raining out), introduced themselves and got work. I watched and they explained what they were doing and later when they were going to vacuum they warned of the noise. When they left they left a written report of what they had found and what they had done and how the results of the tests had changed.

The chimney sweep and inspection went fine. The service tech suggested that a mason could actually do the repairs more cost-effectively and suggested we contact a mason for that part of the work. (We were fine with this and appreciated their honesty). The service tech needed to check with the office concerning replacing the fireplace doors but said that they would be in touch to discuss this further. After hearing nothing for a week or so, I called them and was directed to a website for fireplace doors but given no other assistance. We selected a set and I called to let them know, and they said they would let me know the price. After hearing nothing (again) for a couple of weeks, I called back and found that nothing had been done. They then called me a day or so later with the price for the new doors. I confirmed that we wanted to proceed and asked them to order the doors. In the meantime, we contacted a mason and discovered the repairs we needed were more extensive than we expected. The mason suggested we cancel the fireplace door order, of possible, because they might not fit after the masonry work was completed. When I called Black Goose to see if they could cancel the order, we found out that they still hadn't ordered the doors. While this worked out for the best for us, it reflected poorly on the company. Bottom line, we would use them again for chimney cleaning/inspection but not for anything more involved. We would have graded them "A" for the cleaning and inspection, but our experience with the fireplace doors brought some of the grades down.

They made me feel like my chimney was going to fall down and it was completely unsafe. In fact, the chimney only needed some minor repairs

Contacted provider via Angie's List on 3/7/15, today is 3/15/15 and I have yet to hear back from them.

They were wonderful and honest and it turned out that it was not an issue with our chimney; it was an issue with our roofing. They gave us a referral to a roofing company. They brought a ladder and climbed up to the roof and looked at the base of the chimney for leaks which was coming into our chimney. They looked and realize that it was the roof.

They arrived promptly and inspected the dryer vent, which runs almost 15 ft from the laundry room to the outside. Initial air flow was 723 fpm. They said they could not clean the vent because their equipment would damage the semi-rigid ductwork and we would have to replace the ductwork because it didn't meet code. They gave an estimate of $379.50 to replace the duct. At my insistence, they used their blower only without the brush, which brought the airflow up to 1111 fpm (optimal is 1500). I called another company (Ace Chimney Sweep) for a second opinion and Ace said the ductwork was fine, and cleaned the vent using brush and blower with no problems.

We do it once a year and I have used them two years in a row. We get a group rate because it is in our condo development. They are easy to work with, on time, very professional and do a good job.

It took a long time for them to get the work done and they were not communicative. Once the work was done the quality of the work was good but they did not cleaned up very well.

These folks are awesome. They answered the phone when I originally called. Polite, efficient and got us scheduled within a week of phone call. Received a reminder phone call day before the appointment. Showed up within the window specified, introduced themselves and got to work. In ten minutes they were able to show me how the dryer vent was not connected and was just blowing lint into the wall. They repaired, checked the system, ran the tests, lined up the washer & dryer for me and cleaned up everything. They where here for about 45 minutes. Personable, efficient and reasonable. Highly recommend this company.

The climbed up on the roof to inspect the outside and used light to inspect the inside. They took pictures with a digital camera of everything and showed me after they were done inspecting. I mainly had contact with the lady that came up. The guy was very polite though. They were very professional. She took pictures of some of the damage and told me that someone would contact me with an estimate but no one ever did, if they do call back they didn't leave a voicemail so I didn't know. Other than that they were awesome.

Service was done as promised. When an additional part was needed, response was made quickly. My only complaint is that I don't think I received enough details about the unit before it was installed, but that was probably my fault for not asking questions. All in all I am satisfied.
