This is the second time we've used Kitchen Doctors. The first time we had a total kitchen make-over which we absolutely loved, so when we decided to downsize we had Kitchen Doctors come again. They refaced the cabinets we had and they are absolutely gorgeous. They installed a new granite countertop which looks absolutely beautiful. They also installed under counter lighting, a new sink and a new dishwasher. We couldn't be happier and everyone who has seen it can't believe the transformation! We are very happy with their work and would rehire a third time if needed.

We are tremendously pleased with our “new” kitchen! Kitchen Doctors made the process extremely smooth at every turn. Highlights: - Jim’s brilliant design—which doubled our work area yet was within budget - Updates on expectations and project timeline - Quick responses from all contractors through Kitchen Doctors (electrician, countertop installers, plumber) - Beautiful installation job - including clean-up every day and reliable communication regarding work hours - Quality cabinets with many included features as well as customized options for a very reasonable cost - Recommended undercabinet lighting is amazing - Granite counters and sink are beautiful (able to pick out actual stone in warehouse) - Excellent customer service with complete resolution of all issues and ongoing communication from start to finish!

The process went so much better than we anticipated. The team at Kitchen Doctors arranged the schedule with various contractors and kept the project moving. While it took a bit longer to be fully completed, the kitchen was only out of use for 3 weeks! And we are sooooo happy with the end result. The kitchen used to be the least favorite room in our house. Now it is the place family and friends want to hang out! We give 5 stars to the Kitchen Doctors team!

Very well. A neighbor recommended Kitchen Doctors. I had this work done last summer, and I was very pleased. Jim made suggestions such as "take out the pantry, move the refrigerator to the middle of that wall, make the island bigger ..." We tore out everything, and now I have a kitchen worthy of a magazine! The finished kitchen had everything I wanted. (I even have some extra shelves and 3 drawers with nothing in them! White cabinets, granite countertops, great drawers that close themselves. The guys were easy to work with. I really liked the crew, especially Patrick. He has nice manners and came when he said he would or he called if he was running late. Jim suggested electricians for that part of the job and also granite company. I was equally pleased with their work. I am currently remodeling a bathroom, and I am talking to them about handling that job. I should have written this review last year!

"Thank you very much for your review. We are glad to hear that you love your new kitchen, and we appreciate your complimenting our crew, electricians and granite company. We will forward your review to them as well. And we look forward to working with you on your Bath Remodel!"

The owner , Jim Sheehan, showed up to provide me with an estimate, and was blasé about the job from the beginning. The reason I chose this company was because their advertising emphasized a desire to fulfill the customer's wishes "from simple change to a full remodel." Contrary to that assertion, I felt like my job was so small that it was a waste of the company's time. In addition, I basically knew what I wanted, but was in need of assistance regarding details such as trim work/moldings. Once again, I relied on the website's claims that the company would provide "guidance and suggestions each step of the way" in choosing a contractor. Mr. Sheehan basically answered my questions with minimal detail and I several times had to prompt him to get him to provide additional options. He discussed few particulars, showed me no samples, and left with little fanfare, giving me a fancy looking folder that had two pieces of paper with non-essential info such as the company's Angie's List rating in it. To Mr. Sheehan's credit, he was prompt in arriving for the appointment (a bit too early, in fact) and in providing a quote; however, the quote was generic, had the wrong number of cabinets listed, and contained trim options I had not agreed to. It was if he had done this type of job a million times and was going to throw up whatever he felt fit, regardless of my vision. I guess he expected me to sign a contract and let him choose whatever he thought was best. This was my first experience in dealing with a remodeling company, and I was perplexed at the lack of options provided and the general unhelpful attitude of the contractor. Kitchen Doctors had so many positive reviews that I was really disappointed to be the "odd gal out" as far as customer service. I have no doubt this company has done good work for lots of folks. It's possible the owner was just having a bad day. Or perhaps the company is growing so much that little jobs like mine have become inconsequential to them. If that's the case, I wish they would have politely declined to come out for the quote in the first place. Instead, I got the kind of condescending treatment that seemed to indicate I didn't smell rich enough to the owner to deserve proper consideration. Since that fateful appointment took place, I have pulled all the details together on my own. It has been a drawn out and tiring experience that has drained some of the joy from my remodel. I doubt the company will lose any sleep over that, but if I can help someone avoid the same disappointment, the effort it took to write this review will be worth it.
Response from

"We regret that this was the customer's impression. We take pride in the many positive reviews we receive, and we never want anyone to feel this way. That said, the amount of cabinets required depends on the length of the wall, and a customer can use a combination of sized cabinets to fill the space; the number of cabinets, depending upon the sizes chosen, can vary. Also, since the project involved installing new cabinets to match the existing cabinets, there were no options to discuss. Options can only be offered when starting from scratch. We pride ourselves on helping people avoid the drawn out experience this customer endured, and regret that she did not communicate her feelings to us prior to writing this review, as we would have gladly worked with her and attempted to help her."

I did not hire them. I decided to get cabinets painted in order to save money. I was very pleased with their service/presentation. The price was good for the work that I wanted done. I highly recommend them.

