I scheduled an estimate before purchasing the Angie's List coupon ($400 worth of work for $223). During the estimate I described the work I wanted done and was told it exceeded $400 worth of work. We agreed that I would dispose of branches instead of them which reduced the price. On the scheduled date the crew arrived, did the work well, and helped to clean up. I am pleased with the trimming they did, they did more work than we originally agreed, and our trees look better. I would use them again.

On time- professional- cleaned up and didnt damage the rest of the yard. I did ask them to call me in the spring to remove some tree limbs but I havent heard from them as of yet.

Not the best experience. They arrived more than four hours after I thought they would. They had told me in an Angie's List message that I was "on the calendar for 11 on the 22nd," but that turned out to mean I was scheduled for a four-hour window STARTING at 11. (I previously had mentioned that, for a specific earlier date to work, the work would have to be completed between 11 and 3, but that date got scratched and I never said that the same window would apply to the date we eventually settled on.) Before they came out, I had told the owner on the phone the exact dimensions, then mentioned them again in the email when setting it up ... but then the two guys who come out were taken aback by the size of the job (the stump was about 40 inches wide). Then I had to let them borrow my socket set so they could get the grinding machine through the back gate ... even though the gate is bigger than the minimum dimensions advertised for entry. Then they ran out of gas for the chainsaw. They called the owner, who arrived a short time later with additional crew. They eventually finished the job, and then the owner knocked on the backdoor to get the check, which was his first in-person contact with me. He mistakenly told me I owed $250, thinking I had only gotten an Angie's List coupon for one hour instead of the two hours I had actually purchased.

David was easy to work with and helped us get this dangerous tree down affordable, which was really really helpful. Communication was very good and David is very knowledgeable and shares that knowledge about what they are going to do. They made sure we were satisfied with the job and got the yard cleaned up when they were done.

I have been using Angie's list for a few years now and I can't believe this is the second time in lest than 2 months that I'm requesting a cancellation/refund on a deal. It took several messages to get the provider to call us today, March 31st, just to schedule a look to the job as he can't guarantee he can do it but he cannot come to look at this until April 9th! So, by the time he comes over and if he's willing to do the job we don't even have a date for services to be done. I suppose his offer was well taken but the timing is totally unacceptable and unprofessional not to at least respond on the time frame offered.' I need services done before spring is in full mode and this could easily take 4 more weeks before I get the services provided assuming he will be willing to do so.Kindly I request a cancellation and refund to my account. Thank you very much for your attention,

The owner and another worker arrived promptly with all the equipment that they needed. They cut down two trees and removed a large limb from a third tree. They cleaned up all the logs and limbs from the job.

On first contact, an appointment was made and agreed upon. The day of the appointment this contractor was a no show. No call or anything, I called him and he stated "I wrote it on my paper calendar and not in my google calendar so I forgot completely" A new appointment time was agreed on, and the day of that appointment he couldn't come "because of the weather". I sent another e-mail and have never heard back. Don't think that I will do another Angies List Big Deal without a LOT of research which is the reason I joined, so I didn't have to spend the time doing this.

This was one of the Big Deals that I purchased. In the beginning, there were a lot of problems with communication, partly due to new procedures on Angies List and a new person in VA Contracting office. This was frustrating and went on for awhile so I cancelled the project and wrote a bad review. However, Mr Munoz called shortly after and asked if he could please do the work and apologized for the problems. He said it would do it without charge. I agreed and he and his crew came out and did a fabulous job. They even moved plants so that the stump grinder wouldn't damage them. Everything was done well and cleaned up well. I tried to go ahead and pay him anyway, but he refused. David Munoz definitely made things right and was extremely professional and competent. I greatly appreciated his efforts. I had posted a previous summary of this resolution that somehow didn't get posted so this is my second attempt to thank VA Contracting for making things right and doing such great work.

