Stewart Moving & Storage

Coming from a local real estate agent.. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Not only did we receive AWEFUL service.. we were charged $600 more than the original estimate, to add insult to injury! Will detail issues with them below: -We had numerous experiences walking into rooms and seeing the movers sitting and looking at their phones, watching videos, talking to friends/family (not what you want to see when being charged by the hour)... One of the employees has since told me that "some of our crews are just lazy." Can confirm. -Our kitchen table was damaged and no attempt at rebuilding, the primary bed wasn't rebuilt, and our Ikea dresser is still in 50 pieces w no initial attempt to put it back together. -We were never informed by the estimator that they would not put boxes in our pull-down attic at the final destination, which has left us with TONS of boxes we now have to deal with ourselves. -There seemed to be a great loss of morale around 9:30/10pm when they couldn't get ahold of their boss for something they needed (apparently had already gone to sleep), which seemed to slow progress even more at the end. -Multiple items were left at the original location (7 large tubs of clothes & a desk). NO walkthrough with us before leaving. Intead, they just informed us that they were done and left for the next destination without double checking with us that they'd gotten everything. -When the crew left the original destination, my wife stayed back and continued to clean and sweep and load up her car and our 6 wk old baby for another 30-45 minutes, and then passed your crew at a gas station (not even at a gas pump... just in the parking lot) on her way to meet them at the final destination - and she still arrived 15-20 minutes before the crew did. The crew told me the delay had something to do with a "family emergency". The customer service person, John, is a complete jerk.. good luck getting anywhere with him! So much regret using Stewart Moving & Storage.

Stewart Moving to the rescue! I was so distressed over moving and the original local moving company I hired never even came out to my house to give me an estimate. It was up to me to guess what size truck and how many movers I'd need. Less than a week before the move my realtor suggested I call Stewart Moving to see if they could help. When I gave them my move date, much to my surprise and good fortune, that day was the only day in December that they still had available! What a relief! Within an hour the Stewart rep was at my house taking a complete inventory. He eased my mind two hours later when I received the estimate by email and with that, it was all set for the move the following week. The large truck and five men showed up and within hours had completely moved everything in the house and storage facility, delivering it across town and unloaded the same day. It was a long exhausting day, but the job was completed and I was ready to start living in my new home. Thank you Stewart Moving!

It was the move from ****. Items were lost. Multiple items (all which they packed) were damaged and the house was damaged. Boxes marked fragile were mangled. They carried boxes into the house with the arrows indicating the direction boxes should be carried pointing downward. They lost a bicycle and ladder. The dropped a slate table on a wood floor, putting a gash into it. They marked up walls in numerous areas. They broke a door. The top of an armoire was smashed in. The corner of a dresser was cracked and the finish on the edge was scraped off. Three pieces of bedding were dirty and ripped. A lamp was broken. Artwork was damaged. The leg of a chair was chipped. We were told we could put items in HVAC storage. We followed directions on how to handle this, but the box we had marked with HVAC was not put into climate controlled storage. Contents were melted. When we complained about this, we were told we did not qualify for HVAC storage as we did not pay for it. We have moved multiple times over the years and prior to this move never encountered any problem. I strongly urge anyone considering Stewart Moving and Storage (now merged with Tanner) to look elsewhere.

My wife and I have moved way too many times over the years and I have NEVER come across a moving company like this... I've been recommending them to everyone I know! The customer service we were given through each step of the process was shocking!!! They were by far the most courteous, helpful and professional company I've ever dealt with... regardless of the industry. I was so blown away by this company that I wanted to do something for them... I've never written a review before for anything - but here I am signing up for Angie's List just to write this review. If you need any kind of moving service (packing, storage, unpacking, moving, etc.) in the Richmond area, I strongly recommend at least getting an estimate from these guys... you won't be disappointed!!!
