Awnings by Bigley & Hogshire

Only one small hiccup. When they first scheduled the installations, they only had 2 of the four awnings. They rescheduled installations the next week with all four awnings in hand. Very prompt and efficient with the installations.

I would absolutely use Awnings by Bigley & Hogshire again.

The job was completed satisfactorily. The reason I gave them the middle scores is that communication was scarce, late and often wrong, even amongst themselves. The actual install was much later than we were told in the beginning. But they did complete the job and I have no complaints with the quality of the work.

They worked with us to satisfy our concerns and we are 100% happy with our new awning! They are professional and they are good at what they do! We highly recommend using them if you are looking for a new awning!

They came out to look at a awning that was put on our house by a previous owner because I could not get it to close properly. They showed up exactly as schedule were polite and professional. quickly gave me an estimate which I approved and they began work immediately and were finished within a few hours. Great service.

Ours was a bit difficult to do because they were using an existing frame, but they did a great job.

Top notch performance, totally satisfied with all aspects of the project. Awnings By Bigley & Hogshire responded promptly to my request for service on their website. Within days they were at my front door, taking custom measurements on my awning. They explained the entire process and potential timeline, and I had a quote free of charge a day later. Well under other places we looked. After committing to their proposal, the awning was completed and installed a week ahead of schedule. It fit the custom frame perfectly, and looked amazing. They captured every detail of the previous custom awning, far exceeding my expectations. It's been two months since the install, and the awning still looks great with no signs of "corners cut" in the fabrication or install. I fully recommend this company if you are looking to replace or install an awning at your residence.

Estimator showed up as scheduled. He was very pleasant and his estimate was acceptable. When the installers came, they recognized the awning should be mounted from overhead instead of from the wall, so a different mount had to be ordered. This delayed the installation by a week, but it was done on time, quickly and professionally. Everything works as it should. The wind sensor was included free of charge. The estimator did a good job of helping us to pick the awning pattern. We are very happy with the result and only regret we did not do this years ago. I recommend this company for awning installation.

In the end I would have to say that I was happy with them. I had my doubts during the process but that was mostly caused by poor communication on their part. There's a saying when you hire a contractor that you can have it good, cheap and fast. Choose any two. This proved true with them as well. I think they did a great job and were much cheaper than my competing quotes. However it did take a lot longer than agreed. I have them a b because of the timeframe however I would probably use them again when I need another awning.

There were several delays in receiving the awnings. The person that installed it did an excellent job. The person that installed it was great but their front desk is not very responsive.

Please reference my previous review date May, 2014. Today is July 29, 2014 and the installation of my awning and drop downs is complete. Mr. Bigley and his installation team have worked very hard to get our work done in the summer heat, and we appreciate their effort. We chose this company because of the recommendations of several landscaping professionals with whom we have dealt. The quality of their products seemed quite superior to what we have seen on other homes. Although more expensive than the Sunsetter brand, we have a cleaner looking profile on the house and a much longer warranty period because of better quality fabrics and superior mechanical parts. Overall, I cannot ignore the fact that this was not the experience I expected in terms of timeliness and, more importantly, communications. I am raising my overall rating to a B with the expectation that any future transactions will be dealt with in an expeditious manner. I will keep you posted.

.Good salesman who seemed knowledgeable about the products - came to our home - we ordered and put a deposit down on May 5, 2014. Now it is 8 and 1/2 weeks later and we still have nothing - no retractable awnings, no drop down screens. They have never called me - I have called them three times and the tale is always the same - incorrect parts arrived, fabric hasn't shipped, isn't the right material, it's a hard business to control, etc. They use the and quot;In Business since 1876and quot; slogan - apparently it takes that long to get the awnings!

Very good customer service. The sales person, Bryan, explained all of our options, including giving us pricing on three different sizes, both with and without motors. He gave us pros and cons of roof mount vs. wall mount, as we had limited height on wall mount. We changed several choices, midstream, and everyone involved was very accommodating. People in the office, Cindy, Taylor and Harold, were most helpful in making our final decision. Everything went very well. I was very concerned that the wiring would show, and the installers did a very good job concealing it.

Prompt estimate and explanation of product. Awnings were incorrectly measured initially, but installers remeasured and awnings were redone and installed very quickly.

We recently purchased a home in Chesapeake, and had discussed whether or not to install a rollaway awning covering the back porch of the house. The house has a southern exposure and already we were experiencing heat from the sun in our Florida Room despite this being a cool spring. Coincidently we had seen an add for a roll away awning in the local news. Searching Angies' List, we decided to contact Awnings by Bigley. They answered promptly, and scheduled an appointment for their sales representative to review the proposed installation. He arrived at the time agreed upon, conducted the measurements, and made specific recommendations on location and brands. Then came the pricing / Quoting: I was pleasantly pleased! Not only was the quote within my target, but was more aggressive than I had anticipated. Since my wife was not available for the initial consultation, I agreed to recontact the sales representative within the next two weeks if we elected to proceed. I was advised that the quote would be and quot;goodand quot; for 30days, which was more than adequate. After further consultation / discussion , my wife and I elected to proceed. Since she was not available at the initial consultation, it was necessary for the sales representative to revisit and review the various options in fabric and color selections. Because of our schedule, it was necessary for Bigley to adjust their sales rep schedule, and fit us in for the follow up visit, which occurred with in two days. The order was placed, with an expectation that the awning would not be available for 4-5 weeks. We were surprised when Bigley contacted us within two weeks advising that the completed awning had been received, and was ready for installation. The installation crew arrived as scheduled, completed the work, and walked us through the operation of the Awning. Fantastic Job. Clean, professional, polite. Great Job

The service people were nice, but it was very difficult to work with the office staff. They had to send people out several times to correct mistakes, and they wanted to charge me for each visit.

I called for someone to come and give me an estimate, which they did the next day. I was impressed by the professional manner of the representative, and the estimate of the work was within my budget.

We recently added a gabled roof over our deck, and then wanted something to provide both some afternoon shade from the setting sun, as well as reduce the occasional breeze across the deck on cool evenings. Grant came out and showed us pictures and sample materials, measure up and provided a quote on the spot. We placed an order and they returned as scheduled to install them We are very satisfied with Bigley's and with our shades!

I was able to get an estimate within just a few days of my initial call. The guy who came was prompt, courteous, and gave me a thorough explanation of the products available for recovering my existing awning. He also took measurements and explained how he could construct the frame for the new awning. Installation took place well within the stated time frame. The installation crew arrived early and were quick and thorough with the installation. THey were also very courteous and made sure I was happy with the awnings before they left. Overall, I am very pleased with my experience and would not hesitate to use them again.

I appreciate a company such as Bigley and Hogshire, who honor their customers with straight communication and real service! I made the right decision in choosing this organization to perform the work I needed. I found them on Angie's List, read the reviews, and even though there was one negative review, I read the reports from both sides and judged for myself. It was clear to me that someone had a complaint, and I felt that this company did what was necessary to please that customer. Some people are never pleased, and as a business owner, I know that to be true. I got what I wanted because this is an exceptional company with a work ethic that should be commended. So,

I have a retail business and was recently in need of an awning. We had used Taylor Bigley in the past (about 7 years ago) so we called him to get a quote for our new store. I was impressed to learn that they had expanded their operation which gave them the ability to not only weld their own frames but also stitch the custom canvas. As expected the quality of service, communication and end result was better than expected. I highly recommend Awnings by Bigley!
