Excellent. Quality, the furnace worked all winter with no problems. They're coming again next month to get ready for the winter. I would recommend them. The workers were fine, they know the furnace is an older furnace and so they know how to fix it.

I did not use this contractor to replace the heat pump at my home because they did not respond to my Invitation to Bid. I sent out bid requests to 4 local HVAC contractors but did not receive a bid back from any of them. Why? Because I tried to protect myself by including a few simple contractual type agreements in my Invitation to bid which the bidding contractor had to sign and return with their bid. None of the agreements were outrageous. They were simple things like; requiring the contractor to repair any damages made by the contractor’s employees to my property and the neighboring property, requiring the contractor to repair any damages made by his employees to the new equipment being installed, etc. You would think that these reasonable and normal expectations should be a given and no problem for any reputable contractor; right? Wrong! These types of contractual agreements may work for a general contractor who could possibly provide the sub-contractor with future business but, if you are a homeowner of only one home, forget about it. The sub-contractor won’t even respond. I did receive a phone call from one of the subs saying he was “too busy and with all the procedures, he would not be submitting a bid”. So forget anything you may read about protecting yourself when choosing and hiring a sub-contractor. I was very surprised to learn that most sub-contractors don’t even have a contract of their own and, those that do, are very brief and worded to protect themselves, not you. There should be a law requiring a general contract to protect both parties as part of any job of this scope. But, there is no such law so, it is up to you to carefully research and carefully select a reputable contractor. I ended up going with Sears for the replacement of my Heat Pump. I at least received a renewable 5-year maintenance agreement for my Heat Pump which includes an annual service visit, giving me a little peace of mind.

Noticed early in the AM that the air coming through the vents was not cold but room temperature. Called Mountain Valley Home Comfort just after 08:00AM. They originally installed our Lennox HVAC when the home was built in 2004. I identified myself as a new owner of the home to Tabitha and she courteously passed me on to Tammy. Tammy got my information, and told me that Shawn would be by my home between 10:30 and 11:00. She was very pleasant and courteous. Shawn arrived right on time and went straight to work after I described the problem to him. He found the problem, a blown capacitor, replaced it, and checked the performance in on the exterior unit. He verified it was working properly with me and explained the operation of the Lennox system. He had performed routine yearly preventative checkups and maintenance for the previous owner. He was courteous, knowledgable and professional, and the bill was a pleasant surprise; it could have been a lot more serious with a 10 year old system but we were fortunate. My wife and I were totally pleased with the whole experience we had with Mountain Valley Home Comfort and will definitely call them next time we need service of our HVAC. We also plan to have a yearly maintenance contract with them.

Each time they worked on the issue and supposedly fixed it. Finally we called a different service provider and they were able to fix it and had to correct problems caused by Mountain Valley Home Comfort so we were very dissappointed.

I came home to a cold house at 10 pm. Since I have a gas fire place, I decided to wait until the next morning to call about repairs. The company I had previously used to service my heating and and conditioning was unsatisfactory, so I decided to try Angie's List. Since the list is not very large in Harrisonburg, with few comments, I choose one that advertised, in the phone book, that they serviced my brand. I made the call at 9 am and, even though I was not a prior customer, they gave me an appointment for 1 pm. A very pleasant man named Jay showed up about 2 pm. He listened while I explained that the burners were turning on but the gas was not igniting, etc. Then he went to work, found the ignitor was bad, replaced it, and rechecked the operation. Jay showed me the old ignitor and explained that it probably went bad because some oil (possibly from a finger print) had been on the metal part. He said he replaced it with a better ignitor and it should last longer. Jay said I could pay by cash, check, or credit card. I paid by American Express, but received a bill a few days later - they don't take American Express. That is O.K. with me - I need the air miles on my Master Card. I was very pleased with the service and will have them service my system in the spring.
Description of Work: He checked over my furnace operation and found that the ignitor was bad. Then he replaced the ignitor and rechecked the furnace operation.

We had recently moved into our home, and I couldn't determine how to change out the filter on our AC/heating unit. I called Mountain Valley since they're just a block away. The operator explained that a technician would be passing by en route to a job in a neighboring town and would stop in. He arrived as scheduled, was polite and courteous, and was in our home for about two minutes: all the time it took to reveal the filter housing. He then went out and sat in his truck for the better part of a half hour, and then returned to submit a bill for an hour's service. I called the office to get an explanation, and was told that any other business would likely do the same thing. Not the kind of business that I'd ever invite back!

Gave the best price on a new heat pump, by$300-$400.00. Showed up on time; did the installation; system has been trouble-free since. Couldn't ask for more.

During both the initial installation and the service call (when they successfully diagnosed and fixed a minor but obscure problem that had developed with our system) we have been extremely happy with their responsiveness and the quality of their work. In our interactions with them they have been prompt and professional. In addition, they know about, stay current with, and are comfortable working on new high efficiency heating and cooling systems (like the brand of geothermal system they carry).
Description of Work: When our home was built in 2008 Mountain Valley Home Comfort provided and did the initial installation of our geothermal heating and cooling system. This year they came back and serviced the system.
