I have been an ANI customer for over 20 years, paying them over $35,000, and they have been great, reliable, professional, and thorough up until this year. But then we had 2 disastrous floods both upstairs and in the crawl space because they failed to suck out the condensation drains during their annual spring servicing causing the upstairs air handler unit back up and flood the wood hallway and the downstairs unit to flood the crawl space. The upstairs oak hallway had to be replaced for $3200, the crawl space vacuumed out, both upstairs and crawlspace ducts replaced, air handler cleaned, stop switches installed, and new traps installed totally costing another $2300. ANI refused any liability for any of the damage. When the service technician came to vacuum out the crawl space, I got a face full of resentment from the technician who apparently felt put out. Then, as a result of their upstairs air handler repairs we had an electrical issue with the upstairs heat. They came out twice but couldn't fix it. I had to have an electrician resolve the problem. ANI did give me a refund on that service call. THEN THEY HAD THE GALL TO FIRE ME AS A CUSTOMER!!! That's the last time I will hire them.

The service/repair went very well. The existing air handler (a Goodman product) was replaced with a Lenox air handler. After the Lenox air handler was installed it was determined that the dual zone handler (manufactured by the Green Zone) was faulty and had to be replaced. Since the Green Zone product is not an "off-the-shelf" and readily available product it had to be ordered and shipped to Art Newsome, Inc. They took care of ordering the dual zone product and worked around the absence of the dual zone product to provide air conditioning until the product could be delivered and installed. As soon as Art Newsome, Inc., received the product they arrived to install it. The installation went without a hitch and the heat pump/air handler have been working perfect;y. I was very satisfied with the work Art Newsome, Inc. performed.
Description of Work: Replaced the air handler on the heat pump located on the 2nd floor of my home. The heat pump provides a dual zone service (front of house and rear of house) to equitably distribute heating and cooling to the upstairs level.

First we had a visit with their salesman who offered us different options for both units. Although it was the air conditioner that really needed to be replaced; we had to replace furnace at same time as new air conditioners aren't compatible with a furnace that old.. We chose to obtain a 10 year parts and labor warranty that transfers to new owner in event we sell our home. The workers arrived on time and finished getting old units out and installation of air conditioner that day and returned the next day to install furnace. They did have to come back one more day to finish installation of humidifier. They were very professional and removed old units as well as cleaning up basement area where they were working. Two years ago, their workers installed a heat pump serving the 2nd level of our home after the original unit had failed. We also have a yearly contract with them to come out twice yearly to inspect units. The worker who first noted that air conditioner was going is a very thorough and helpful technician.

Though I have found this company to be friendly and courteous, based on my overall experience with them I don't recommend them.
Description of Work: My Lennox heat pump was installed by Art Newsome and company about 15 years ago, we had a hard time getting them to initally service the unit when we wanted some preventive maintenance done on the system. When we needed it repaired we had to join their maintenance plan (for a fee) to get "priority" for getting a technician. It took at least three trips and two different technicians to diagnose and finally correct the problems. I definitlely paid for parts and service not needed due to the poor ability of the initial service person. The second technician diagnosed the problem properly and resolved the issue correctly. He did tell me that the previous two fixes never addressed the problem. Good for him for being upright about it. Once we joined the maintenance plan, we did get quick service. However, I don't thnk I should pay an annual fee to get prompt service from a company that I originally paid to install the unit. I can tell you when they originally installed the system they were quick to send me letters letting me know that I was valuable a customer and that they would provide great service and to let them know if there were problems and they would be quick to resolve them. I did contact them about my problems, emailed a couple of times, talked to a couple of people (claimed to be managers) and I didn't have a satisfying experience. When the AC stopped working over the Memorial Day weekend and I called for service and they were very responsive. But, the compressor had failed and they could not repair or replace it before the work week and then there would still be a delay for parts. They were very happy to send someone out to give me a quote for a complete replacement system that Saturday afternoon. I did have the system replaced but with the spotty service I've had with this company I decided to find a more reliable company and change the brands of heat pump. My grades would be the aggregate of the service I had with Art Newsome Inc. Based on my experience, I could not recommend this company.

