Complete NIGHTMARE! We had moved into a house with a kitchen that was completely trashed. We needed to get new flooring and new cabinets. We contracted with Joe Lewis/Virginia Carpet and Floors to demo out our old kitchen, and put in new subflooring, cabinets, tile counter top, and new flooring. Joe Lewis is a good salesperson. He really helped us with planning our new kitchen, since we didn?t have any concrete ideas. We just knew we had to get something new installed fast. His business had a coupon in one of those magazines with a steep discount, so the price was good. So far, those were the only good things we encountered while dealing with his business. He did a bad job; We do not want him involved any more in working on our kitchen. We have been without a kitchen for over two months; the verbal agreement was for two weeks. ? He had our old kitchen demo?ed, but mis-measured for the cabinets, and took 2 weeks to tell us. Several days spent away from work waiting. We had to help move cabinets into house. ? In spite of remeasuring, the layout of the kitchen is different from what we were told; microwave too high up, because cabinet on top of it is too short, we lost two drawers in our kitchen and the remaining drawers are only half the size of our old drawers, so we don?t have enough space any more for all our utensils; The job is incomplete, there are corner pieces that are not done, and finishing pieces that are missing. Minor dings and scratches - We have almost no contact for 2 more weeks, and then find out that the tiles Joe Lewis/Virginia Carpet and Floors sold us he cannot get. So we have to go and find new tile at another flooring store and order it, so Joe Lewis can pick it up. We spend a day waiting for contractors to show up, because nobody called us to let us know that they weren't coming. - Tiles are installed; there is some small damage to the metal rims who hold the tile on the countertops. - Contractor (Joe Lewis) buys our sink. Plumber comes and tells me we cannot install that kind of sink (with clips) on our counter top (tile). Joe Lewis obviously didn?t know that. We ask him to return the sink and give us our money back. We have to go and buy a new, far more expensive type of sink, since the tile is already laid. Plus, the plumber has had to make several trips. - We have had only one email telling us that the contractor would come and exchange the sink and take the two large boxes with the mismeasured cabinets we couldn't use. He said he would meet us that night. He didn't show up. We have had no further contact with him. His voicemail box is full and he doesn't ever open his storefront (Virginia Carpets and Floors), or return emails to us anymore. We have written him an email declaring that we want him to return some of the the money that we have paid so far, which we put at $1000, and to get the wrong sink and cabinets out of our garage. We have filed a complaint with the BBB and will take him to small claims court.