Originally thought the $199 Big Deal for $400 worth of tree service would cover cutting down a single tree but it was only used towards a much bigger price so that was a bit disappointing. II was hoping that the tree I had in mind which was basically small and dead would come in around that price but certainly not 3 times it. The quote for the tree removal was actually going to be $1200 minus the $400 but it included cutting it up and removing it. After he came out he said he would cut down a second tree for just a bit more $1600 for two trees minus the $400 'coupon' price. The trees were cut down nicely and chopped up then left by the curb for removal. Only thing I didn't like was that tree removal meant that he posted on Craigslist that there was free wood at my address which he failed to mention to me. Random people showed up and started hauling away the wood from my front yard. I asked what the heck they were doing and they said they got the address from some guy who said to come and take it away. This was a bit scary to think that my address is up for grabs for people to come by and curb side pick. What if they poked around the back yard because they thought wood was out there? I like the work and the guy but for that reason alone I would not hire him again. He should tell you that he is going to give out your address

Bought the Big Deal and they never responded. Highly disappointed.

I first met David on Dec. 27th and I found him to be very professional and pleasant. He was on time for his appointment and his tree enthusiasm was unmistakable. That is why I was very disappointed when my calls went unanswered for the next 2 months. When I finally heard back from David I learned that a serious tragedy had befallen him. David profusely apologized for his unresponsiveness and said that he’d honor the tree coupon that had since expired. From that point on he has been responsive and timely and his work has been impeccable. His crew has gone beyond the call of duty including doing some free work for the neighbor so my property would like nicer. I continue to find projects for him to do as his work is of superior quality and his rate is reasonable. I am thrilled to recommend David. That said, his work speaks for itself - once our friends see our transformed deck, lake and yard they will undoubtedly ask who did it.

Provider is unresponsive. Purchased "deal" and met with provider. Since that time I have not heard a word and service has not been performed. Would like my money back!!!!!

All went very well with the tree removal, stump grinding and wood removal. They even took a tree down for free that was in the direct path of the diseased 90' plus pine so they could position the bucket truck closer for a safe removal. 4 huge gum trees removed, one of which had a branches that extended halfway over the house. David, John and Miguel did an exceptional job from start to finish. This company's backlog is enormous and was worth the wait. Thanks for the outstanding service!

I purchased a Big Deal for stump grinding and set the appointment and they never showed up.

no work has ever been done... multi Voice mails have not been returned at thier main number... and the "emergency" cell Number's VoiceMail box is full.

It didn't go. Still have not heard from the provider. No response. Not even a "got your message and I'll get back to you shortly." I, too, bought the "deal" and immediately left a message to schedule service on both phone numbers listed. Didn't hear anything. Tried again, left message. Didn't hear anything for a day. Emailed. Still no reponse. WHERE IS THIS PROVIDER?

I've called VA Contracting three times on 2/3 and left messages. I've also sent them an email through Angie's List and haven't received any phone call or message back.

Outstanding. They did more cleaning up of dead branches than expected. They removed all limbs as discussed, and some that needed to go that we did not discuss. They did and outstanding job cleaning up afterwards. They were prompt and were in and out while I was at work.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and they did a good job. They came out within a week after I purchased the deal.

One little glitch in that they had to cancel due to weather, but I ended up calling them to find that out. Work was done well.

The work went well. We were not able to find a convenient time to meet, but I described the work needed while the contractor was on the phone at my home. Work was performed to my satisfaction.

Cut limbs hanging over my garage and in various over places in the yard; shredded all limbs and hauled away. Very likeable owner and workers.

They showed up promptly for an estimate, and there was a slight snafu with scheduling the actual work. But when we called to see why we hadn't heard back, they were very apologetic and scheduled the work immediately. They trimmed 3 crepe myrtles, 2 large holly bushes, and a large redbud tree. What's most important is that they didn't "murder" the threes by just cutting straight across. They listened to what we wanted and trimmed carefully without butchering the trees. Dave was knowledgeable and helpful and followed our direction -- very much appreciated!

I was very pleased with the whole process. They went above and beyond what I expected.

The guy who owns it is very personable. He gave us a good deal and we did end up spending more than the big deal. He could not do what we wanted for $400, but even then he gave us a really good deal on it. The big deal was for $400. He came out promptly to do the estimate and take a look at it. Then it took us a while to decide what we wanted to do and when to do it. He was very hands on and knowledgeable. I thought that he was very friendly and they did more than was expected. They managed to do it without tearing up the yard. I would use them again.