We apologize for any inconvenienced caused when your system failed. According to our records, we found that your system was low on refrigerant (freon) on March 23rd of that year (2 months prior to the compressor failing). Upon performing an electronic leak check, we determined which components were leaking and ordered them for replacement on March 28th. We recharged the system to provide cooling until the parts arrived from the manufacturer. Two months later, we did respond to a call where the compressor had failed. That failure was more than likely due to the previous leaks having taken it's toll on the aged compressor. The prior repairs were required, diagnosed by a NATE certified technician who also posses his Master Mechanical license and authorized by the homeowner. At the time of the compressor failure, ANI offered to provide a quotation to replace the system as it was at the end of it's life cycle.

The technicians are really nice and friendly; they take the time to explain things to me. When I call they are just really nice and they come out really fast. They did a great job. I was happy with their pricing. I would use them again in the future if I needed to.

I have a contract and I haven't had any problems. They came out one time during the summer on the air conditioner. We called them at 3 am and they sent someone out to fix it.

We just got an estimate from this company to fix/redo our heating and A/C ductwork after a flood this winter. We didn't have any heat coming out of the vents in our master bedroom and I suspected that the ductwork had actually fallen down or completely detached from the vent. I specifically asked the person who came out if that was the case and he said "No." The ductwork needed to be completely replaced becasue it was the wrong size and was kinked in several places leading back to the bedroom. The quote was approx. $4000. I asked if it got wet in the flood and he said only the bottom couple of inches in several places, and that the flood was not the problem. I subsequently got under the house myself, because I frankly didn't believe him and what did I find but the ductwork to both vents in the bedroom laying on the ground, completly detached and the one for the master bath also laying on the ground but barely hanging on. He flat out lied! I subsequently called someone else and they told me (the truth) that the ductwork had gotten wet in most places about half way up the duct, but that it had dried out well and didn't appear to need to be replaced anywhere. He attached the ducts back to the vents and to the floor joists so they weren't on the ground anymore and said if we wanted to get it replaced he suggested putting it in the attic so we wouldn't have to worry about another flood and he would do all that (cutting new holes etc.) for the same price. He said he didn't see any kinks and the ductwork could be slightly more efficient but not worth replacing it now when we didn't need to. Oh yeah, and the service tech said we should get a new heating system while we were at it as the one we have is just going to give us more problems and isn't really big enough to heat and cool our home. Another $4000. Engle (not yet listed on Angie's) fixed out ducts and heater for $170 and we havn't had any problems since. Use Engle, he won't lie to you like Art Newsome's people will!

He cleaned a couple of contact points and said he thought it was a particular part he had to order ($200) and he would call us when it came in. He NEVER called us back! 2 weeks later when it quit again I called Engle (not listed on Angie's) I'll never have anything else done them because I was flat out lied to. I've been pulled around before but never like this!!

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. According to our records, we never visited the property in November of 2009, however we did respond to a "no heat" service call in January 2010. We found the system suffering from delayed ignition caused by a dirty flame sensor (which we cleaned and that resolved that problem) and the system was also locking on on a limit caused by dirty filters (which the homeowner remedied while we were there). We notated on the service record that the ductwork was lying on the ground under the house and did, in fact, make a recommendation for new equipment based on the condition of the existing system. The customer authorized our repairs, paid the service invoice of $142.00, and signed off on the work as being completely satisfied.

There were problems with the installation that they took several years to really fix. There was debris in the freon line and they had to reinstall a filter several times. They thought it was out of freon and overfilled it one time before they realized that there was actually a constriction in the line.

Thank you for responding. The repair in question was a tough one. It was an intermittent problem that required a few visits to "catch". Debris was discovered in the refrigerant circuit that was intermittently causing a restriction in the system's refrigerant (freon) metering device.

These guys are very friendly. They are very conscious of the inside of the house. They always put their ladders and things like that where they won't damage the house. They always watch where they are standing just in case their shoes are dirty and always put a towel or some paper on the floor where they put their things. The only issue I have with them is when it is time to make the appointments. Last time I made an appointment they gave it to me 3 months after I had made the call. The good thing is that the warranty we pay annually to them includes everything, including parts that need to be repaired and labor.
Description of Work: We bought a heating unit from them a while ago, so they came and gave us the regular check-up service. So the last time they came in they just did their check-up really quick and left.

They were very professional, and they showed up on time. They worked very hard at getting my unit in. They stuck to the price they quoted us, which was a plus. We haven't had any problems or needed any follow up work since they put the unit in. They guaranteed their work, so I didn t have to worry about that anyhow. It's hard to find good help, so these guys were great to deal with.

I felt pretty good about letting this guy in my home because he was very polite. He went right to work and cleaned up when he was done checking things out. This company had prices that were normal. I thought most of them charged around the same price.
