Mr Rooter Plumbing of Richmond VA

Initial water heater replacement happened 5 years ago, and went fine. However, given our water heater feeds into our heating system, evidently pressure builds up in the water heater more than usual, and lead to a failure after just 5 years. A simple pressure tank would have prevented my latest issue, but since it "wasn't required by code" then, and I wasn't told that it would be a good idea, one was not installed. So, fast forward to 5 years later, and though the tank itself was covered, they charged me over $1000 to replace it. They were only hear for 4 hours, so we're talking about $250/hour, and that is outrageously overpriced. I appreciate that they added an pressure relief tank this time (it's code now, so I'm not sure they had a choice), but I still believe the tank would not have needed to be replaced if they'd gone above "what code requires" in the first place. Going to the minimum and not beyond is not what I'm looking for in service, so I will be looking for someone who goes above and beyond next time.

We didn't know where the shut off valve was located for the refrigerator so called Mr. Rooter Plumbing. Tony (Van) Vandermark came over and spent 30 minutes exploring the crawl space beneath the house. He finally discovered that it had been installed beneath the kitchen sink when the house was built. We would call Mr. Rooter Plumbing again for any plumbing issues and ask for Van. Great Job!

I called on 5/23/18 and setup an appointment for the next day to have a tech come out and take a look at my property and give me options to resolve the water drainage issue I had in my backyard that was causing my house to flood. The appointment was set for the next day 5/24/18. The tech (Mark) showed up at the appointed time, we discussed my options and he measured the property. He told me the Tish in the main office would take the information and put together the quote, which I would receive by email. On 5/31/18 I called the office because I had not received the quote. I was told by the lady that answered that Tish was finalizing the quote and I would receive it by the end of the next day 6/1/18. As of today I still have not received the quote, and I have heard nothing from anybody at Mr. Rooter.

The first time the tech came it was raining very hard so he was unable to to work on the issue. The second time he came with the equipment needed to blow out the drain, but the equipment was not functioning. The third time he was able to blow out the drains but neglected to reattach one of the downspouts (I just happened to notice the downspout and connected it myself). We had a very heavy rain after the work was completed and the drain functioned well. I called the office to highlight the inattention to detail by their crew, but never received a call back with an apology. I was also disappointed on the lack of follow through regarding a price quote to solve the pitch problem the tech had discussed with me. I believe in giving people a second chance, so I would hire them again.

I would use Mr Rooter Plumbing of Richmond VA again.

Paul gave us a "worst case scenario" estimate, explaining what he knew had to be done and what was contingent upon discovery once he got into the job. The actual cost was almost $200 less. He showed us how to keep our drains clear (no more Draino!!). And he kindly answered my husband's 1,000 questions and was quite respectful about my husband's DIY errors. He forgot to leave the product we are to use in our drains once a month. I called the office, and they said they'd have it out to us in the morning. But Paul brought it out himself that night. We will call him again!

Mr Rooter was punctual and efficient. They were courteous and explained everything that they did. Their prices seemed very fair, although i admit, i did not do comparison shopping for replacing the sewer line from the house to the septic tank. We needed the work done quickly and professionally and we were very pleased.

They had to return because the clog appeared again. No problems since

Everyone we dealt with from Mr. Rooter was very nice and professional, from the office scheduler to the plumber. We even had to call them back out to adjust one of the toilets and they came promptly, no questions asked. I would definitely use them again.

All told, the work that was done should have taken 30 minutes but I was charged for 3 hours. Most of the time, the technician was his truck seemed to be staring at the work to be done. Was told he could not fix 1/2 of the things he was sent to do - seemed to me because he didn't know how. I have used Mr. Rooter once before and that technician was great - this one was not. He took the handles off the tub faucets and tightened a screw but did not replace the handles. He pulled "FOG" out of the bathroom sink and left it there - did not clean it up. He broke the hex nut cover on the kitchen faucet while replacing a washer. Extremely displeased with the quality of work and the cost.

They were able to take care of the camera without me at home - had to come back with it. Initial visit was on time, quick, and as always they were polite and thoroughly check the problem.

After his diagnosis, which was not covered by insurance, of course, we had ServPro and HF Bullifant do the restoration and repair work.

Way too expensive. Had the same service performed for $150 previously.

The whole process was great. I was given options and the work was done professionally.

