They were punctual and did an excellent job of cleaning up the site after taking down the tree.

This job was done on the same visit that they performed work for another Angie's List deal (which I reported separately). David, the owner, was accommodating and logical and agreed to do this work on the same visit that they were coming to do work related to another Angie's List deal I had bought (feedback for that one, reported separately). I have also found Heather in the office (with whom I communicated always through email) to be responsive and interested in providing good service. The crew was pleasant and worked hard and well. They did a thorough job, I was very pleased.

First call to schedule after Big Deal purchased was responded to promptly. Contractor came to home and provided estimate. When we returned the call to tell them that all we wanted done at this time was what we had purchased with the Big Deal; the responsiveness ended. Multiple phone calls were never returned. Excuses were that the answering system was messed up (message wasn't left on answering system but with a person) Another excuse was that there was a storm coming and that a return call would be after the storm (no return call). Another excuse was that they didn't have us in their records. Another time was that they were busy and would call at the end of the month to schedule. (the end of the month would have been October. At this time, we still have not received the service nor the return call "at the end of the month". The last message that was left was that we wanted our money refunded since we can see that the service is not going to be done since we do not want more work done than what we initially paid for. No return call from that either.

I can't tell you how happy I am with them. Not only will I use them in the future, but any friends of mine will get his name if they ask if I know anyone who does tree work.

David Munoz responded promptly to my request for an estimate. He came to the house within days and spent time evaluating the trees on the property that needed removal. He displayed a high level of knowledge about trees and pointed out some issues we werent aware of such as disease characteristics he noticed, insect infestation, etc. In addition to his obvious extensive knowledge about trees, Mr. Munoz is personable and professional. He and his impressive crew arrived on time and worked super hard to complete all work and cleanup prior to the days end. We could not have been more satisfied with the responsiveness, value, quality, and professional job provided by Mr. Munoz and his crew. We will continue to use VA Contracting LLC for any/all future tree removal. Excellent company; quality work.

Great service - recommendations on what to do were great.

They were great! Everything done as expected and on time. Only small criticism was that left left numerous water bottles throughout the lawn.

It did not happen. He did not call me back.

provided thorough, detailed estimate of work; made appointment to do work but came before the date to see if it was possible to start early, which it was. We then did a thorough review of the work to be performed, including a firm price for additional work. The work was done carefully and professionally, material was ground as the work progressed and area cleaned up before moving to next area. i was consulted about which branches were to be removed. The crew was respectful and friendly as well as especially efficient. The crew leader offered helpful advice about shaping large trees that were being pruned. I wanted to keep the shredded material for mulch and it was dumped exactly where I wanted it. I have had other tree service performed, but this group was far easier to work with, worked more quickly and charged a fairer price. I would hire them again, without reservation. Excellent service at a fair price.

I bought the $200 deal because I was sure I had at least that much work to do. David came and gave me an estimate, as well as some advice on other things I may need done in the future. I told him the trees had to come down because they were too close to the house, and I was going to have the house painted in a few weeks. He said he'd be able to get it done close to the time when the painters would start work, depending on the weather. But the next day he called and said he was in the neighborhood and could do the work that day if I wanted him to. I told him to go ahead. He got it all done, and cleaned everything up nicely. He was wonderful to work with, and I will call him again if/when I have other tree work to do.

The provider never showed and never called. I followed up 2 times to no avail. Tried to get firewood before the rain and cold. Now we' re soaked and the chill is here.

They trimmed the bush and we are able to get around the house without any obstruction.

David provided a prompt and accurate estimate for the work I wanted done and suggested other things I should probably get done. The office contacts were professional and I was able to get updates when needed. The crew showed up exactly when promised and worked for three solid days to get the job done. They exceeded my expectations in every way. The work was done professionally and in the exact time promised. They were open to discussions as the work proceeded and I never felt like the job was out of my control. Everything was hauled away and the yard cleaned, even cleaning things they had nothing to do with. Overall they exceeded my expectations and I would definitely use them for future work.

This is a repeat for using VA Contracting for tree work. They did a fantastic job cutting back, trimming and shaping a crepe myrtle last year that I asked them back for an estimate on further tree work (an Angie's list special). David was fantastic. They scaled a huge tree to find that I did not need to remove it. How often do vendors suggest against spending money. They removed one tree and its stump, pruned two decorative trees and cut down several random large branches on the oaks in the yard. David is knowledgeable and professional. In the three times he has been to my yard, he has been there when he said he would be and did what he said he would do and is super easy to work with. No surprises. His men were very hard workers yesterday while doing a ton of heavy work. They were helpful and personable. I will use VA Contracting in the future.

