This business approached me about advertising in my company's direct mail program. We signed him up, developed his ad (which he approved), printed it and mailed it to 50,000 homes in Richmond, VA in October 2013. To this date, this contractor has not paid one dime for the services we provided. After several attempts to contact the owner, including a certified mail demand letter, which he ignored, our only recourse is to file a lawsuit, which will be done this month. Based on this contractor's unwillingness to pay for services he received, we give PDA Contractors a Red Flag and caution any potential customers or vendors to avoid doing business with this company.

Paul Anderson came to our house on 8/22 to review our site so he could give us a proposal.Gave a great presentation on8/28 and said he would contact us on friday 8/30 with start date. He asked for a check for $5000.00 and we signed the contract. I think this was a stupid decision on our part. No contact on Friday. Monday was the holiday. No contact tuesday. Called him tue. Pm. Called wed. No answer either time. Paul called back on thur.and gave Bonnie a verbal toung lashing. It seems like he has run off with the money and is not going to perform the work. started job 9/16. Removed shrubs and wood curbs. 3 men 8 hours came at 10:30 wants to sell more services. Ok to add lawn for $5000.00. 3 men 8 hours. 9/18 three men 6hours finished scraping off weeds. Stump ground later that day Found that he didn't have any license to do any work and the license he had was revoked for life. At the end of the month,Told him to get off job and got another verbal tirate. Hired another contractor who finished the job in two days.
Description of Work: Gave a great presentation and gave us a contract and took our $5000.00 deposit Sold us additional services and took another $5000.00 Came and did some work then leave and we would not see them for up to a week. This went on for almost a month. It was a 3 or 4 project and the weather was good all month.

Why didn't we check Angie's List first before using this company??? We read the reviews after we signed the contract and then hoped for the best.. When he is selling the job, he calls quite frequently with answers to our questions. After the contract is signed, good luck. You could go weeks without him returning calls. He is horrible at keeping you informed of the work schedule and progress reports. When there are problems or issues, he is very arrogant to the customer. The first red flag is that the company named changed from P & S to PDA. Beware!!! The work performed by the sub contractors was good. They were professional and pleasant. Those poor guys need to work for someone else other than Paul Anderson!

Toward the end of Aug of 2011 we started a job for P&S or PDA Contractors, inc. The job consisted of digging a footing for 3 retaining walls, 2 steps and piers at the end of each wall and on both sides of the steps that outlined a patio. The total amount of footing was 76ft long 2ft wide and on average 3ft down with 80% done by hand because of location along with 25ft of it curved like a "S". After the footing was dug and poured we built 75ft of brick and block knee high walls and toped it out with a course of bull nosed brick. PDA was suppose to cover the materials but when the concrete showed up they wouldn't pay ( $462.00) so I covered it to keep the job moving forward. We built all the walls and piers up but had to leave the last course off (bull nose brick) cause PDA couldn't get the material out on the job. We receive partial payment in cash for 60% of the work. I'm not one to argue with cash but most of the contractors that I do work for write my company a check from their company. I sent PDA a receipt showing how much they owed in labor and material ( $462) and got a bunch of attitude on how it wasn't necessary (1st red flag). Once the brick show up we come back to finish it up and the costumer wanted to add another course of brick to the wall then the bull nose. So we add the course, top out with the bull nose and clean everything up(job complete ; ). The homeowner's are astatic, loving their new patio area talking about hosting neighborhood cookouts and parties. Once finished and the bill dropped off, PDA avoided any contact with us. I would call him once in the morning and once in the evening for 3 months. In that 3 month period he returned my phone calls 2 times and every time it was with this assailing rant about calling him to much. When we got around christmas things where getting real tight and i still hadn't heard from PDA so I started searched and found the company info and email, tried find resolve via email. That approach also didn't work, he would reply that he could not read my emails or that the invoice was wrong. I continued to try to reach PDA to go over the invoice but failed to make contact with him. I'm now taking him to court for the remainder of the money but their is a long line. I payed for a background check on the owner and it does not look good. If you want free Info on him you can look it up on the Virginia court status website. I hope this helps and prevents this company from taken advantage of anyone else.
Description of Work: Dig down to good soil and pour footing 76ft x 2ft. Build 12” brick and block wall with four piers and 2 steps. Topped out with bull nose brick.
Description of Work: He did not finish the job. He was rude and unprofessional. Communication skills are horrible. Did not stick to the contract and refuses to return to finish the work. He comes across threatening during conversations, and was like this with others I have spoken with. The word Bully was commonly used when describing him.