What I thought was a simple problem, turned into a pretty complex one pretty quickly. After another plumber refused to do the work because it was "too complicated" when i was describing it over the phone, i called Mr Rooter Richmond, and they were up to the task. A foot on the back side of the clawfoot tub (against a wall, on the side of the tub with the plumbing) was sheered off, making the tub extremely unstable (a tub rocking back and forth while you're in the shower is really a stomach turner), and risked damaging the tile floor, and the walls next to the tub. In order to fix the foot that sheered off of the clawfoot tub (the people that flipped my home used bolts that were not great for the weight of the tub) the tub had to be removed from the existing plumbing, turned over and all of the feet on the tub were inspected and repaired, including extensive work to the one bad foot. All of the tub feet were repaired, and the tub was reinstalled back with plumbing, and new hot and cold water shut offs on the tub I was consulted numerous times about the price- $650 because of the complications on the tub, but agreed that it was better to ensure the safety and soundness of the tub than worry about the price too much. The technicians did great work, scheduled quickly, and did the work quickly and neatly. They explained every part of the process, and even though i was spending much more money than i originally thought i would for a "simple" broken foot, at the end of the day i was grateful to not have anyone break their necks on account of my wobbly tub, and the work they did was very good. This is now the 4th time that this company has done work in my home, and each time i have been satisfied. They are a reliable company, with good workers and stay true to their promises in regards to pricing and scheduling. I would absolutely recommend this company.

They charged $325 to tighten the screws on my toilet. He did tell he that before he did any services they charge a minimum of $325. At this point, what option did I really have? He's in my bathroom, I've already shown him what's wrong. He told me that the sewage smell should stop but that he could not say anything about the damage and mold that may be in my walls.

The technician did a great job. He was very thorough and offered a lot of explanation and guidance on our plumbing system. He was very helpful. I would use this service again.

Our dishwasher was leaking. I called to have it fixed. A plumber came out on a Saturday since it was an emergency. He spent 20 minutes at our house and told us that the dishwasher would have to be replaced. No actual work was done. He charged us $160. I can understand a small fee for his time (again, UNDER thirty minutes), but this was outrageous.

The service went extremely well. I had service during a stretch of very cold weather here- and in my older home it caused multiple issues. They fixed the plumbing problems quickly and expertly, and were always in touch about the next steps, offering quick scheduling that worked with my schedule, and evening service times so i wouldn't have to miss a lot of work. I felt very well taken care of by all of their technicians, and they were all friendly, professional and funny, which really helped soften the blow of this huge mess. Overall- i have had some serious issues at my house in the past year, and i enjoyed working with this company the best. The broken pipe outside was an easy fix luckily, but the broken pipe inside was a true mess. I was very upset, and they worked quickly, cleanly and did an excellent job explaining what to do next, even offering me free advice on how i can fix some items myself. I would not hesitate using this company in the future, and would absolutely recommend them for any future plumbing jobs.

We had just moved to Richmond from Texas, and we ended up having a major sewer line issue. It started out as a nightmare, dealing with a couple companies through the Home Warranty?.it was a blessing in disguise that after the initial service call, we had more issues over the weekend and the Home Warranty vendor wouldn?t even call us back, so we were approved to use our own company. After checking Angieslist, we called Mr. Rooter. It wasn?t until late Sunday night after completing another big job, but Mr. Rooter made sure to send a service man out. He immediately was more knowledgeable and did what he could that night?we ended up needing a camera scope which led to discovering a busted sewer line. From that point forward, the situation just got worse but Paul and Heather were absolutely amazing. Once the crew started digging, they uncovered that someone had nicked the line and tried to ?repair? it with electrical tape, a Verizon FIOS had bored their pipe right through our sewer line, and a huge boulder had been left crushing our sewer line from the original build. Both Paul and Heather worked tirelessly to find out which utility companies had done the damage and worked with us to begin the process of escalating for repayment. They took pictures all along the way and made sure to explain everything to us and keep us updated on the progress and remaining work needed. They finished the work in just a few days, even though it was a huge job. Each evening, they made sure to leave everything in a working fashion so we were able to stay in the house throughout the repairs. This situation could have been a much worse experience just given the nature of the damage and the issues, but I credit Mr. Rooter of Richmond entirely with making the process as short, smooth, and stress-free as possible. I highly recommend Mr. Rooter and will definitely use them again in the future.

Was told that the tech would be here between 11 and 1 and that they would call when on the way. At 10 minutes of 1, still no call so I was getting ready to call when the tech shows up at the door to fix my clogged kitchen drain??? They had the work description wrong. No big deal, no call and not the right job but they are here and the tech is very professional. She looks at the problem and goes out to her truck and comes back with several options. The cheapest option was to replace two washers...for....are you ready for this?... $273. Thank you but no. I can work on it for quite some time myself for $273. Like I said, I could forgive no call and having the job description wrong. But $273 for replacing washers?

It went great. The company is awesome! I would highly recommend.

The office staff and technician were very courteous and helpful. He was able to fix the problem within the hour. I forgot to tell him about the Angie's list discount and he even came back to my house to return my check so that I could get the discount. I would definitely use them again.

The technician arrived on time and evaluated a couple if problems. Fixed the problem toilet so it would flush (yay!) but when he looked at the other toilet that was "running" he suggested an expensive "rebuild" of the inner parts of the toilet. This seemed a bit extreme for the problem. But in the end they solved my problem in a reasonable time at a fair price.

Super Super Job. On time, very helpful in explaining what they needed to do and they came in under budget working by the hour.