They did a great job -- accomplished a lot in one day. They cleaned up everything and mulched up the small tree branches and leaves and cut up the downed trees into firewood lengths. They were willing to take it all away, but we wanted to keep it, so they left it in piles where we designated. They also made recommendations about trees that should be removed or should stay and identified one very large tree that appears to be rotten inside and will need to be removed once we decide to do so. They seemed to know what they were doing and were very professional and courteous. We have a one-acre wooded lot, so I am sure we will need more tree services. We will definitely hire them again.

After buying the Angie's deal, I was contacted shortly after to schedule a visit. David, the owner, came by and found him to be very pleasant to deal with. He also advised me not to trim the Japanese Maple in the summer because it would hurt him and explained why, which I appreciated. He had no problem in doing some of the work in the summer and the rest in the Fall, if that's what I wanted, which I also appreciated. The day of the work, Matthew and a crew came by and I went over the work to be done with him. He said he understood what I wanted and offered advice. The crew worked a lot and they were all pleasant. After a while they called me to show me something. I had told them that I wanted one holly about a foot from some cables going through it though I didn't explain if above or below. They had cut under the cables, and explained that those kept going down as they lost the support of the branches, so they were concerned that the cables would keep going down if they kept cutting back on the holly and the holly kept getting shorter. So I told them to leave it right there. Later on, David the owner came by to ask if I was happy with the work, so I went out to take a look and the crew was gone but I told him they had been great. He asked me if I wanted to be billed but I said I would pay him right away, which I did. The work of trimming the Japanese Maple (and a bit of a small dogwood next to it) was left to be done later as it would be better for the tree to be pruned in the Fall or later. For this, another crew came on 12/16/15 and did the job, so completing the work for this deal. The company was very responsive and interested in completing the work that remained to be done on this deal. The crew that came in December was also very pleasant and eager to please. I was overall happy with their work. On the same visit, they did work for a second Angie's deal that I bought after the first one but before they came to work (I will report on the rest of the work separately).

I purchased a special offer, three workers for 1 full day at $1400 and I took an option for a second day at $1000. In that time they did the following: (1) Ground down a truly enormous tree trunk and stump from 200-year-old oak blown over in Hurricane Isabel - about 8 ft long and 6 ft diameter, with roots sticking up 10 feet in the air - that no one else wanted to deal with. (2) Removed two large standing trees, one live, one dead. (3) Ground down 3 additional stumps, including another very large oak. and (4) Cleared out yet another very large fallen oak tree, plus a large brush pile and a pile of logs. All debris was either removed or shredded and left as mulch, as requested. In short, they did an amazing amount of work in 2 days and for the price.

When he gave us an estimate it was verbally, in person, with nothing in writing. This made me a bit nervous but David kept to his estimate exactly. David showed up on time and he and his crew worked all day and evening. It was dark by the time they left. They came back early the next morning to finish up and make sure it looked good. He did a great job and checked with us throughout the process to make sure it looked the way we wanted it to. He even redid an area after pointing out to us that it would look better if he angled the wood supports. They worked very hard and cleaned up the areas they worked on. We were very happy with the results.

David and his crew were fantastic. From the estimate to completion, I was blown away by the apparently seam-less work of this company. They've clearly established a rhythm with each other and made a very complicated (and dangerous) job look effortless. They finished the work a full day ahead of schedule and cleaned up beautifully. They even handled an elderly irritable neighbor with grace! I highly recommend David's company to anyone needing tree work. Let's face it: tree removal isn't cheap, but quality service is critical and with VA Contracting, you most definitely get what you pay for and then some.

We had to reschedule this Angies List deal many times due to weather, first due to snow and then due to rainy days. I have a low area of my property that we wanted to make sure would be dry before we scheduled this service. Once David and his crew got here, they did a fantastic job. All of the crew members are hard workers and clearly are experts at pruning and taking down large trees. I feel that I got way more than my money's worth from the day of work that they did (which was interrupted by a hard rain shower in the middle of the afternoon). I will certainly try to hire them again in the future.

This provider was punctual for both the estimate and the job. The job was done in a professional manner and the workers were friendly and considerate. I would use them again without hesitation.

The original $1,399, one day of work, package was purchased as a gift. The gift recipient purchased additional services. VA Contracting was very accommodating. The job required a day more than was estimated but VA Contracting stuck with the original quoted price. The trees removed were quite large and not easy to reach in a dense, hilly neighborhood. They did a great job!

They left some of the chips and took the rest of the wood. The workers were fine. I think it would be much better if there was something on there where they could get your work done within one to two weeks time frame. It's like they get a loan for free for two or three months.