Owner came and discussed and measured. Said he would give me a quote early next week. Heard back from him 1.5 later. I had time to get snood, call another contractor and have it installed before I got his quote. His Quote was 2x as expensive
Response from

"We have always made every effort to accommodate our customers with regard to prompt estimates and proposals, and to fulfilling our dedication to completing projects in a timely manner. As we hope is apparent from the vast majority of our reviews on Angie's List, we feel that we are well above average in this regard. That said, we are very sorry that this customer was disappointed with the delay on his estimate. The company has seen significant growth this year, and we are striving every day to make the necessary adjustments to accommodate this reality. We remain committed to providing the quality of work which has helped establish our reputation as a highly regarded, trustworthy and dependable company. Jim Sheehan, Owner"

The owner is great. His pitch was clear and helpful and the pricing was in our ballpark. Unfortunately, after that initial meeting, communication was a problem, with calls not returned and some vagueness about the expected start date. At that point, not really a big deal. Once the installer (who I understand was new to the company) came and did the job, there were problems. They might not have been major problems if communication had been better. Trying to get back in touch with the company to address our issues turned out to be very difficult. Eventually, they sent the same guy back (I don't want the guy who screwed up to "fix" it) and his attitude was unhelpful and his repair was insufficient. We felt like Kitchen Doctors didn't care about our satisfaction. This would have been a much worse review had I written it then. But the owner came to the rescue. When I finally got in touch with him directly, he came personally and promptly, agreed with our concerns and did the necessary repairs himself immediately. He really saved the company's reputation with his own effort. As far as recommending Kitchen Doctors, I basically would say you should have him come by, but ask him bluntly about any staffing problems he's having at the time. He's a good guy and I suspect our experience was not typical. At the same time, I'm not going to risk it again for our needs. The takeaway is that he really needs to improve on communication. Better communication throughout would have made us feel less abandoned.

Overall it went very well. Once I let Jim know that I wanted suggestions, he gave excellent guidance and opinions on everything from the counter vs island patterns to the perfect handles on the cabinets. I wouldn't have thought to use the pattern on the island that he suggested, but am eternally grateful that he assisted in choosing the complementary counter designs. Charlie is absolutely the best, most talented craftsman. A pleasure to work with, too. He finished off the opening for the microwave in a way I never would have imagined. It looks wonderful. We did have a problem with the island cutout for the range being too large. It was fixed to our satisfaction, but initially the communication wasn't stellar on how it would be resolved. Bottom line, however, is that when I pushed, they more than came through, and I would use them again. The kitchen looks incredible. Cannot tell it's not real wood. Charlie is a perfectionist, so we had to wait for new drawer fronts to be made because he wasn't happy with how the first set came out. And he was absolutely right. They show up on time - from Jim when he came for the estimate, to the workers when they executed the plan. They didn't leave until I was satisfied. They cleaned up really, really well, every day they were here. They were great with our dogs and cats. One tip that worked really well for us and them: After they left the first day, I went did a detailed inspection, and left little post it notes wherever I found a place that needed to be addressed. Seams that needed finishing, uneven edging, places with small chips. The next morning they thanked me for the multitude of post its! I was afraid I might get static. But no! One of the guys took photos of each one, sent it to the boss, then as they fixed each item, they took the post it down. At the end of that day, most of the post its were down, and the items they didn't get to were fixed over the next day or so. Post its stayed up til each was addressed. I would recommend them, I'd use them again. The price was reasonable for the amount of work done. I trust them all. The kitchen looks really great. What else can you ask for? A note on the photos: my husband did the backsplash and the flooring after Kitchen Doctors were done, and these pics don't have the finished backsplash, and most have the old messed up flooring. Focus on the counter, the island, the cabinets. Those are all the work of Kitchen Doctors.

They went above and beyond to make sure the details were complete. It was difficult as the granite supplier was difficult to work with and did a poor job. Kitchen Doctors did a great job.

TL:DR - Very good pre-sales service, decent work, terrible communication once the project started.

We originally chose Kitchen Doctors because of the excellent pre-sales customer service and their competitive pricing. But once the process began a few red flags started to appear, primarily in terms of their communication with us.
For example:
- We only found out how much the counter tops were going to cost, the day after they were installed. Thankfully it wasn't too much more than we were expecting, but we would have liked to have known before in case we wanted to change our minds based on cost.
- Near the end, the project manager and I created a punch list of items left to be completed. All the other sub-contractors that I had direct contact with showed up as scheduled after the flooring was complete but Kitchen Doctors didn't. I reached out to them for a week and half before receiving a response saying they'd be back out in week to finish up. I was only a little annoyed at the delay, but the lack of communication to manage my expectations or explain why they didn't show up as arranged was what was most annoying.
Some of the delays were not their fault and they've been friendly and hard working whenever they show up, but at each pause point, I've had to reach out to them repeatedly over weeks to get some response and to arrange for them to come back out and finish their work.
As it stands now, they have some repair work to finish due to faulty materials and I've reached out to the once a week for the past 3 weeks with no indication from them as to when the work will be finished.

The installation of replacing the toe board, modifying the space to handle the new dishwasher, bracing the cabinets, and refacing the laminate end caps was done so professionally that everything looks new. Great service, great workmanship, terrific service, quick response. Kit the installer was very knowledgeable, precise, neat, and we couldn't ask for anything more. I highly recommend this company.

Since the housing market in this neighborhood is still very sluggish, I declined to have the work done.  However if things pick up, I plan to move forward with the remodel.  Laurie was very personable and professional.  She listened to my needs for the kitchen and I  enjoyed meeting with her to discuss my options.

Customer rep Laura was unfailingly pleasant to work with, had great ideas and advice, helped with coordination with subbers and granite supplier (Classic Granite and Marble--also a great bunch).  Jim, owner, had practical suggestions, was flexible when my ideas changed, Crew did good work and cabinets they supplied look great.  Price was competitive with other good companies that bid on the work.   I look forward to other opportuniies to work with these folks again.
