Gary Spencer's Trash Services

(Note: The cost of $304 is the yearly cost of this service. We pay by the quarter.) We have been with Gary Spencer's Trash Service since its inception. For the first few years there were no problems at all and I would have rated him an A. However, recent events have completely wiped that out. Recently (July 2015) he stopped collecting trash at our location. When I called and spoke with the wife, she assured me she would look into the problem. Another week went by, with no collection. I called again, and again received apologies and the promise to look into it. Well, another 2 weeks went by and I finally was able to speak to Mr. Spencer himself. He was defensive when he got on the phone and said that there was a problem with our credit which was why he didn't pick up the trash for the last 3 weeks. When I pressed him further, he became upset and admitted there "was an error" and it wasn't our account after all (completely made up excuse). When I asked why he hadn't picked up the trash on the 4th week, we said it was because there was a car blocking the driveway. I pretty much called him on that, too, because all our renters are advised not to block the driveway. Words got heated on both sides, and Mr. Spencer said "Either accept my apology or I'll take my cans and you won't have any trash pickup at all." This being a rental property, we needed trash pickup for the tenants so I acquiesced and he assured me the trash would be picked up on its regular schedule. That was yesterday and, guess what! no trash pickup. I called the office, understandably upset, and yelled at the receptionist who answered the phone. My bad. She didn't like my attitude and hung up on me. I wrote an email and truly do not expect to hear back from this lousy, non-professional company. I asked for a refund of 2 months payment and for an additional $300 (which is what it has cost us so far to have the trash removed). I really don't expect any of that back. Interesting how he has taken our money, but has not fulfilled his part of the contract. I also informed them that they have to remove their trash cans--I don't want the useless things left on the property. STAY AWAY from this company. It's too bad really, because they are the only company for trash pickup at this location. I guess that's what he's banking on. UPDATE: Mr. Spencer came and collected the trash cans from our property approximately 2 weeks after I last heard from him. To this date, he has still not refunded ANY of the money he took from us for this quarter (July-September). In effect, he stole $76 from us. I hope he puts it to good use.
