I really appreciated Mike Grossman’s technical knowledge and skill; clear explanations; candid, conscientious, and courteous manner; and affordable rate. To tune our 80-year-old piano, which had not been tuned in 40 years, he charged less than his regular rate because he was not thrilled with the pitch (or whatever tuners listen for) of the post-tuned piano. We would have been completely happy paying the regular rate (or more) as Mr. Grossman’s tuning produced a marked improvement in the piano’s pitch. :) A former piano student whose knowledge of the instrument is limited to Teaching Little Fingers to Play, I was especially grateful for Mr. Grossman’s clear overview of the tuning process, answers to my questions about our piano, and recommendations for playing. He commended our Charles Stieff for its structural soundness (working strings, keys, and pedals after all these years), adding that the life expectancy of piano strings, which ours have reached, meant that, even with multiple tunings, our piano would sound lower than ideal. He noted that the piano’s strings could be replaced but that the money spent on restringing could be spent more efficiently on a new piano. Mike Grossman is highly recommended for his excellent work, professional advice tailored to the customer’s instrument and playing goals, and courteous manner.

Michael Grossman is the consummate professional. He was very prompt to pickup the phone, and arrange a piano inspection on short notice (for what would have turned out to be disastrous for me, had I not had it inspected,) and, seeing that the instrument was a disaster, took it upon himself to help me find a GREAT piano at a GREAT price for my wife for Christmas. He tuned the instrument at the previous owners house, recommended a piano mover, and tuned the piano again at my house. My wife absolutely loved the instrument, and we couldn't be happier. We will use Michael to tune the piano for as long as we have the instrument, and will, without question, recommend him to our friends, and family.
